I'm on my first playthrough of the game, and I decided to play it on Delta.
I'm at the mission in that construction-zone valley in which you clear out the landing zone for the VTOLs.
It's the one after the player obtains the gauss rifle for the first time.
In my current save file, I'm cowering underneath a ditch while surrounded by 50 koreans.
Help?
If you're insisting on starting from there, I'd suggest popping a couple of smoke grenades and clearing out to a better position.
I'm going to guess that your main issue is probably the nano-suited dudes. They move slow, so a couple of shots from a gauss rifle ought to do it. Those guys can be put down temporarily with tranq darts as well, so use them if you have to.
For the rest of the soldiers, just depends on how you want to go about it. Really there aren't any more soldiers there than there have been in other missions. The landing zone is actually located in a good position for you to be sniping at opponents from shrubs, minor hills and stuff. Just be certain to re-locate if you do, even if you don't think they've spotted you. I've been flanked more than once during a sniping spree. Re-locating also means that if they were trying to get you in your previous location you've often got a good shot at them whilst they're unaware.
Otherwise you can probably run or drive right up to the (refinery?) and start taking them on with a shotgun. Be sure to make good use of the local cover (buildings, fences etc) and shift your suit mode where necessary. If things get hairy you can just speed on out of there or strength jump over a fance, then come at them from a different angle whilst their backs are turned.
If you don't have one already, I'd suggest keeping a launcher ready (there's one on some creates on the ground with some ammo and an ML on there, so you can grab that if you have to. IIRC it's near the back, close to the fence overlooking the train tracks)
I'm thinking of actually picking up Crysis, based on some of the discussion in this thread about how sandboxy it is.
Q6600 at 2.4ghz, 9600GT, 2gb ram: shouldn't give me too much trouble, right?
yeah not max dx10 settings but high on dx10...you should of got the 8800gt though man..I'm sorry it's a very nice computer though, that q6600 is a great piece of work, should oc it, you can get it to 2.7-2.8 with out changeing voltages, so it's like the same temp and its quite an fps boost
Hurray for Warbear! I've played through Crysis like four times and I've officially 'beaten' multiplayer; it's time for the next installation. I can't friggin' wait.
As for a good strategy on the town siege: try blowing up the gas station to create a ruckus and make sure to snipe the dudes behind the M60s. They'll mow you down like a dirty weed.
It is also great fun to snipe the gas station from outside the range they will actually hear the shot. Just watch as the fireball bursts into the sky and everyone in the base starts running around in a panic.
Don't forget, if you want a stealth takedown on low ammo, maximum strength + riflebutt will do the trick as well. It is however nowhere near as fun as fists, it might be a bit quieter though.
Reading this thread has shown me how much I have to look forward to on my second playthrough of Crysis. I overused cloak on the first runthrough, so I'm looking forward to messing about more with the other abilities (Punching through walls? That works?!?! I am going to enjoy this.)
As for Crysis Warhead - I think the choice to set it in a similar location could be a good move. There are plenty more scenarios that could be created on the island - Many more villages like the hostage rescue. In addition we haven't seen anything that really represents a large command and control base short of the Mountain. Or how about an airfield? Crucially though it goes back to the business of Me + Supersuit + Jungle vs Korean Army, as it should be!

Do a no-cloak run. Seriously it's easier than you might think it is (there's plenty of cover in the forests. If you're prone in good cover guards will literally walk a few feet in front of you and not see you.). It really changed how I viewed and approached situations. You start creating more opportunities for yourself just in order to survive, displacing and scouting, using distractions, and generally trying to think on your feet.
Will this one be as mediocre as the original? Really I played it for about a half an hour and got bored
I'm seriously considering making a rule against saying "this game sucked. I played it for half and hour and it sucked. why does it suck so bad?"
newsflash: if you played a game for half an hour you don't know shit
If you judged Mass Effect based on the first 5 hours it would suck.
Sometimes you have to play a while to get to the greatness in a game.
Man I played some shitty game called Chrono Trigger or something. I played it for like 5 minutes and couldn't take it anymore! All I got to do was run around some dumb fair!

Really?!
I voted for Catalack and he won the race. From this point on I knew I would love this multi-racial horse race betting sim.
Boy, was I in for a surprise.
So we all know crysis SP was awesome and the MP was gimp fest. We also agree on what made the first game awesome.

