Well, the same could be said of the Wii. I figure, if people want to pay for it and enjoy it, it must be worth it to them. I'll never get it, but they do and that's all that matters to them.

So when is this coming out? I'm waiting for impressions.

It's supposed to be on the US store today, and the update doesn't usually happen until later in the day. When it does hit, I'm going to be taking the plunge and checking it out, so I'll post some impressions.

I'm fully expecting mediocrity, but I never played Calling All Cars and between that and the Socom beta, it's worth taking the plunge to me.

Wait, we get the Socom beta from this issue? Hey, if that's the case, I may have to give it a try then.

Hey, everyone. We know you’re waiting for today’s PLAYSTATION Store weekly update, but it’s not quite ready. We will inform you right here when the Store update goes live. In the meantime, please take a look at what will be heading your way this week:
    Qore Digital Magazine

Qore: Presented by The PLAYSTATION Network is a monthly interactive video production covering the world of PlayStation. Qore provides its audience with exclusive behind-the-scenes access to developers and their games, from both the SCE Worldwide Studios and the third-party community, where the audience member can control and direct the content.

So I'm stuck between suffering another year of PS3 or daring another 360 redring / send in / redring extravaganza. This is kind of funny overall (paying for useless interviews / demos) but it's a different kind of funny since they spent all that effort on this.

There are so many better ideas for them to have worked on, it's bizarre that they settled on this. Paying for a demo, Christ...

I'm worried Qore found a way to open both airlocks at the same time :(.

More sincerely, if they ditched the demo thing entirely which people feel sour about, and focused almost entirely on behind the scenes and in development stuff that people otherwise wouldn't get to see (betas are a good idea but concept/tech demos would be pretty cool on a system as powerful as the PS3), and the content was delivered in the internet style of 'here it is as it's found or made' rather than magazine style of 'here's what we came up for you this month, hopefully you don't keep up with the scene or you've read most of it already' it would be kind of neat.

I mean gaming sites can be pretty good (look where we are.) A company with dollars to put behind that sort of a project could do something good.

But seriously who expects that sort of thing out of corporations? Excellence in that sort of an endeavour seems to spring from truly dedicated fans, but uh... well, 'Qore', right? Convince me some fans came up with that.

I read some impressions over at GAF...and decided to buy Commando 3 instead. I don't regret my decision. It sounds like they put a lot of work into the interface and content for Qore, but how often is Capcom going to bring back Commando?

The annual subscription is currently bundled with "Calling All Cars" (as in, if you buy an annual sub you get CAC for free). I'm not sure if it makes essentiall a video podcast worth it, though, but it would be a nice touch if they offer free PSN games with annual subs.

They said that the interface is really slick, but the unskippable ads start to get annoying, as I guess they play before each item you select. Also, none of the Custom DLC is actually up yet, including the SOCOM theme.

It was more the content that didn't interest me. It's got a trailer for Hulk (the new movie, not the game), a couple of Force Unleashed videos, and a SoulCalibur IV video, as well as bits about Afro Samurai and Secret Agent Clank. Apparently all the video content and interviews are exclusives, so that's good.

The Burger King ads are causing the most strife, as they're the only completely irrelevant content. And, I agree with your thoughts on GAF exposure, I was just starved for impressions.

That's true. :D The 20 GB wasn't that bad of a deal. I kind of missed the wifi at first, but wired connections are always more stable. I eventually switched my 360 from wifi to wired because of slower speeds. I'm just going to have to go out and get a bigger HDD. It's 2.5" SATA, yeah?

In case anyone is wondering, Qore issue one is about 1.5 GB (1577 MB to be exact).

So it looks like demos are indeed free outside of Qore - and what you're getting is access to specific, event driven demos along with access to betas.

Can we get the thread title changed please? Also, those who were freaking out about this all week can commence relaxing and posting their "oh, it's cool, forget I said anything" statements around nowish.

It's actually less than three dollars a month if he bought a subscription. :) You know, just sayin'. You can buy it single issue for three dollars or you can subscribe annually (13 issues) for 25 dollars. I'm not subscribing for a year because I don't know how this good e-magazine is going to be, now or later. I just bought the single issue to give it a try.

How's the video and content of the actual magazine portion, then? I may subscribe. 25 isn't too much, and part of me just knows there's going to be a LittleBigPlanet beta, or the Home beta through Qore, so I want to get in on that.

Okay, found Secret Agent Clank on the Playstation Store, so I changed things. Maybe the delay was in reaction to the griping about demos, so they made them free? Or was this all a wacky misunderstanding? Either way, they're there.
