I'm definitely getting FFTA2 (hopefully on the 27th at th elocal gamestop, FF and Deoxys on the same day!). Though frankly, I don;t know if i'll ever play FFT, as it's more assholeish fans have turned me off to the game.
Don't let assholish fans turn you off the game, it seriously is one of the best srpgs in existence. It's wonderful.

Agreed. It's really a great, great game. I had the benefit of two apartmentmates in College who loved the game more than anything, and from them I learned all kinda of great combos, patterns, builds, and moves.

Anyone notice how some things (mattresses and the copy machines in Highrise) are totally impenetrable? A steel wall, yeah that makes sense, but bullets should obliterate copy machines.

I don't know about you, but I always buy a bullet proof printer. Its a lot more expensive, but I think the advantages are apparent.

Can't wait to play both of these. As long as they keep adding content to FF4 I will keep on buying it. The only thing I am worried about is what the 3D environments are going to do to my memory of the dungeons. Plus, how are they going to do the "invisible" walls? It sucks that we can't cheat anymore by turning the contrast waaaaay up so we can see where they are :b

Other than that, I wish FF4 was coming out sooner so I would have something to keep me busy on my 14 hour flight to japan in a week.

That makes me sad. That fucking Monster Wall ALWAYS kicked my ass.

In other news: I was completely oblivious to the fact that FFTA was a different story from FFT for PS. For some reason I thought it was a remake of the original.

So now I have another game to buy and add to the backlog. Hooray!

FFIV, the best music on a 16-bit console. Ever. There is no arguing this.

No, FFVI did not have better music.
    Chrono Trigger takes second place.
Yes, Super Castlevania IV comes close, but...
It's still a distant fourth when you include Secret of Mana in the list.

The music when you enter the Giant of Babel is the greatest "Holy fuck, I am SO PUMPED FOR THIS" music in the history of FF.

I like FFTA2's art style, but I wish they'd stop slacking on the story. :|

    Maybe if it price drops.

I'd be nuts to wait on FFIV, though.

    And, obligatory:

    But, but, but.....

"Inside the Giant" is good, but my favorite track from FFIV is using the Final Fantasy theme over the (badly written) prologue, which I was happy they brought back in FFXII.

IV has some really great tracks, and both bet up on the merely good FF V soundtrack.

I've never played all the way through FFIV.

And, while I've played quite a few SRPGs; I've never played a Final Fantasy Tactics, or Tactics Advanced game.

Looking forward to both of these... however, I'm not looking forward to the inevitable $40 price tag...

Actually, every game but FFII, IIRC. :)

It appears after you get that bridge built in FFI, and usually in the end credits of the rest of the games except for IV and XII. (It could be in XI, but I've ever played that.)

I'm overly hesitant on FFTA2. I got burned badly with FFTA. I even bought a Game Boy Player in anticipation of that baby. I loved FFT so much, and thought it'd be more like it, but no... It still stings to this day. I only managed to play a few hours of it before throwing it away in disgust. Once in a while I try to play again, but I just can't get far at all.

FFIV is so bought, though. I'm not sure when I'll get to play it, as I'm sure the second it reaches my apartment my girlfriend will be all over that like a fat kid on a sammich.

Deep Labyrinth, and I think a few other DS games. I haven't heard his work from those, but Xenosaga's score felt lifeless.

Half of the environments have no music whatsoever, and they use the same battle music for everything.

The title track of Xenosaga II is more epic than anything from Xenosaga I.

Assassins were overpowered. Ninjas? They sucked.

The best combo for Humans was an Excalibur2/Excalibur dual-wielding Paladin with a full range of Blue Magic. There's really nothing it can't kill. Also, make sure the Paladin gets most of his levels as the Blue Mage so that his Holy Strike thing (I forget the real name) does 999 damage because of the awesome Blue Mage stat growth.

Yah, Blue Mage is awesomely versatile. I was just commenting that the Double Sword ability the ninja has is pretty much a prerequisite for any human non-mage. It does sound a little tame when assassins can kill anything from a distance though.

No, but the slims are reportedly very finicky. Both the ones I tried were Sony cards and both wouldn't let me save or the games would say the save was corrupted if you tried to load it. I returned both of them, so now I'm stuck.

Also, I noticed FFTA2's release date is actually the 24th.
