This is true. Things typically die too fast for the mana back from wisdom to make a difference and my mana bar fills up with JoTW proccing. On bosses, sure, maybe I'll judge wisdom.

Thats always been the case though.

Definitely making my pally my main. This is so fucking fun.

Dude, where were you when I was talking about clearing Ramparts and Blood Furnace in like 45 minutes. Psssh!
Apparently I skipped a screen shot of the 2nd kill in BF, but whatever.

Seriously, once the patch hits I'm hoping to make a ton of money by doing this regularly. Charging some lv60 like 50g or some such to run him through something fairly easy. The only problem is in Underblog the first boss hits really hard. Maybe I wasn't paying attention but he kicked my ass so I gave up.

Fuck yes! Now I have something to do tonight. What kind of gear are you rocking, because my Pally has some super shit gear (The PvP gear from vendorslol and an S2 greatsword).

Armory is busted right now, but my paladin, Phender, is rocking mostly tier 4 level stuff. Red Belt of Battle as well, with the S1 two hand mace.

edit: I'm going to take another crack at a Coilfang instance today. Maybe I can find out what I'm doing wrong.

My sub 9k hp paladin with ~1750 unbuffed ap and 26 crit (I'd link Halvard from Earthen Ring on the armory but it appears to be down) was able to kill the first boss in underbog, if that means anything. He had a 1% wipe on the second boss though :x

Yeah I looked last night, and figured it out rather quickly. One thing I noticed is that you have some tanking pieces, like the necklace. Which you could pretty easily replace with SSO might pendant, or if you don't have the rep, the BoE neck with two gem slots off the AH. Is that a jewelcrafting one? I don't remember.

Yeah, basically have zero SSO rep, although my Rogue has a ton of JC recipes so I should be able to make him a necklace easily.

As for the tanking pieces, yeah I know, but considering I never really played my Pally as ret before I had zero DPS plate banked. My boots are atrocious, but whatever, that shit is going to get replaced super fast in wotlk anyways.

    Why kings and not strength?

Blessing of Sanctuary is pretty nice with aoe grinding in the beta, the "kill x mobs" quests become just silly with the ton of mana I get back from doing a good chunk of them at once. I honestly don't see myself using kings.

Also, move the 5 pts from deflection to seals of the pure, the extra damage will help out in killing things faster.

I would say drop ardent for seals of the pure. Especially if your talking about the grind to 80. Pumping out more dps is always good.

This has been my idea for a 70 build. After long negotiation with others I feel its the strongest. Then as I level I fill in Judgment of Just, then Imp Judgments, then Ardent defender last.

I'm happy with that plan so far.

As far as I've been told so far, Protadins want spell damage, not strength. I'd rather have 10% more of every stat than 15% of just strength.

Thats pre 3.0. Its changing dramatically then. You won't have any gear with spell thanks to that conversion talent at the bottom. Its all about str now.

Well its not bad to try everything out. I know I'm gunna. But from what it seems like, blessing of Sanct will be pretty much the only blessing you use. 3% damage reduction and 2% mana regain is gunna be alot more useful then 150 hp.

They need to just axe kings. Paladins shouldn't be the only one with a 10% stat buff, according to the current philosophy. And the current state of min-maxing means that every bleeding edge guild is going to want at least one pally with 5/5 kings.

is there any sort of option to enable a headsup display in your scrollin combat text when Art of War procs and gives you an instant Flash of Light? I have a lot of trouble noticing, and although it happens everytime you crit, sometimes i don't regiser that i've crit, and then I'll crit again, and only get one FoL where I could hae had two.

The default scrolling combat text will say, in fairly big green letters, <Art of War>. Or you can just hit your FoL whenever you crit wiht CS or DS.

Uh, GCD will usually be there to rear its ugly head to keep you from casting your instants.

And the basic scrolling combat text will inform you if you turn it on.

    <ART OF WAR!>

Does the same thing the moment they get into Hammar! range on their health.

I can't be bothered to look up at the bar and see that HAMMAR!

To Laurlana or any other holy paladin thinking of going holy/ret for judgements of the wise..
This game evolves. We have totally changed out minds on things I never thought we'd change our mind about.

It's not the intention that the premiere healing build is half Ret. We'll get that fixed.

Does Corruption reset swing timer if talented to instant? That's a different class that doesn't melee much if at all, but that's the only other talents-can-make-it-instant-cast that's coming to mind. That and the instant shadowbolt thing they have.

well yeah, theres precedent for it to maybe interrupt swing timer, but it somewhat defeats the purpose of Art of War (ret paladins healing themselves to spare healer mana without interrupting DPS) if it does reset it.

also, if I didn't love tanking so much (not necessarily as a paladin, tanking in general) I'd definitely be Holy in WotLK, its bucketloads of fun.

I still don't like that paladins are unique among the classes in that if they are not specced, they cannot do their job.

A Warrior at 0/0/0 can still deal damage with most of his skill intact (heroic strike, whirlwind)
Or can tank, with Sunder and Shield Block

A Druid can heal, he has all of his healing spells, Lifebloom, Rejuv, etc. Can tank. All with 0/0/0.

A paladin with 0/0/0 lacks the defining abilities of Ret, Crusader Strike, which basically limits him to autoattack + judge. If he's an Alliance paladin, he can't even use a damage seal, has to use Seal of Righteousness or something.
He lacks the defining abilities of Prot, Holy Shield and Avenger's Shield. He can basically Righteous Fury and Consecrate.
While he has the two base healin spells of holy, he lacks Holy Shock or Illumination, which one could argue are class defining abilities.

The general philosophy for all other classes seems to be, with a 0/0/0 spec, they can still do the job of any spec, using a recognizable rotation, but nowhere near well enough to be considered for a raid spot. A paladin with 0/0/0 might be able to do a Holy paladins job, but probably not a Prot paladin's job and certainly not a Ret paladin's job.
