Yesterday, I only got 4 hours of sleep and was wired so I found some charged batteries and fired up TF2 and a good time was had by all.
While in the middle of dustbowl where blue is coming out of the coal mines. I am sniper, making my way to the front of the mines, and I see a soldier rocket jump out of the second level, fire off a crit rocket and nail me pretty good. He died on impact, so I went from running and planning my next move, to oh shit! flying soldier and shiny rocket, to looking at his corpse, in a matter of 2 seconds. Noine, you made me quite happy and I shall simplify this event into an avatar and button for PAX.
They're supposed to bounce back after a while, but mine still haven't. Ingame they're fresh and new, in Steam Community they're all bloated and PASMO-infected.
Worst of both worlds, because it gets in the way of my achievements while still giving me weird medic scores.
They get in the way of achievements while "still giving [you] weird medic scores"? What do you mean? I'm debating trying this myself.
My "Chief of Staff" achievement is no longer inches from one million, it's back in the low thousands, so I'm assuming that even though Steam Community kept my stats, achievements are drawn from your locally-stored .dmx file: hence why everything's still screwed up for me, just in a different way.
So no. I don't see why you'd want to do it yourself...
Sort of off-topic, but did any catch the slowly multiplying bottles of pee next to the sniper during the time lapse sequence? I thought that was a particularly well done bit.
The OP has all the info on the PA TF2 community Joril.
Lists me with 312 kills as a spy and only 10 deaths. As the worst spy in the world who questions even having 312 kills as a spy I'm pretty damn sure I have more deaths than kills as a spy.
edit.. although I formatted recently and have probably died about 10 times as a spy since then.. so maybe it only keeps track of the positive stuff in the long term and doesn't track things like deaths on a permanent basis.
Dude read the OP it has instructions for all of that stuff and the IPs for the PA TF2 servers.
Woop, my bad.
Thanks though
I'll be checking out the servers tomorrow, once I get back from work. Hope to seeing you all online! If the server is euro-ping friendly, that is.
The PA servers work fine here in Australia, so you should probably be alright.
Also, I warn everyone that next time I play on a PA server there will be quite a few friend requests sent out. You're all such cool people and my Steam friends list is barren!
You don't need a program to see those stats, they're all in a single convenient file in the TF2 folder. A bit oddly laid out though.
I'd like to be able to say mine are accurate, but I know there's no chance I only have 99 deaths as Pyro.
Does the Backburner seem a whole lot better than the normal flamethrower to anyone else? The guaranteed crits on an ambush seemed to easily balance against the deflection ability added to the flamethrower, but 50 extra health on top of it? It seems really odd that the weapon designed for ambushes gives bonus health.

Well, the addition was obviously based on testing. Trying to get behind people gets you hurt faster, probably.

I was thinking the same thing actually. It makes more sense to me to give the regular flamethrower 50 more health since it's more of a frontlines class now.

Depends how effective / versatile punting people with the alt-fire is.
Ok, so I'm playing again after a few months hiatus.
During that time I replaced my Geforce4 ti 4400 with a Geforce 6200.
I playing with the same settings (everything as low as it can go) yet things are looking quite a bit better than they used to, even with identical settings.
This is good right? wrong, the FPS I'm getting makes it completely unplayable. All I can think of that my new card supports directx 9.0. Is there some way I can force things to look even crappier and maybe salvage a decent framerate?
edit: it also is now suggest (via the *) that I put everything up quite a bit higher, which ain't happening. Why is my newish card performing way worse than my 5 year old vid card

nobody knows how balanced it it cuz nobody knows how the deflection ability really works. If it works well it's possible one of the most overpowered skills in the game

I'm assuming there's some kind of recharge time for the compressed air, otherwise a single pyro could keep an entire chokepoint clear of pipes and rockets using expert timing.

Yeah. I imagine that it's not something you can just spam.

I suppose the extra health is for surprising soldiers from behind.
There's some great how-to videos on YouTube by EvilDaedalus. The Pyro one was posted in the OP but here's the rest: *snip*
Every one of those are in the OP. I take all that time to clean it up and update it and NO ONE EVEN NOTICES.
ALSO
My computer. Pisses me off so bad. Because I swear to go, I try to buy one part for it to be installed in 3 days... and now, somehow, I have a WHOLE NEW COMPUTER THAT STILL ISN'T WORKING. It was piece after piece needed to be upgraded until its brand spanking new.
I'll post the specs later. And hopefully be playing tomorrow. And nothing else will go wrong, or else I'm going to be angry. And computer wouldn't like me when I'm angry.
Edit: meant to make a new post with this. deleted the old one instead.

I think it's for surprising groups. Chances are, if you've managed to get close enough to a soldier from behind and hit him with crits while running forward, you're not going to take all that much damage. It's when all his teammates turn around that you need that extra health.

Any tips would be much appreciated, so my PM is open for them.
Also, is there a PA Steam Community list out there somewhere?

You know I hear someone made a really awesome video tutorial on how to play the Heavy. Though that's just rumor.
Well, the addition was obviously based on testing. Trying to get behind people gets you hurt faster, probably.
That's...kind of the Pyro strategy right now. It hurts more when you're attacking head on. Since you're being shot at and all.
It's on top of the list! Geeze Engy

Sentry kills 0?? Well that's a mistake for sure.
