I just orderd the CE for $15 so I'll be joining the PA ranks by the end of the week. I was thinking of playing either a Monk, Disciple, Psionicist or Necromancer.

I've been looking for a downloadable installer so I can make a disc for myself and my friends, but all I can track down is a copy of the launch DVDs. Have any of you guys seen an up to date download?

The only download I have seen is the digital distribution and for some reason SOE wants to charge 40 bucks for that. Makes no sense, I would just go with the launch DVD's and then update. It took about 2 hours to get up and running with that method. Had several people comment on waiting all night on the digital version and it still wasn't done.

That's just the download client. It would be nice if they offered the full installer and updates as a download to save people time and bandwidth.

I'm downloading the DVD ISOs now, since I've misplaced my original discs.

At what level do you start getting cloaks. And is there a vendor that sells cloaks?

I need to find a compilation of quests for this game.

Oh yeah, I'm on the Seradon server, and my name is The Legendary Vaeldron Morningsword of Leth Nurae. I love that The Legendary Vaeldron Morningsword of Leth Nurae is actually what's over my head. It's ridiculous.

    20ish is about right.

and vendor armor is the worst stuff ever. even at low levels, go get a some guildie to whip up some crafter blue set for ya, it'll be neat the best thing to wear until like lv.15ish

First of all, thanks very much for this thread. I picked up the game because of it and (despite a few bugs here and there) am having a blast. I haven't picked a main yet, I'm still experimenting with the various playstyles. Bard is fun, but Blood Mage and Disciple are hard to pass up.

I started a sister thread over at ArsTechnica's GESC forum, and it looks like it's picking up some other recruits. We're kicking around the idea of starting a guild, but there aren't really enough of us so far to make it worthwhile. Mind if I point any non-asshats I know over here to join up with you guys?

So, I started playing VG on launch. I had a solid group of guys I met when I started this. It was me and a shaman(the healing spec I believe) and me and him ran around everywhere. Tsung someplace, a forest valley near it with giant monsters, and at one point in time we spent about a week near a town on this mountain fighting these guys who were around 20/21(I know, Vague). I can rememeber both of us having a blast, but only spurts of it. We would spend SO much time running around, and bouncing between different places because the leveling was SO sporatic. Sometimes the desert area = best xp, but then it would be the asian land.. then back to the desert, then to the forest, etc etc. The last I played was around 25 or so and while I was loving it, it was just SOOO much time involved..

With the recent addition of the traveling stones, and increased frame rates... I am seriously thinking about hopping back in. Last time I did it(about 4 months ago) I found myself completly alone.. with no one responding. Am I still going to face this??

To be more specific, if you play during the day (EST) then there won't be too many people in the guild. But during the evening you will have plenty of company.

I never tried Vanguard at release because I was horrified by word of mouth, so I'm a Vanguard Virgin. I'm so excited.

Yeah okay sorry for not being on much but I'm super ultra mega sick and I can't even sit up long enough to use my computer. You know I'm really sick when it keeps me away from computer games.

I will try to log in with Sindarin a bit more. In the interim, anyone who wants bags or a cloak made can just send me a mail in game. Cloaks are level 26+ and the stats aren't great but you get +5 in the primary stat and +3 in the secondary, with an optional + to either spell warding, melee avoidance, or spell identification. Bags are 24 slot firegrass bags.

And yes, it's all free. I do accept extra stuff that a tailor might find handy, but I have a lot of firegrass and will harvest several stacks more of it before i can get silkbloom, so firegrass isn't a problem.

I also can make T1, T2, or T3 cloth armors for any casters, I just ask that you supply the rare material (if you want it upgraded). Again, send a mail to Sindarin and I'll get around to it whenever I'm on.

Now I need to go lie down.

Well, Hard and I had a little fun. We flew to the gnome city to log out for tomorrow's event fun, and when we crossed the chunk leading to it from the Qa Riverbank, our flying mounts vanished yet we could still fly. Even after the mount timer vanished, we still were able to fly around. So we explored a few of the higher areas of the city and had a good time. We were both afeared of logging for fear of losing our new found super powers. Spoilered for lots of pics.

Thanks for stopping by! Sorry about the Some Random Guy quip ... I dunno, it seemed appropriate at the time.

So everyone was a bit skeptical at first, but it seems to be gaining momentum over there. We've got at least a dozen people so far, and the longer the thread goes the more people we suck in.

Not sure what we'll do about the guild yet, but I appreciate the invitation to join you even if it's temporary. We'll see how it goes.
