Sorry I am not playing with you right now and dungeoneering. I am trapped at my desk, where they have locked me in my office forever. I don't think I'll be going home before after I need to go to sleep, so maybe tomorrow. If not tomorrow, I won't be back on till Monday night. Keep an eye out for Djavoli, he's my buddy and knows I told you guys we wanted to group.
Ha! Not a big deal at all. We checked out the Qa riverbank last night, and wound up blowing through the Hive in about 10 minutes with Pelia and Fychan. We're steadily levelling up- hopefully we'll be more prepared for the Lyceum when we get a group together for it.
Hey folks, I'm another of the Ars Technica refugees, my main char and the one that's actually in the PA guild is Fychan, DE DK (doesn't make a nice acronym like DE SK did in EQ, alas).
Some of us at Ars were thinking of making a Brotherhood that would focus on doing dungeons. Then we discovered that those of us interested weren't really even able to play at the same time. If anyone here would like to do that, I'd be up for it. Aleth and others, had fun with you guys in our brief whirlwind through the bee hive. Are you guys mostly on late evening EST? If so, maybe we could start a brotherhood for mutual exploration and dungeon-plundering. I'm usually on 9-12 EST, sometimes more like 11-12:30.
Loving the game though! Alt-itis is almost debilitating! Thanks for inviting us non-PA-regulars to the guild!

I've got a tight schedule most weeks but in general I try to get on in the afternoons from 6-11 central time. Garnoth and I are brotherhooded up but we could talk about putting something together, if you decide you're interested in that character long-term. We're definitely having a blast so far.
P.S. does anyone have screenshots of the biggest player-made boats? I'd like to see what the guild sized ships look like.

just go down to the docks on NT of Khal and wait for the npc boat to come by, than take a pic, or ride on it.
not that galleons are in the game yet for players.
Wowza, nice. Guess I'll be playing late tonight hehe. Blood Mage is a fine class though? I note by the chart its rather unplayed, which attracts me to it.

Blood Mage's shouldn't run around when they have aggro body pulling more mobs in a 3 dot cave then log when they die in order to avoid me letting them know running around when they have aggro body pulling makes my job harder especially since holding multiple aggro as a DK seems really hard unless I can pop a chain taunt which Murphy's Law says I cannot do.
I played one to level 7 and i was like lololo cloth and went back to my DK.
Wait, you mean to tell me I can instantly log and have my aggro pawned off on someone else? Sweet.
...in reality, I hardly ever play squishy classes. I mean, glass cannons I'm fine with, but healers usually just ain't my thing. We'll see how it goes, and if I dislike it, nothing stopping me from rolling a DK too
Sorry guys, looks like I won't be able to log in until late Saturday night or on Sunday... late night at work tonight, and now I have to be up in 6 hours for another 11 hour day...
So, I want to be a guy that makes boats.. what is the best way to go about this?
I don't know, but Garnoth is trying the same thing. I don't care if boats are largely useless, they are also largely awesome and I want one.
I hit level 18 with the druid last night- man, dps really spikes at certain levels, doesn't it? Also seer's intensity is amazing. 15% haste, 60% movement buff, +40 strength and dex? Also TAPROOOT. I took pictures but they're on the desktop at home. I'll post them this evening, they're purty.
Anyone playing on the pvp server here? From what I understand it's supposed to be pretty unpopulated. So far I haven't seen another soul in the noob zone.
I played the closed and open beta, and about a month into launch and was pretty disappointed. This thread just made me reinstall the game. I just want to know if the PA guild is actually active, not necessarily for questing but just in terms of members being online. I hate joining a guild only to find out that half the members have stopped playing and the other half rarely log on.
Also I have 2 trial code things if anyone wants one. PM me if you want one.

the guild at the moments has about 120 people (65-70 actual people)
theres usually at least 3-4 people min on at any time, evening and weekends it goes up to about 15-20
If I didn't have to fucking work long shifts and early mornings, I'd be on right now. Tomorrow, I have two parties to go to, but Sunday, I don't care where I go, I am going to kill so many creatures.
Well, Rtylershaw started a thread over in GESC on Ars' Openforum, linking The Sneak!'s writeup in the op as his inspiration for giving Vanguard another shot. Lots of people said "hey, that game sounds fun! and most of the hairy bugs are fixed? sign me up!" so people sought buddy keys, ordered/bought the game, passed around more buddy keys, and probably 20-30 of us gave the game another spin. We started talking about forming an Ars guild. Somewhere in there, The Sneak! was made aware of (or found?) our thread, and posted in it a few times, etc. He extended the offer that if we needed a guild to play with either temporarily until we got one formed of our own, or even longer-term, that we might be welcome with the Penny Arcadians.
So after more debate and some in-game discussion in channel "Ars" (which anyone is welcome to join if you want some people to chat with on unguilded alts), we decided that we were probably looking at ~15 people and that it might not be enough to sustain a particularly active guild given disparate time zones and whatnot. Knowing that this game often hinges on grouping to have the best in-game experience, we basically decided that if nobody minded we'd rather try and join up with you all. We figured with your what? 30ish active players? and 10-20 more from Ars, we'd have a pretty solid and active guild going. Better time zone coverage for people who don't play normal US primetime hours, and more people on during those primetime hours for questing/dungeon groups.
So that's the story. I'll have to bookmark this post so that it's easy to quote whenever someone else asks this question... "OMG Who are all the random nubs in guild?"
Wow, how come no one mentioned the Diplomacy mini-game? Man, that's freakin' sweet. I'll give a bit of a break-down from what my newbish self understands of it for those who are interested...
Its a little card game. Your goal is to get your Diplomacy Points to 0 before your opponent. To do this, you must currently be "winning" the conversation. There is a little peg with a numerical attachment that you must have on your side of the line in order to be "winning" the conversation. Every round you are winning, your Diplomacy Points go down. Every card you play, in your hand of 5 total, will do a number of things. First is its value against the Diplomacy Meter, increasing (or decreasing) your status. Second, there are 4 different methods of debate (Demand, Reason, Inspire, and Flatter) that the cards affect. Some cost points from these categories, some steal points from your opponent, some add points to your opponent, etc. The third important thing about the cards is their down time, how many rounds it will be until you can use that card again. This often varies.
All in all, it's a pretty neat game and you have a separate leveling for your Diplomatic side as opposed to your Adventuring and Crafting levels. Now its time to go convince a bunch of Orcs and Goblins to fight instead of retreat, hurrah for Orcish Demanding Diplomacy!
lots of people have mentioned it, maybe just not recently I also love it :> I do have some complaints though. like presence. I'm level 13 diplo and there's some level 4 diplo quests I can't do because I don't have enough presence. Also, I wish you could save a card configuration. Like, my primary card layout destroys any deck... as long as the Inspire column isn't grayed out. I would like to be able to save my primary deck template so I can have an alternate template for when the blue column is grayed out, without having to paw through my entire 8 pages of cards. also the fact that diplo quests often have you travel across the world practically, and that it's a huge grind, suck too =P
but other than that, I love it

So you guys arent on a pvp server right? What is vp like in thi game? I am somewhat interested but PVP is very important to me. Lack of info on that s pretty much what is keeping me on the edge here.

I suggest staying away if you are really set on PVP. The game is designed solely around PVE and the only PVP server is deserted. However, speaking as someone who loves PVP the game does more than fine without it.
