Okay, seeing as the Gamespot forums I frequent for help are usually dead when it comes to VC releases, I came here.
So, Sonic 2: I'm in the first act (i think) of the Hill Top Zone, a mountain-themed area. I'm pretty sure it's the first act, but I might have it wrong, If it becomes an issue I'll just suicide to check. Twice now, I've encountered what appear to be the typical sort of loop where you have to run quickly up it to pass, only these ones plunge down into the ground. The problem is that they just END, and go directly into the solid earth, and I've yet to find a way to break through. The first time, if memory serves, Tails somehow glitched through the ground and broke the blockage in the ground for me, so I could pass, but I encountered a second one of these hoops-into-the-earth, and couldn't pass it. After like 5 minutes, I suicided, hoping to find a different path through the level, but was bumped back past the first hoop, and was unable to get Tails to break it again. So, how do I pass these parts? The game's suspended for whenever I find out, either from dumb luck or from somebody here. I hope my info on where I am is specific enough for this problem.

Make sure Sonic is curled into a spin dash during the loop. If not he will just hit the ground like an idiot. Simply tap down during the loop and you are set.
EDIT: For good measure Gent, try revving up a spin dash and then going into the loop THAT way. Works every time.
haha, if you start playing Sonic 3, when you get to casino night zone, use up and down on the d-pad to move the giant floating barrels out of the way when you are spinning around on top of them. Holy fuck, talk about a brick wall. NOTHING in that game tells you how to do that.
