We decided to go on halgar as we are euros.
I think we made the right choice, I imagine we would never see you guys anyways due to time zones and shit.
So far we are really impressed, duoing a dreadknight and a bloodmage, ultimate orc gobbo team!
Yep, I'm 22, really damn close to 23. Great thing about being a cleric is I can roll in a group with anyone, since I don't necessarily have to hit or fight anything.
my love/hate relationship with this game won't end
I left the dark elf newbie area, and discovered that quests actually ARE plentiful and doable and make sense pretty much everywhere else =p
so I get some XPing done, seems like smooth sailing, having fun, etc. then I'm level 12, snugly in a level 10 questing area, right in the middle of a mini quest camp with 1 questgiver and several guards... and a level 22 mob literally comes out of the ground and kills me in 2 hits. why on earth is a level 22 mob there? I've never even seen a mob higher than level 13 anywhere I've been, and a level 22 mob is under the ground by a level 10 questgiver. I wouldn't be ranting about it if I didn't end up trying to go back for my corpse 3 times and of course consequently losing 7500 xp. 10 minutes later, I die again legitimately, but when I get back to my corpse, my tombstone fell through the world and I can't retrieve it... time to swim across the ocean back to the altar to take another 2500 xp hit.
later, I'm doing a quest at some bandit camp with 3 buildings. place is dense with mobs. I have no clue which building has my quest guy. I systematically and carefully clear to each of them, clear them out, making sure not to get more mobs than I can handle, dodging tons of patrols, yada yada. of course my quest mob was in the last house I checked. I was glad I was going to be finally done with the quest. I pulled the dude, who came with one add. I killed them both no problem... but then 4 mobs came in from outside the building. how did they see us and aggro? god knows. all the doors were shut, there was nowhere near line of sight to us. I looted my quest item and took my death like a man. then my options were to clear all the way back to the inside of that house or summon my corpse again. I couldn't bear to look at that camp again so I summoned my corpse. net xp gain for the hard work I put into that quest? -1300.
Really, I don't mind dying when it's my fault... everyone dies in MMO's, it's part of learning. but basically breaking even on xp after a full night of questing, 90% due to bugs causing deaths that aren't my fault, or preventing me from getting my corpse? kinda demoralizing.

First of all, roster updated.
Second of all, I'm still fucking tired.
Third, if you still have the game, and are on today, you and I are going to do some grouping.
BTW, Im playing this with Xzean as Kyranth the Druid. Already joined the Penny Arcadians.
This game is sweet. I am really enjoying the Druid class and my disciple. Once I have my druid up higher though I will probably make a bard alt 'cause after seeing the way songs are done I just had to drool. Damn sweet way of incorporating creation of songs into a game!
So Vanguard was pretty awesome on release when I played a Psionicist. I'm going to activate again over next week. Any cool new stuff I should look out for? Is diplomacy still awesome? Did they make crafting less boring?
Okay, I reactivated and am currently downloading the client. I have no clue what level my characters were, or what server they were on. I also really don't have time to play this (going underway real soon now), but this post was pretty tempting.
Oh, and apparently I have all kinds of rewards to /claim.
Hmm... after reading this thread, kinda has me really interested in playing. Anybody have a trial key they would let me use? Would be much appreciated!
Played around with the game a bit, me and a friend will be rolling on Saredon with you lot (we're in Europe, but the lag doesn't seem bad at all). I'm rolling a Psionicist and my friend will be going Necro, I talked to someone ingame real quick who seemed to think you had enough Psionicists but I'm a sucker for the class so no changing that, hope you'll still have us :P
Third, if you still have the game, and are on today, you and I are going to do some grouping.
I'm going to have to wait a few days to take you up on your kind offer - my trial ran out, but my collector's edition has been ordered from amazon =D
So your love/hate relationship with the game was more overpowering love than fanatical hatred.
yeah, at $15 including shipping for the collector's edition, you really can't go wrong =P
glad your going to keep playind disco
also if you get hit with weird bugs like that mob, or the tomb through the world, don't be afraid to file a petition, the gm's are usually very quick (like less than 5mins a lot of the time) and can restore your exp, sumon your tomb etc.
and ya some quests are just evil with the mob placement/ammount, they may say solo cause they technically are, but if you see that it's usually better to itehr find a friend or just move on and forget them, theres always another 500 quests out there
I haven't been on in a while, but I think my trial is up by now or in the next couple of days anyway. I'm not 100% sold on the game, but it was pretty fun the times I was on. I know you're all gonna tell me to just do it when I ask if I should continue, hmm. I guess I'll order the collector's edition this week.
Tried this on a whim, and am going to continue playing simply because of the noncombat leveling tracks; diplomacy with back-and-forth conversation dialogue has a certain charm to it, and the fact there's separate gear slots for them is a nice touch too.
Usually on as Rukana in-game murdering beasts for their hides or asking noob questions in PA guild chat, though I might look into other classes while this trial continues.
Everyone is talking about trials, is there one now? I am just going off of the OP saying there is none yet. Very interested into getting into the game, even have a friend that is intrigued!

