Hm. I just realized that I should have moved five squares to get my auto-concealment ability. Dammit!

Man, I can't believe I got a 2 for the attack roll. Something tells me the dice are going to hate me in this fight...

    I rolled a 3. We're in the same boat.

On the other hand, if our Warlord keeps rolling nat 20's, I think we'll be fine.

Ohh, I just thought of something combat-related. How do we want to handle Immediate Interrupts and Immediate Reactions? Potentially several people could take their actions between a trigger happening and when we read the thread.

So... anyone want to check my work so far? I'm getting better at this but I'd like it if someone could look and see if I screwed up.

How did you get +6 to the attack roll for your great axe? I see +4 from str and +1 from Fighter Weapon talent but can't find the other +1.

Also for your stats, if I'm reading your sheet right you bought 18str 14con 11dex 10int 10wis 8cha then added +2 to con? If instead you bought 16str 16con 11dex 10int 10wis 8cha and added the +2 to STR you would end up with the same end result but have an additional 3 points left over.

Well... I think that column for attacks means to hit right? So, since I have a proficiency with my weapon don't I get a bonus of +2? Also the fighter weapon talent gives +1 damage.

Also, for my stats, I didn't know I had the 2 bonus points, I'll mess around with it a bit.

Ah, I totally missed that each class gets free weapon proficiencies. /facepalm. Guess that means I need to choose a new feat since I selected proficiency with a shortbow as my level 1 feat.

That actually makes your attack bonus +7 then. +4STR, +2proficiency, +1 Fighter Weapon Training. Fighter Weapon Training is a class feature on page 76 that you get automatically. You select either one-handed or two-handed weapons and then get +1 to-hit with your choice.

Oh, and how do we want to handle Immediate Interrupts? Cause I'd kinda like to use Second Chance against that kobold's attack.

    Awesome, now I'll never miss.

Question, I can't move through an enemies square right?

Edit: Also, adjacent includes monsters diagonally as well?

Yeah, you can't. You gotta go around them.

    Or just kill them.

One more question! For cleave, if my attack on the first target is successful, the cleave automatically hits the 2nd?

Yep. The power says "Target: One Creature", so you're only making an attack roll on the initial target. If you hit, you auto-hit the second one. If you miss, you auto-miss the second one.

I think half the fun of D&D combat is just imagining the "WHIFF WHIFF WHIFF" as we all swing around at nothing.
or the fizzle fizzle, whatever you finger wagglers do :P
Also: the RPing is really good so far, I was grinning big time when I read the two Dragonshields' misses against Bjorn. Great stuff from everyone!

For things that make enemies reroll attacks or things like that, let me know ASAP and I'll do so. In general, it won't screw things up terribly much if I have to go back and change little bits like that.

Also, I think that Flatline said Bjorn would be the "ally" of choice to take the attack as a free action against the Dragonshield A if he moves; I don't know how you want to take care of that.
I guess flatline can also let us know, I was talking to him about it earlier today.

    IC thread updated.

Also, do me a HUGE favor. When you specify attacks, rather than use the coordinates for the enemy you're attacking, just use their letter (ie. Kobold Slinger A). It'll make things much easier for me.

Gwen is up, then the other 5 act in the order they post, then back to the kobolds.

    Have at thee!

Flatline, if you roll a natural 20(IE: the die comes up 20) on the attack roll you get a critical hit which lets you cause max damage without rolling. So you just did 3x8+4=28 damage and killed that kobold dead.

Also I think we need to go over opportunity attacks, people keep moving into and out of melee. D:

    k.. I can fix that.

As far as opportunity attacks, whats that? If I did something wrong..point it out fast so I can correct.

Opportunity attacks are moving OUT of an opponent's threatened space (generally one square around the enemy, more if it has reach, either due to size or due to a special weapon). You can move INTO threatened space with no problem, but if you move OUT of it, you provoke a free attack from that opponent.

You don't provoke an opportunity attack, however, if you shift, which is moving one square. Technically, you're ok, flatline, since you only moved one square (diagonal movement only costs 1 square). You'd just have to specify that your one square move was a shift.

Also, flatline, that was the SECOND critical hit you've made so far. You had one here also.

Quick and dirty explanation: Each creature 'threatens' the squares around it(Some threaten more than that, like giants and creatures with pikes, but none of the monsters in this encounter do). Whenever you move out of one of those squares, or use a 'ranged' or 'area' attack while in a threatened square, the creature gets to make an opportunity attack against you; which is a melee basic attack.

This includes moving from one threatened square to another but does not include teleporting, shifting*, or if you are pulled/pushed/slided. A creature can also perform one opportunity attack in each 'turn', so even if you provoke multiple opportunity attacks(say by running around a monster) they only get to attack you once.

*Shifting is a move action that lets you move 1 square without provoking opportunity attacks.

so, note a shift and I'm cool?

    I understand it.

Regarding a critical, I didn't know that...now I do. Want me to re-roll or something? to match all the other misses? -_-

Technically a shift wouldn't let you move to B13 since you "can't cross the corner of a wall or another obstable that fills the corner between the square you're in and the square you want to move to."

Creatures specifically don't fill their square, and can be passed in such ways, it is clarified on some page in the PHB.

There was also a large rock formation between him and his target square.

Wow, if not for flatline's bonus, I would have missed my last attack. Stupid randomness.

If we had kept missing, I would have been tempted to just cast sleep on everyone and hope it worked out for the best. Knowing my luck though, it probably would have only hit my party members.
