yeah, I knew about the What If? one, just felt like those issues never came out. I was going to through some of my back issues and found those first 2 issues. Never did finish the story
I can't remember what it was called, but I'm kind of searching around for a spider-man comic. It may be a what if, or it may just be a weird story, but anyway, it takes place when Peter was like, a little kid, I think maybe 11 or 12, and he's living with Aunt May and Uncle Ben, and they're having trouble with bills, I think, so he sells his Captain America Comics, which was kind of a mind fuck. Also, I remember it showed him inventing the web shooters, and the King Pin working as a massage therapist and killing some guy by snapping his neck to sieze power.
I am reading the Absolute Edition and just got to Chapter 3. Why the hell is Bruce evil and controlling robots from the Batcave? Was there something that led up to this? Or is this self-contained?
That's fine I just want something pirate related to read, comedy, serious it doesn't matter. In fact comedy would probably be better for all the ludicrous pirate talk.
Polly and the Pirates is pretty awesome. It has kind of a Disney/Bone feel to it, so I don't know if that kind of all-ages entertainment is a turn off, but I enjoyed it a lot.
there's also sea of red, which i haven't read. it's apparently pirates and zombies? or vampries? it's some kind of horror/pirate thing (taaaales of the black freiiiighter!)
but seriously, scurvy dogs. it's great. there's a huge amount of extras in the trade, too, including my all-time favorite extra, a "commentary track" in the back where the artist and writer go through and comment on every panel in the comic. it's just as hilarious as the comic itself.
edit- man i don't know why i haven't brought this series up before. i'm going to go dig out my trade again.
And an awesome one, at that! Too bad it's been getting hammered with delays for some unknown reason.
Quick question about Runaways here: if I'm interested in picking it up and enjoying it, must I get the hardcovers? I ask only because the little manga-sized trades can be had for like a dollar each off of Amazon.
Yeah, Runaways is a series I'll re-read all the time, and given that I'd prefer a more durable and display-worth format with scripts and other extras to read on top of the series itself.

not to mention that the bindings and covers for the paperbacks of runaways are awful
I'll also add that the art looks way nice in the big, glossy format. I think/bet the hardcovers collect all the covers too, which is a nice plus, since they are pretty awesome and you'll miss them in the digest trades.
Spinning off of this discussion, I'm trying to get Morrison's New X-Men, but alas, I am somewhat lacking in funds. This list on Amazon seems to cover all of the original paperback releases, and the low prices from the vendors are awfully tempting. A couple of questions about that: it looks like the third volume isn't by Morrison - do I need that? And does anyone know if these seven volumes cover Morrison's whole run? Thanks!

Yeah sems all seven cover the run. Also, Igor Kordrey is the artist, Morrison is still writing it. This book went through alot of different artist. Kordrey was there to take up alot of slack when the other artist couldn't get to cover everything.
Also, this book is available several different ways.
Omnibus--Collects the whole thing, expensive as hell.
Individual TPB--WHat you linked to
Hard Covers--3 that were available cover everything
New TPBs--They are the Hard Covers in TPB form. Only one volume is out of this version so far.

those first 7 paperbacks are all by Morisson and cover his complete run, Igor Kordey is one of the artists
So are there any negative consequences after Spidey's deal with the devil. i mean besides erasing his marriage and his his child since normally this deals with the devil tends to be quite twisted

Don't know if this question has been asked yet but what's the deal with the drastically different release dates for Marvel hardcovers and tpbs on Amazon and Marvel's official website? I plan on getting Jason Aarons tpb Wolverine run and Marvels website says August 13 and Amazon says September 10. Perhaps even more ridiculous is the 3rd Moon Knight hardcover which Marvel's website also says August 13 but Amazon says DECEMBER. Tell me, does anyone know which is more reliable? I would hope it would be Marvel's own website.

Amazon gets all their crap late. No one knows why (as far as I remember). One theory is so that Amazon doesn't totally cut the legs out from under the comics shops and B&N and the like.

Walkerdog on MTGO
TylerJ on League of Legends (it's free and fun!)
trades come out in the shops generally something in the area of two weeks before they're available on amazon. it's been this way for as long as i am aware, but i have no idea why that might be.
marvel's dates are generally pretty reliable about when it will be available in a store, though.

So, apart from the comic inside Watchmen have there actually ever been any decent pirate comics?
I mean Nikolai Dante counts kind of but I mean proper golden age of exploration style pirates walking mainbraces and splicing the plank and such.
Oh God you just reminded me how awesome Nikolai Dante is.
I need to go buy some trades right now.
Nikolai Dante wasn't really about pirates, though. I mean, there was a story involving pirates but that was it.
There was that weird pirate story in 2000AD though, whose name I can't remember at all. The first one was sorta-kinda a take off from Pirates of the Caribbean with the evil guy controlling a boat crewed by zombies and then the second story involved something to do with sailing a ship to the centre of the earth or something similar. What was it called? Red Seas or something?

I'm contemplating buying it, but I'm both a) poor like all get out - and b) reluctanct to buy singles of anything
I was just wondering whether it'd be worth my 12-15 bucks to get the set.
