Disgruntled LucasArts employees spill the beans...
According to reports, LucasArts has gotten shot of around 100 staff. As a result, some particularly annoyed employees leaked information that there is a KOTOR 3 project with BioWare and it is within the MMO genre. Some other unnanounced titles were revealed as Battlefront 3, another LEGO Indiana Jones game, and a Star Wars lightsaber game for the Nintendo Wii.
As well as the Knights of the Old Republic MMO, these former employees have also been revealing other as yet unannounced titles in the LucasArts schedule. These include the much expected Battlefront 3 (probably in development at Free Radical Design), another LEGO Indiana Jones game, the Euphoria-driven Indiana Jones games unveiled at E3 2006, and a Star Wars lightsaber game for Nintendo's Wii. The final game is likely to be the Clone Wars game first hinted at last week.
Although games such as Fracture and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed are too far along the development cycle to be affected by the sackings, other projects may well be. These sackings will leave LucasArts short staffed and reports suggest that the publisher will likely be outsourcing their projects more frequently in future.
No, that sucks for anyone who wants to continue the story of KOTOR period. MMOs tend to put stories in a permanent state of stasis from which there is no escape.
1. KotOR 3, MMO or not, would be infinitely better than KotOR 2 if Bioware is back at the helm. Fuck you for ruining a good thing, Obsidian.
1-i. But I agree with Accualt that Bioware should go with a Mass Effect MMO instead. I love the action/RPG fusion of that game, but it only really works for a universe where no one has lightsabers or vibroswords.
2. If they're making another Lego Indiana Jones game, it's almost certainly about Legend of the Cyrstal Skull. Legend of the Crystal Skull was a silly enough movie WITHOUT legos. On the other hand, if they want to remake Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis for me, well then yes please.

Yay, Battlefront 3. That's been rumored for awhile. Not too pleased if KotOR 3 turns out to be an MMO.
Well that's nothing new. It's been rumored that this is what Bioware Austin has been working on since it's inception.
I was under the impression that it was rumored a KotOR MMO was in production, not necessarily as KotOR 3. It could be good, but I want the continuation of the story as a focused single-player game.

Fixed that for you.
Its fairly well known that Lucasarts pushed for a christmas release regardless of the state of the game which goes to show what a money-grubbing bunch of whores it has become.

Okay, I'd be a bit irritated if they didn't give us a proper end to the KOTOR "trilogy" and all, because I've never really played an MMO where the story was anything more than a reason to produce more grind quests. On the other hand, it's a Star Wars KOTOR MMO, which mean's I'll have to buy and play it, because I'm just that much of a Star Wars whore.
No, that sucks for anyone who wants to continue the story of KOTOR period. MMOs tend to put stories in a permanent state of stasis from which there is no escape.
Fuck.
They don't all do that.
City of Villains very clearly has a story arch that starts at level 1 and ends at 47+, along with tons of smaller story archs along the way.
On the other hand, it's a Star Wars KOTOR MMO, which mean's I'll have to buy and play it, because I'm just that much of a Star Wars/Bioware whore.
I love Star Wars games. I love Bioware. For all I care this could be an empty box with a turd and a manual and I'd still buy it. And by God I'd enjoy it too.

So true. Bioware could make an MMO where all the players can be are astromech droids performing menial tasks and I'd willingly purchase it.

I've heard that rumor, but I'm not sure I believe it. KotORII was going to sell well regardless of when it was released based on the strength of KotOR. You not only have to accept the idea that LucasArts is run by money grubbing whores--and I do--but you'd have to accept the fact that they're too fucking retarded to understand the market.

Also, Age of Conan with the destiny quests.
You're not going to be able to create an MMO that actually drastically alters dependant on the decisions of one player.
So it won't be KOTOR.

a game called "A Mmo Set in the Old Republic Era of Star Wars" probably wouldn't have sold as well.
I love the kotor games as single player experiences and while I have no doubt that this will be good despite that it sucks because I was hoping for a game in the mass effect vein to tie up all the loose ends from the first two games.
a game called "A Mmo Set in the Old Republic Era of Star Wars" probably wouldn't have sold as well.
They could have called it "Vagrants of the Old Republic" or something. KotOR is definitely a single player game.
Though it should've been a co-op game.

Co-op wouldn't really work in his game, you have to stop the game to make move selections, god imagine the main over xbox live you would have some stupid 14 year old stopping the game every 5 minutes to make racist comments about the sith and how there dressed in all black or some shit.
If this wii Lightsaber game is anywhere close to as good as NMH, then I will be a happy man. Hopefully it'll have good production values.
I really hated No More Heroes' combat. I'd prefer something a little more... I don't know, I want my swings to possibly have a lot of power, not just mindlessly waggle my way through crowds of Sith

Yeah, I wasn't really talking about online co-op. Sorry, I'm a little stuck in the past, where people come over to your place to play games with you.

The Sith Lords restoration project Is basically concrete proof the game was pushed out. Why else would the rest of the game still be in the game data in such a complete form. Granted it had to be put together but there is way to much there to say well Obsidian fucked up and made a shitty game and Lucasarts isn't stupid enough to push out a guaranteed seller.
The problem is companies and analysts seem to think games only sell at certain points of the year. So in the downtime they put out shit and it doesn't sell and some how crappy games not selling is proof that big games can only sell at Christmas so you have to put them all out then.

I guess that would work a little better, but still with the game pausing feature I don't think I would enjoy it very much. Kinda lik how turned base games can't be played multiplayer. I swear Master of Orion and Heros of migh magic gams are stupid multiplayer

You kind of waggle up and down on bosses, high then low then high then low not side to side, but it still wasn't satisfactory at all. Maybe I should give it another shot? I got to the second boss and then just put it aside.

I'm curious about what they're going to do with Battlefront 3. Just do more movie battles? Or bring in battles from the Expanded Universe?

KotOR is based off of the d20 system. The d20 system is what is used for a game commonly referred to as D&D. That's short for Dungeons and Dragons: Satan's Game. The entire purpose of D&D is to get together with your friends in a room and play a turn based game. I hear that Neverwinter Nights, another game based off of D&D enjoys some success as a multiplayer game as well.