Quite a few people in this thread have friend passes they can give you to try the game out for free for ten days. If you ask nicely, someone's sure to hook you up.
So I rolled on Halgar thinking it was like the euro server and have now found there's not really a difference.
I only have 12 hours /played but annoyingly have /claimed all my rewards so have sent a petition to find out if they are still doing server transfers.
Funny thing is that I forgot I got into the beta but couldn't even load the game, this flagged me as a 16 month veteran though so now my bank is filled with furniture!
I hit level 10 yesterday and got a horse which is cool. Playing a blood mage (goblin ofc) and cant wait to see all the interesting things this class does, seems unlike any other mmo class I've ever played.
Has anyone else made use of the brotherhood feature? Yeah it's slowing my levelling but each time my brother logs on he finds it hilarious to just gain a level or two. Due to the abundance of content I don't really mind levelling like that for the time being.
Oh so they finally added all that stuff in?? That would have kept me playing during release.. me and some guys were basically playing 10-14 hours a day every day from release for about a month or two(with scheduled days off) and after a while it fell apart when we started leveling without the others around.

10-14 hours a day? That would be a surefire way for me to lose interest in a game.
About 4-6 hours a night of that was us just chatting on ventrilo, or whatever. It was a while ago.. before I had a real job or anything lol.. I really can't believe we kept it up as long as we did.
Great times in TK last night. Did anyone grab screens?
We were talking about a fellowship and I would like to get Tristerian in on that. I have to admit I spend most of my time in the group so I would feel a little guilty if a few of you were out soloing a bunch and I wasn't pulling my weight there. Guess you wouldn't have to turn xp off as much then. I don't want to fall so far behind I miss out on that kickass group.
I started up a DK and have to admit they are a lot of fun to play. I am going to play a bit with my bro so he can see how sweet groups are (then hopefully he can find a few that don't suck) but I should be up for a return to TK tonight.
Yeah, I'm thinking that those of us that group on a quite frequent basis should join a Brotherhood so we never outlevel each other. I never really pay attention to my XP anyhow, so I could care less what level I am.
Wow, I'm impressed and intrigued. Does anyone happen to have anymore buddy keys? My friend and I are dying to give this game a shot after being disappointed with AoC. Thanks!
All mine are from the collectors edition. Not from time played. The definitely say 1 per account. My altaholicism is the only reason I haven't actually claimed them yet.

the only reward thats once per account are the fancy bags.
so you could just re-roll for now and play with us, and hope for a transfer later on.
Really? All my /claim items are listed as 1 per account.
Also, real life sucks some times. Haven't been able to get into game for half a week.
you prob read them wrong, I know i've claimed all the furniture/pets/exp potions/fireworks on my alts.
those 100% exp things are nice on alts to get them caught up to friends
