So apparently the Rock Band Stratocaster controller works in Guitar Hero: Aerosmith for the Xbox 360. I haven't tested it yet myself, but if this is true, that's really great. Neversoft must have intentionally built compatibility into the game - as GH3 shows, it doesn't just happen by accident.

New golden age of instrument cross-compatibility between games?

About freaking time, if you ask me.

Shit, really? I'm gonna go try this right now. Maybe with my Strat, I'll enjoy the game a little more than with the Les Paul.

EDIT: It's true! It does work!

Hell, if this keeps up, maybe I'll actually buy World Tour.

Strange thing is, I just rented the game today and basically blew through the whole thing in a couple hours. I had to download an update when I first played. When I just turned on to try the Strat, it gave me another update (mind you, less than 12 hours after the first).

Maybe that had something to do with it?

I was talking about the picture in the Joystiq article, about how the strat doesn't work in GH: Aerosmith. It looks fake, because the sides of the pink balloon thingy overlap in such a way that it looks like they just copied the top part of it and flipped it upside down.

For anyone interested on vocals for Promised Land, they're not that bad. There's a steady mix of high and low for the most part and my sightread without ever hearing anything from this song yielded a 97% in Band Quickplay.
However, I would like to know what moron at HMX decided to have the last phrase immediately before the Big Rock Ending be an energy phrase. I mean, at least the one in Ballroom Blitz makes sense in a band but there's nothing to gain from it whether you chain it or no. :|

I went ahead and picked up 3 songs from the Judas Priest album and Action since I've been peer-pressured into getting those.

Good picks all, Riding on the Wind is especially fun if you try and actually match Rob's screams. It brings instant groans from anyone in attendance when I pick it on vocals (you understand, given my range and stylings). Although a couple of the holds on "wind" about make me pass out, the man has too much lung capacity.

Yeah, I can't get through YGATC on anything past medium, it's the only one of the Priest pack I haven't passed on hard. As for Riding, yeah it's not that hard, but it is damn fun to hit those screams.

I wish they could rig up some way for the sound of the vocalists to come through Live (without delay). It would feel much more like the vocalist is a part of the band.

Of course, it would have to be optional. I shudder to think about playing band quickplay with randoms with this feature in. D:

I doubt it. LaBrie isn't the biggest of best vocal acrobat in the progressive or metal scene, but he's no slouch either. And Panic Attack would be a mix of sing and talky, I don't think it could knock it down that bad.

Considering it's under the Solid difficulty level, I'd say odds are the Panic Attack would be the Finger Eleven one.

I don't see a Dream Theater song with anything less than Nightmare to Impossible on every instrument, save vocals.

It also says 'Solid 2 Songs' and theres clearly more than 2 songs in the picture, so I'd say its not conclusive at this point, assuming its real. It could still be a shop anyways. But I'd think Dream Theater is a much more requested band than Finger Eleven given how many people I see online are such huge fanboys of them, I haven't listened to much of them myself but I'd still think thats who they are referring to with that song title.

Also I wouldn't think Ace of Spades would be listed under Solid either.

It was probably already in there, as it's possible for Xbox360 games to 'unpatch' themselves. Once in a while Rock Band will lose it's Music Store patch on me.

If i remember my fooling around with both guitars, the issue GH2 and GH3 had was the fact that on 360, the game probably just checks (i'm simplifying this) for the controller to say "Guitar Hero" somewhere in it's ID string. In short, they'd pick up the Strat as a regular controller. Which constantly holds down the green fret.

In theory, they could patch GH2 to use the Strat. Rock Band lets you use GH controllers by simply checking the IDs and knowing they are a guitar. I imagine it was the same patch they were going to issue for Rock Band PS3 before Activision cockblocked it.

But it seems a bit easier to do this stuff out-of-the-gate, so I'm willing to to bet GH:WT will let you use the Strat now, and Rock Band 2 PS3 will have GH compatibility.
