I bought Deus Ex on Steam probably a year ago. There were some issues with it that I couldn't figure out preventing me from playing. I wonder if I'll run into those issues playing on my new PC? I'm also a GameTap subscriber, so I own it twice!

That's awesome, I might have to play it again.
Amazing how some games just continue to hold up over time.
For some reason, this makes me kind of sad. Deus Ex is the type of game people would still pay good money for. To see it be given away for free now just seems weird and wrong. Gut instinct tells me that games given away for free are usually done so for a reason: 'Cause they suck ass.
Whatever, I'm sure I'll get over it.

edit: holy zombie jesus, the "Eidos Everything pack" is a hundred dollars? In what possible universe is it worth anything even close to that much money?

GTA 1 and 2 are free (right?). So's the Quake engine and open source games... indie games... Dwarf Fortress...

You're saving 300 dollars.
For some definitions of "saving", I suppose.
Looking at what's in it, I suppose it might be worth $100 to somebody. I mean, you've got Deus Ex 1&2, Some Thief action, the Hitman series, and Kane and Lynch is still new (and thus might have value to some). I don't know Commandos for whatever reason, but there's a fuckload of it in there.
Basically, if you like 6 or 7 of those games it's probably worth $100. Then again, if you like 6 or 7 of those games, you probably already own 4 or 5. I guess this is the power of digital distribution...with no cost to box/ship/etc., you can offer packs like this and still make money even if only like eight dudes buy it.
Also, fuck the OP for making me want to play Deus Ex again.
EDIT: My mom had this same definition of "saving" when I was a kid. "Here's this shirt that's on sale!" "But I hate it." "But it's half off!" "Yeah, but I'll never wear it and we save 100% by not buying it."
Commandos, Battlestations, Inferno, Just Cause, and Rogue Trooper are also games that are worth playing that you forgot to list, not to mention Project: Snowblind, which is Deus Ex 1.5.
"Reinstalling" implies that it was uninstalled at some point. Insanity, truly.
But, it has been mentioned, so dammit I gotta play it again.
Also, the Shifter mod is up to v1.8.1. New to this version:
- You can now pick up multiple PS20s and LAWs
- Recoded more NPCs as neutral, removing the skill point penalty for lethal takedowns
- Expanded weapon-giving options for other friendly NPCs, such as Gunther, Gilbert Renton and Miguel.
- Further compatibility with the Zodiac and HDTP mods.
- Unarmed friendly or hostile NPCs will now search for a weapon if one can be found, if the NPC would attack otherwise.
- Various items repositioned, such as the mechanic's body at Everett's and Lebedev's VoIP recording.
- Various recalcuations, including secondary-fire accuracy and how stealth-based skillpoints are tallied.
- New "Unrealistic" difficulty mode, wherein all bullet-based weapons fire exploding shells, animals and robots can (and do) pick up and carry weapons, and your in-game character model is the one you have selected for multiplayer.
- And gobs of other stuff.
This on top of the things it already adds, like unique weapons, skillpoints for takedowns/evasion, the ability to overwrite augs, a Skull Gun, zyme bullet time, and all sorts of wonderful things. Damn near a must :^:

And if you start playing Deus Ex, you will want to reinstall it later on down the road.
Shit, I'm going to have to reinstall it right now, aren't I?
I believe its one of those Laws of the Internet. Every time Deus Ex is mentioned someone reinstalls it.
It's kinda like The Game.

How did you... wait, no. That's not right. It's "Highlander Woman."
...
SHIT
[edit]Oh wait, no, it really WAS "Flatlander". Man, my memory's fucked.
Amazing how some games just continue to hold up over time.
I played it, I still have it but I hated the player movement/mouse sensitivity, it just never felt right to me
Whatever, I'm sure I'll get over it.
Should be a good grab for others, though.

Don't you dare remind me about Tomb Raider.
I'd pay $100 to not have to play Tomb Raider.
Luckily, like so many other simple pleasures, it's absolutely free.
What, are you mad?

Why don't you want a greasel to carry a GEP gun?
Presumably because you secretly hate yourself and want to make the game punishingly hard when you least expect it.
That's why I'm trying it, anyway.
Wooo, I didn't know there were others!
Soooo, no date on when it goes up?
