You can't go without eating, stupid. Your body needs calories for energy. Trying to replace eating with supplement pills is just really, really dumb.

Everything in moderation. Relying on pills, powders, and shakes for all your nutritional needs is asking for trouble.

First of all the main thing I see missing other than a general multivitamin is fiber. Most people don't know this but unless you eat enough fiber you will get hemorrhoids, then colon cancer, then you will die. If you took those supplements, and then ate enough high fiber foods(bran cereal, vegetables, beans) you would actually have a really healthy, low calorie diet.

You might want to look up the Pritikin diet, as it is designed for maximum health and longevity. Ray Kurzweil, this rich nut who thinks he is going to live forever, uses it to maximize longevity. Your assortment of pills reminded me of him because he reportedly takes like 80 supplements and other pills a day.

sup·ple·ment (sŭp'lə-mənt) N. : 1. Something added to complete a thing, make up for a deficiency, or extend or strengthen the whole.

So.. yeah. Eat the raw foods and take a multi as insurance.

P.S. Not all vegetables are nutritiously optimal when eaten raw. Some are more nutritious when cooked, and optimal methods of preparation vary based on the food. This article was just published in the New York Times and has pretty good info.

Vitamins also do nothing for long-term health or deficiency; they're a daily supplement in the same way that ibuprofen helps headaches. The average 1st world diet is balanced enough that the worst you'll probably ever get from lack of vitamins is tired-feeling, maybe a headache.

Hey, I read a similiar article a while ago.

    Here.

Basically to summarize, it says that the best diet is one that is 50% raw (2 pounds a day of raw foods) to ensure that you get a variety of nutrients. Cooking breaks down cell wall in plants to make some nutrients easier to absorb while it also makes other, water soluable nutrients, leak out of the vegetable.
