My colleague remembers a game for the PS1, and all he can remember is that it involved a cat who was a cop/detective. Anyone?

How about a mouse? Mappy, from NAMCO MUSEUM VOL.2?

We were just talking about Bubsy earlier, so I doubt that's it...

I'm certain I know this one but its name escapes me. IIRC, the cat had partner and the game was both of their names.

Apparently that sounds right. I can't find anything on a search, though.

...Sam and Max? I know that's not on the PS1 though.

Already suggested Sam and Max. An immediate no.

It wasn't Dots and Diamond, either, as much as it's exactly as he described it. Apparently the cat wore a detective overcoat.

EDIT: Also possible it had an isometric viewpoint.

Quite possibly. Can't view that video but looks very promising from the boxart I can find.

This has been bothering me for a long time. Enough so to cause me to register to find out.

The game was for the Playstation, and you played as a kid with a dog on a 2D landscape. The enemies were these shadow fuckers, and the kid had a makeshift-looking helmet and gun that would shoot electricity at them. Were you to miss the shadow fuckers, they would kill the kid in some horrific manner, such as devouring him whole or swooping down to pick him up and break his back. The gameplay vaguely reminded me of an Oddworld game, but I may have just been young and stupid.

This one sounds like Heart of Darkness. I've never played it, but wanted to.

Game is great, but it's short. It's a couple discs mainly because of the FMVs on psx, but you can get it for PC and it still works on XP. I love the violent ways you die for an E rated game.

I've been playing HoD recently, and while it's definitely visually amazing, and way ahead of its time, it's just...

The climbing sections are a fucking nightmare. And you're climbing through like half the fucking game. It's frustrating beyond belief, because the non-climbing parts are great. Every time you think you're done climbing, you encounter another fucking wall two screens later. It really ruins the experience.
