You guys are still bitching and foaming at the mouth? It's an e-magazine. Do you guys know what that is?
And now you guys are comparing it to Xbox Live and how Nintendo does internet service better and all kinds of crazy shit. It's just an e-magazine! So a few big demos will be timed exclusive on it. The only thing that changes is that a big demo may be timed exclusive for Qore for an issue. That's it. A demo. You'll still get to grab it for free later.
Of course, you hypocrites will bitch for another 20 or 30 pages and then shut up after awhile, going "meh, who cares" once things are actually in motion. That's how things like this usually are. I don't hear anyone crying like little girls anymore about Xbox Live Gold timed exclusive for demos or services like IGN and Gamespy and Gamestop. You stopped caring, because you realized it doesn't really impede function. You're still going to use the PSN the same as you always did with no changes, except now you can buy an e-magazine that may or may not have a timed exclusive demo in it.
But that's not going to stop all the conspiracy theories about how they're going to change everything and make us pay 100 dollars a year for PSN and the mandatory rectal invasion accessory that attaches to the Dual Shock 3 and fucks you in the ass. Anything to make an excuse not to want the system anymore.

Fuck IGN, Gamespy, and Gamespot. I am not spending money for a small "insider" exclusive video. I am not paying just to be moved up in a queue, and they can fuck themselves if they think I will. It sure as hell does imped function.

You misunderstand my point. PSN and its free features have long been advertised as such, specifically as one of the X360 countermeasures in the PS3's advertising campaign. Now, some of those features are being "modified" to beef up the non-free Qore project, which in any right-minded business model would be supported through the revenue brought by the ubiquitous ads mentioned in the press releases and previews. The move lacks integrity.
but it's not a modification of the psn at all
Incorrect. The current PSN model contains 100% of all demos available through digital distribution. The PSN model after Qore's introduction will contain 100% - (all demos exclusive to Qore, for a period of time which lies between 1 second and the heat death of the universe) of all PS3 demos available for digital distribution. The system has been modified.
it's a completely separate product. there'll still be free demos and dlc and themes on the store. always. as soon as there aren't, come back and then start crying, but it won't happen. i also know for sure that sony won't put anything that live users get free into this. they'll tee up with it for a couple of first-party demos before it goes bust. it's not worth worrying about
Nobody here is crying. Stop cheapening the debate.
Can you cite the source for what you claim to know for a fact? Have Sony or their partners in the Qore project released details regarding exclusivity periods of which we are not aware?
Its pre-bust lifespan isn't what we're talking about here. Everyone here knows that a project whose unpopularity leads to an unprofitable lack of support will dry up and go away. What we're talking about is mostly the idea itself and the incomprehensibility of the mindset which, given factors both internal and external, brought it into being.

have you seen qore? watch it. watch that video. they're never going to fit every demo into that. for every demo that's in qore, you have to download to use, all at once. it's a compiled executable of its own. so if there were, say, two demos in any one 'episode', it would be 2-3 gigs big, plus HD video content. every demo for a month? fucking blu-ray size. it wouldn't fit on your goddamn hard drive

You failed entirely to address any of my points. This is understandable, as you display a lack of understanding of them.
i just don't understand your argument. do you think that $3 a month will supplement anything more than the ridiculous production costs of getting a well-known presenter to give interviews and round-ups of a stable of games? no. you think that this is a roll-out on top of the psn to undercut the 'free' stuff, but it can't be because it's done in a way that will cost as much to implement as it will reap
But realistically there's no real way for them to reduce the price of the game unless it was downloadable. Maybe it sends you a coupon for $3 off at Gamestop or something, but they'd get you in the ass with all the reserving games. Then lie to you and tell you they don't have it..
Sorry. Almost turned into a rant.
Couldn't it work with some type of online authorization "unlocking" a physical copy from demo status to full status? IOW - the old PC model of shareware.
Of course, that opens a whole new can o' worms with people "cracking" PS3 demos - especially considering the web browser.

This flawed assessment of my beliefs regarding the financial aspect of the Qore project reflects a lack of actually reading said beliefs. I believe that the project, with a right-minded business model behind it, would be able to be financially self-sufficient without the addition of a fee on the end-user.
you think that this is a roll-out on top of the psn to undercut the 'free' stuff, but it can't be because it's done in a way that will cost as much to implement as it will reap
Another flawed assessment. I see it as a move which, as a paid service which uses elements which were once entirely free within the PSN, undercuts Sony's integrity. Whether or not it is financially viable is only of interest to me inasmuch as it affects this.
EDIT: In addition, I cannot pass judgment on Qore's financial viability without having the paperwork regarding same in front of me. I can, however, infer from the fact that it features an end-user fee that it requires one to exist. I make no claims toward malice aforethought from Sony. I see it as a blunder rather than some sort of deliberate maliciousness.
hang on.. so you have to pay extra for the demos or is that part of the subscription to Qore?
I mean if it's part of the subscription, the Beta thing sounds kinda nice. the demo I don't really care. no one should ever have to pay for demo.
Demos are ads and people should not have to pay for ads, no matter how fun it may be.
you pay $3 and you get an episode of 'qore' in your game menu with access to a special, separate download area. looking at the video, the first issue will have a socom beta, a socm theme, and the full game of calling all cars
hardly a rip-off

Only that month's content.
To get Qore, simply log onto PSN and go to the PLAYSTATION Store, as you would purchase any other form of downloadable content. Once the single Episode or annual subscription is purchased, that month’s episode will be downloaded under the “Game†heading on the Cross Media Bar (XMB). Users who purchase the “Qore Annual Subscription†will notice only that month’s episode is available to download. The following month, the new episode will automatically appear in your download list. The introductory price for Qore is $2.99 for a single episode and $24.99 for an annual subscription of 13 episodes, using your PLAYSTATION Network wallet.
