Did I say that they'd release them a year after the game is out?
Or did I make up that some demos are in fact released at the same time as the game?
No, my point was that assuming that Sony is going to release any demos that are part of the paid service before the game comes out is wrong, especially when saying that it'll obviously be that way because it makes sense.
Why is it wrong to assume Sony will follow the standards, like Neva said? Is it because they're Sony and you hate them?
Edit: Oh, right, most people rent games instead of buying them, not to see if the game is worth the $50. My bad there.

Because many times I've seen as part of a magazine or other purchase a demo disc for an already-released product? It's an inconsistently held standard, and the argument "Well it'd make sense!" is a bad one.
Dropping friend codes would make sense too, wouldn't it? Has that happened?

Here's the thing though. They aren't exclusive demos being released after the product comes out.

We don't know if Qore's demos will ever show up on PSN.
So that can't be used as an attack or defense at this point.
I agree, but tell that to all the people who basing their attacks on that.
And to the people who aren't? Or did you find any of those before you self-admittedly stopped reading and decided to jump in?
Well smart ass, I have been catching up on reading since I posted my original. I put that preface in there because I had to comment on alot of the nonsense people spout for no other reason than to complain that Sony is doing anything (good or bad) just because they are Sony. Don't just assume that I wouldn't follow up and read a bit more to stay with the conversation.
But to the people who aren't using that as their basis for attack, please enlighten me as to how this ruins your day? As I said before, Sony is not gimping their service nor are they demanding you pay for the content. It is merely additional content that you can purchase if you choose to. Honestly, I really couldn't care less if a demo is held back a bit longer to let people who pay play it first. Also, correct me if I am wrong here, but it doesn't state that all demos are going this route, just "big titles" whatever the hell that is supposed to mean. That could be big first party, 3rd party, games they think are big (lair, anyone?) and anything in between. Point is, I don't know exactly what the service will provide, except for the press release showing all the bullet points, and neither do you. We should all wait and see what the service brings to the table before getting the pitchforks and torches is all I am saying.
If you had actually done a significant amount of reading in this thread, you would see that A) I have already answered your question (albeit without it "ruining my day"), all of your alleged points have been addressed ad nauseum, and C) the assumption that a significant amount of responses to the idea fall in the realm of the torch-and-pitchfork knee-jerk reaction is a faulty one.
Pretty sure Veronica Belmont is actually credible.
Jessica Chobot had no technical knowledge what so ever. Veronica Belmont has moderate to moderately high technical know how.
She was a producer and content person for CNET, also a host of a couple of their shows, and currently works for Revision 3 as the co-host with Patrick Norton (from ZD-TV/Tech TV) on their show Tekzilla. She's actually a pretty good host who can actually field tech related questions pretty well, and is a decent writer to boot.
The Tech TV guys have vouched for her for years, bringing her on TWIT and Rev 3 shows long before she worked for Rev 3, and have had nothing but good to say about her. She's more than just some airhead who is famous online for being pretty. I don't know anything about her role with Qore, but I also like the fact that she stated she wouldn't have anything to do with console/gaming related stories over at Rev 3 from this point forward.
Wait... because of the potential conflict of interest with her paid position at Sony? A female tech reporter who can write AND has scruples?
I... I think I'm in love.
Well, your opinion of her did a 180 degree turn around. Heh.
Like it was said earlier, catch her on Tekzilla. It's pretty apparent she knows what she's doing when it comes to tech related content/equipment.

It's been so long since I've posted here, I've removed my signature since most of what I had here were broken links. Shows over, you can carry on to the next post.
A quadrillion quibbles assault my eyes! Most of this thread qontains quotability and quizzically quiets my objeqtions against the Qore. Thanqfully the arguments have quit, leaving a queer gap in the debate and a quotient that needs filling. It calls for quaqqery and the resolve not to quaver! Quickly now, lest I ask for quelling of the q aqtions at hand!

Renting is hardly paying to try out a game. When you rent you get access to the full game, not just the first 2 levels.
Rental = limited time
Demo = limited content
edit: beat'd
It's too late for that, I say we take off and nuke the thing from orbit.
It's the only way to be sure.

Hell it's also the current standard.
Sorry I let my sony hate come out there.

It does seem to be a little bit of a trend.
Where Madness and the Fantasical Come to Play
did you notice the ps3 is still getting a civ revolutions demo, free, this week? in the glorious opening week of qore?
this is nothing to do with demos. the only thing it will affect are are maybe a few betas, or 'pre-release' early first party demos.
...
They said that it'll have something to do with demos.
They explicitly said that it'll have something to do with demos.
Ok I understand almost the people assuming that the big demos coming to Qore meaning that they'll be timed, early-release demos.
Saying that it has nothing to do with demos? That's not even extrapolating, that's completely contradicting the press release.
Made me laugh - although I've been studying elegiac poetry for the last hour.
Your inaccuracy did shock me to the Qore, though.
okay then it's hardly at all about demos
sheesh