MAWR WEAPONS AND URBAN SETTINGZ. Fuck thats what I want anyway...imagine your like down town new york that is completely desolate, then alien beam blows up a building and your objective is to evacute the building your in thats like 50 stories and is colapsing!
But seriously I don't really know what you were thinking...explain please what would make it perfect
My Japanese friend tried Crysis for half an hour and said it made him nauseous.
Zomg, good thing you didn't make him manipulate more than one thumbstick at a time too.
I think what would make the expansion perfect is some freaking co op. I know its wishful thinking but I could give a rat's ass about MP if there is co op madness to be had.
Dixon misses points like he's a Public Relations adviser.
ah...coop yes I am a bit slow, I blame the migraine thats been killing me all day, now you may ask why Im on the computer then...Im sadistic, thats why
Ah ok. I'm doing well enough, I was just hoping for more distance on that barrel throw... the exploding ones never seem to make it far enough.
Like I said earlier, anything you want to adjust like that is easily done by going into the relevant difficulty .cfg file. You may or may not want to hold off on doing so until you've completed the game before you go changing stuff.
Personally, I gave myself a super fast running speed with low suit drain. The Flash ain't got nothin' on me!
In your case, if you want to increase your suit punching power, just insert:
cl_strengthscale = n
into the bottom of your difficulty .cfg file (there are 4 difficulty files). In this case 'n' is the suit strength multiplier (I think you can go to 2 decimal places). I'm not sure whether it increases throwing strength as well, but I think it does. I haven't tried it myself so I can't guarantee it works either. Otherwise you might have to try editing the suit config in the SDK (not actually all that difficult to understand).
Ah ok. I'm doing well enough, I was just hoping for more distance on that barrel throw... the exploding ones never seem to make it far enough.
Use Speed, sprint for a second, then immediately switch to Strength and then throw the item.
It takes some coordination, but it's worth it. A similar technique can be used for crazy jumps.
In the jumps case though, just turn on suit hotkeys and double tap jump while sprinting. Doesn't always work but it usually does.
So you know, with suit shortcuts on, double tap of prone and crouch cloaks, double tap of melee and jump strength modes and double tap shift sets speed mode.
It's the reason I sometimes randomly "dip" in my let's play, double tapping crouch.
Morninglord on
(PSN: Morninglord) (Steam: Morninglord) (WiiU: Morninglord22) I like to record and toss up a lot of random gaming videos here.

Yes, the double taps are quite handy. I still haven't fully mastered them, and I haven't played the game in quite some time so I'm probably rusty.

Throw it into the sky. You will not see a dip in its trajectory.
I think mine might've flown into the sun.
I like to throw the turtles, also koreans fly pretty far if you get a running start. It's really quite funny how if your using a korean as a meat shield the enemies seem to shoot at you full spray with no sense of helping there friend...

I find they tend to hesitate a lot more before shooting. Can often give you a window of opportunity.
Of course, what I usually do is just hurl my meat-shield into his mate. Usually not in strength mode, so I just wait for them to get back up and then do it again. And again if necessary.
Shit, I beat the "Rescue this asian girl" mission. Learning that Strength made you more accurate was pretty instrumental in that. Also, jumping off the cliff to go around the backside of that base with the broken wooden bridge was awesome.

I am playing the onslaught mission right now, while using the frame output command to make glorious 60fps 1080p video with all the fixin's and graphics turned to maximum.

Same here, but I expect that it will be just like Farcry, and it will be something that isn't also on PC.

Coop.
I never asked for this!
My only question is: Do the powerups increase in power eventually? I kind of expected more of a punch with strength on...
No but once you get more comfortable with the powers you will do infinitely better.

Read this as a chicken coop and slowly nodded to myself with a smirk.
'Yeah. I can see that.'

Really people bowling can be it's own minigame.
Can't. Stop. Laughing.
Like it actually vanished before I saw it start to dip.
It doesn't dip. You can throw them horizontally to the same effect.
Which is now my new strategy. Throw multiple frogs at an upcoming camp, then assault.
Funniest thing ever.
Drive yourself into a building full of Koreans, causing a whole bunch of chaos, leaving a mess of dead Koreans and a destroyed everything.
Use the remaining Koreans as projectiles for other Koreans.
I can never tire of this, its just so awesome.
We don't hate, we just pick on anyone in an FPS with a gun and an attitude.
Believe me, if I could give a gun to that turtle, I would.
Its a FPS, and they aren't playing Starcraft at the time.
What the hell do you want me to do? Offer them some Tea?!
IIRC you can throw mugs at people. They might have tea, you never know.
