On the Barricade thing that was something a FAN suggested and the guy said was a cool idea...but he isn't even the person writing the sequel.
Also I thought someone said that, in the novelization, Prime fucked up Barricade right after taking down Bonecrusher. They didn't put it in the movie because they ran out of time/money.

Now, of course, they could turn Barricade into Prowl but it doesn't sound like that was the original intention.

There was a recent panel with writer Roberto Orci who co-wrote the movie script:
    http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showthread.php?t=141436

    A few details:
Brawl's last minute name change to Devastator is an intentional easter egg to set up for the sequel.
    Barricade's disappearance was intentional.
The laser that Ratchet zaps Bumblebee with is a regenerative thingimajig.
There will be a Director's cut of the DVD, which will include all of the scenes that were deleted from the final cut.
In the uncut version each Transformer gets at least 5 lines of dialogue.

and a theory from a fan that mister Orci doesn't deny, Barricade wasn't killed by Bumblebee during their bout, and he really wanted Sam's glasses, moreso than a normal Decepticon. Not to mention his mysterious disappearance after Prime's bout with Bonecrusher.

It seems like he had his own agenda.

It's as if he was on the Prowl for something.

That's right, Barricade could be Autobot Double Agent Prowl on a black ops mission.

Sorry if this has already been posted.

EDIT: Turns out that some of the Transformers lines weren't even recorded, so while there will be new dialogue in the Director's Cut, it won't be as much as I said.

Those details sound like nothing more than bull shit responses to the plot holes found in their half assed script. Michael Bay has already been quoted saying that the Brawl / Devastator thing was indeed an honest mistake.

    I figured Lennox was like,

"Let's see, the robots are coming to fuck us up and take the cube, Mr "Universal Harbinger of Doom" is gonna wake up in a few minutes and squish us, and you Sector 7 assholes haven't got any kind of fucking plan.

Now the kid, he says that there are good robots that are fighting the psycho robots we've already met, and that his car is one of them. Now, we can ignore him and all die, or we can listen to him. If he's wrong, well, we'll all die anyway, just a bit sooner. But if he's right, well, we might actually have a shot at living trough this."

I mean really, at that point what exactly did they have to lose by being wrong? They where already pretty fucked.

That's the viewpoint I took from the situation, Snake.

It's another thing I liked about the movie. Aside from the ridiculous stuff regarding the hacker, the characters acted like you would imagine, within a certain margin, real life people would in those kinds of situations. i.e. they weren't doing everything perfectly like you might do with full 20/20 hindsight, but they also weren't making groan-worthy, farcical judgemental errors like you see in so many 'invasion'/sci-fi movies.

Here's a fun bit of trivia: when Army Guy is threatening Sector 7 Asshole with his handgun (a 1911, as I recall), he presses the muzzle up against his chest. We can clearly see that the slide is being pushed back slightly. In this condition, the pistol is incapable of firing; in fact, if the trigger is pulled and the slide released, it will still not fire until the trigger is released and pulled again.

Which I think is high up in the running for most dangerous way to disarm a man with a handgun.

I went and saw this with my wife and a friend who hates anything he considers "mainstream". yeah, he can be annoying to hang out with.
My wife and I really enjoyed it and my friend could only muster a "It didn't completely suck" which means he loved it.
It's the first movie to come out in a few years that I've actually wanted to go see again in the theater.

The product placement thing didn't really bother me at all. I knew it was going to be there and I pretty much expect it in every movie now. I just don't really think it influences my buying decisions. I bought my GM made car years ago.

Also, no one mentioned the Furby semi-trailor that they use to deflect missle fire towards the end of the movie. That actually made me chuckle.

This might have been already mentioned (not sure what to search for), but I found the last scene disturbing.
Those kids are making out. On top of Bumblebee's hood. While the other autobots stand around and watch.

Was anyone else really creeped out? Maybe it's just my weird ideas of etiquette, but I wouldn't kiss a girl lying on top of a sentient being.

Yeah. It's just a standard data-transfer protocol, no reason why they can't use Bumblebee's hood for a more comfortable position to execute it. After all, that's just being polite.

Yes, the radio talking was pretty good. But having him talk would have been better. The radio doesn't really build Bumblebee's character, or his relationship with Sam. There is still that communication barrier between them.

I don't know if this one has been said, spoilered for plot points about Megatrons plans:
Optimus (I think) says something along the lines of Megatron wants the All Spark so he can convert all of Earths technology into his new army.

Yet it was revealed that all of Earths technology past Ninteen Dikkity came from reverse engineering Megatron, so there wouldn't have been any technology for Megatron to convert when he crashed landed in the arctic.

That one left me scratching my head. Unless he was referring to universal technology, and not just Earths but I'm sure Earth was mention specifically.

I'm pretty sure he didn't come to Earth to transform all our technology. Optimus probably just figured that would be Megatron's next move after defrosting, since that generally was his plan anyway and there was a lot of technology all around that he could abuse.

Exactly. Just because someone figures out how to make, say, a particle cannon from the one in my back yard, doesn't mean I wouldn't find an easy source of a small army's worth of particle cannons to be useful. The particle cannon in this case representing a random object, or just tech in general.

Personally, I'm glad it was a Mountain Dew machine rather than another type of soda. The fact that it was Mountain Dew makes it tongue-in-cheek. They should have put a Doritos machine next to it. (Xtreme!)

The product placement didn't bother me much. GM has a huge number of automakers and vehicles under its wing, so there were many different types of vehicles in the movie.

I love the film and just finished seeing it again for the 3rd time tonight.

    But one thing...
They had the original voice for Prime, the "One shall stand" quote from the animated film, and even hint on the character dynamics from the cartoon with Megatron dissing Starscream (Which half the audience clapped for)... i love it. But one damn thing.....If they went thru all this effort to please the fans then...

So I saw it for a second time.

One of my biggest beefs is the soundtrack.

No, not the licensed music. It was all used quite well, actually.

It's the music composed specifically for the film. It's so generic. There are no character themes, there's no cues to signal the arrival of people on-screen, there's no change in tone to match the action as it happens. It's all really basic stuff that does the bare minimum to get by.

They'd better get Zimmer to do the sequel.

The only time I really noticed the score was when the Autobots were faling to Earth. That was really cool.
I agree, I was really impressed with the use of the licensed music. I didn't even really like most of those songs before seeing the movie, and now I love them (except Linkin Park, which I appreciate but don't actually like).

How weird is it to be able to say that the new Smashing Pumpkins single is in the live action Transformers movie.
That is doing better in the box office than the Die Hard sequel.

Our theater has a DLP projector. The one thing you will notice is a complete lack of scratches, blips, cigarette burns, etc in the movie. Digital precludes that. The image quality is more noticeable in animated movies, since they never make the transition from one format to another.

    Technology =/= Electronics

Though, with how people and scriptwriters may get confused about that, this may not have been their intention...
