Midwest implies middle of the west, not east of the west. Realistically, nothing east of the mississippi should be considered midwest, but people seem to think that any state with farmland is the midwest now.
US Census bureau tends to think differently, Mr. I-know-everything-about-nothing.

So I'm not allowed to disagree with the U.S. Census bureau now?

I joke about the ark thing but seriously as we speak my fishing boat battery is on the charger. Wednesday's storm wrecked my patio and after the torrent we had earlier half of my back yard is flooded thanks to my cocksucking neighbor and his sump pump. If this shit keeps up I may have to start moving electronics out of here.
My sump pump is going crazy. It's emptying itself every 30 seconds. Problem is, it's like Noah's-fucking-Ark here and it hasn't stopped raining in hours. On top of that, I'm in my new house and the old owners thought it was smart to have the sump drain into the backyard. It just seeps into the ground and comes right back into my sump. Eventually that one poor marsh of a spot in my backyard will absorb all the water, but sweet christ my yard is going to be under inches of water if it doesn't stop fucking raining wall of text wall of text wall of text.
God. Stop fucking raining already. Garbage pickup is tomorrow and I'm not gonna walk out in this shit to put it at the curb and piss off my garbage men by letting old carpet absorb water.

Okay guys I was going to make a thread about this. See, I live in Columbus, Indiana. South-central Indiana. It is a smallish city (population of 50,000 or so) that is surrounded on all sides by rivers. It is not possible to get to the city without crossing a bridge. So you know about all of those wacky tornadoes. One of them (I guess it was not bad enough to show up on the news, or maybe it was just really, really strong winds) ripped through a poorer part of town earlier this week. One street had its trees completely blown down and into houses. Pretty devastating scene.
A few days ago Bad Storms start happening, and apparently not one, but two dams north of us broke. This, on top of the ongoing storms, caused roughly 50% of the city to be covered by several feet of water. This includes the hospital, which had to be completely evacuated. The basement was flooding, destroying everything down there. By the way, all of the important medical tests and stuff happened in the basement.
A bridge going to the hospital collapsed, but I don't know the details behind that.
My church was flooded, so the basement is basically a total loss.
As far as I know, only one person has died but several people are still missing. I have a friend who just moved out to an apartment/trailer thing a week or two ago and it was flooded to hell. Friends of the family got flooded out as well and they have to live with my grandparents for a while now. Getting into town would be a pain in the ass right now, and the factory I work at has no power and the roads all around it (and the ponds nearby) are all flooded. Comcast apparently had some big failures.. generators or something like that, so some people were without internet/tv, as well as power obviously in places. Phone service has been sketchy.
Fortunately for me I live on a hill several miles outside of town. But shit be ridiculous.
I come from Ft. McMurray, Alberta. Born and raised there. It is the place where all the oil sands plants are and the fastest growing city in the Western hemisphere.
It gets to -45* Celsius for weeks at a time and it's chock full of fucking Newfoundlanders and other assorted riffraff from Atlantic Canada who come here, make three times what they make in Buttfuck, Labrador and constantly bitch about missing home. Fuck you. Go back to your fucking rock in the Atlantic and rot.
Yesterday we had a tornado warning. It was weird, because the storm didn't really darken the sky that bad. Today's storm looked a shitload more dangerous than yesterdays. Once the warning expired I went to a barbecue and drove through a solid 12-18in of water on a few streets.
Nothing keeps me away from steak.
Then we got drunk and played football in the flooded backyard that had a good 8in of water.
Are you guys bitching about where you live in here?
I live on a remote Alaskan island. You might want to come visit, but lord knows that I'm only staying here for the work. I need to save enough money to buy a boat or an airplane so I can leave this god-forsaken rock in the middle of nowhere.

I have some family up in Valdez, maaaan do I not want to live there. I mean I lived on Elmendorf for 8 years and that was enough for me. I mean hell, Alaska is pretty and everything but there is nothing to do.
So a lake overflowed and broke its dam and then drained, carrying houses away with it. I thought the streets being closed from flooding was bad here, but holy shit thats terrible.

Possible 80+ mph straight-line winds across a huge swath of Iowa here, flash-floods, possible tornadoes, hail falling...

Get ready for TONS of rain
Did the sky just get real dark and lights flicker and crazy winds kick up and lots of rain start falling?
Yes and it's already over. That was nuts. The rain lasted less than 5 minutes.
We've already been having rain every day.

We've had that storm for like a fucking week straight. I'm tempted to go harvest wood for an ark.

jesus christ why won't these storms stop
i'm like just south of where the storm is
well actually the clouds are darkening the sky right now
Yeah I figured. Most everything in that front was spent on the White Sox rain delay.
The sky just became black and it just started pouring like a motherfucker.
Oh so you're seeing just now what passed through here an hour ago.

On a positive note, it's not in the Midwest.

I thought a tornado was going to touch down in the city.
flights were cancelled this morning and I don't have high hopes for tomorrow
it's punishment for someone on your flight blaming "middle america" for their favorite television show being cancelled

Still not as bad as Saskatchewan.
