So, I know a lot of people from Seattle frequent these boards. I'm spending a week there starting next Friday, and I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for good tourist spots to hit, or just things in general I should go see. Also, are there any venues I could check out that might have some good bands playing?
If it's a show ye be wantin' to see I highly suggest checking out the stranger and seattle weekly show calendars (thestranger.com seattleweekly.com). They also have good info on food, films, etc.
That said, it really depends on where you'll be staying and if you want to drive around the city. There's definitely a weeks worth of stuff to do in any given part of town.
As far as the standard touristy stuff in town, a lot of it is definitely worth while. Pike Place Market is always bustling and fun (lots of good eats) and the view from the Space Needle is worth it (at least once). I'd say the piers are "meh," but if you're down by Pike Place, might as well go for a stroll along the water front - be sure to check out the sculpture park at the north end (aka Olympic Sculpture Park aka Myrtle Edwards Park).
Lemme know if you want more specifics, as I'd be happy to provide more info.
