Just a simple question about iphone. Will it work on the Verizon Wireless network. I'm trying to talk the wife out of one so maybe if I tell her (I don't lie) it doesn't work I don't have to buy her one.

    The iPhone can only work with GSM providers (ATT and T-mobile).

    Unless you mod your iPhone, in which case you can use it with any provider, though you do void your warranty in the process.

    Yes.

    In it's current form, the US iPhone will never work with Verizon.

    Correct. Verizon and Sprint use CDMA networks, which is a incompatible technology. Don't expect Apple to make one for them either for the next four years, as they've got a exclusivity agreement with ATT until 2012.

    Wait, so the guy who cracked his iPhone (the old one) could only use it with T-Mobile instead of AT&T? I thought he got it working with Verizon.
