Wireless Internet problem

I've got a Linksys WRT 300N and I'm having a lot of trouble with it.

I've had this thing working for days and weeks on end, but this problem keeps cropping up and this time I can't fix it:

I keep getting "Cannot associate with access point" errors even directly after having just reinstalled the software and hardware correctly on both ends from scratch (as a result of the problem).

I know it's not obstructed or blocked as it's worked before exactly as it is.

I've power cycled both the modem and router, and the wireless access point computer.

I'm really at my wits end here. I've used a very large, long red cord that runs right down the middle of my floor, through most of my house as a stop gap measure.

I am very very unimpressed with the wireless experience this far. It's fucking shitty and inconsistent.

This is a draft-N router. I want to clarify something first; you're using the Linksys software to connect, not the Windows utility?
