I'm just not sure how the transition to first person is going to work. Seems like an odd choice.
To save future Mac users some grief, here's what I've done in order to connect to ICCup. 80% of the problem lies in finding a BNet Gateway editor site that isn't down. I've never been more thankful for a geocities site in my life.
2. Open it, and click the "Starcraft Tab"
3. Click the "+" icon in the bottom left of the window that pops up.
4. In the "name" field enter ICCup. In the "address" field type "sc.theabyss.ru"
5. For timezone, select whichever you are in.
6. In the Starcraft Data Port field type: 6112.
7. Click save and close the application
As expected, the announcement generated some interest in the Diablo 2 thread here.
I'm actually have an inkling of a desire to reinstall it and play some on my own. Too bad I get bored of it quickly so that I'm unwilling to spend even 20 bucks on LoD.

I thought it was mostly boring by myself, even after buying LoD, but I had a lot of fun playing the game through with my friend. He also only had the original, until he went and shoplifted the expansion from Circuit City so we could go kill Baal together.
I played like 10 levels with a friend online once. It's ok, the problem is you can't type while you play. So you can't say 'Go here and I'll use 'skill1' while you use 'skilla'.'
Also, I think it's really awesome watching those walls being destroyed in the Diablo 3 gameplay preview.
I hope it doesn't turn out to be one of those gimmicks where the devs play it up a whole lot, but then you find out that you can only break this certain type of wall, and even then it's only useful in this certain situation, and this certain situation only occurs very often early game and then totally disappears after that, and then on higher difficulties it becomes pretty pointless because it doesn't do enough damage and etc etc.
Well, it looked like the nice walls were unbreakable. Maybe they can just say any brittle wall is breakable and that'll be fine. Also, they could break a rail, but probably couldn't go farther because it would mean falling and breaking their legs, so it might not make too much of a difference.
What was really cool was when he was fighting near the recently broken bridge, his abilities moved some of the rubble.
Edit: Hell. I'm just going to install vanilla D2 and play singleplayer for about 20 minutes before I get bored. Sorc or barb. I haven't beaten Diablo with either, so I wonder which I should choose.
If you don't plan on going into Hell difficulty, you should give a fire druid a shot. they're kind of fun.
Anyway, I'm a little worried about how overzealous the teamliquid people are about the MBS thing. It's a (sort of) valid concern, but it'd be nice to see if the balance of the game shifted more to more complex army control, and almost nobody there seems to really consider that.
Which would be great, except that druids and assassins are in LoD.
That's the problem with sequels to games that are still popular. Lots of people want the game to be like the previous game as much as possible. The new game has to have some impossible balance between newness and old school. If a single thing is too different, then the whole thing is ruined for people who want to play the original. They could just keep playing the original game, but whatever.

So some asshole bunker rushed me twice. Once the first game and a second on the rematch. Owned him bad in late game the second time around. Also the first game bumped him to C- so I got lots of points teh second game yay.

So I suffer more for the short time I play it. I really have it bad.

I really would but I haven't been able to find my D2 cds for the last few months. Which totally fucking sucks cause the new patch has no CD but I can't get the files in the first place.
Plus vanilla? Boo.

Lovely. D2 doesn't play well with Vista. Even compatibility for XP isn't working for me...
