Also, somebody asked about me compiling all my affiliate links in one place earlier on in the thread, I have now got them all listed conveiniently on the side of my blog.
Ok UK types - I am reasonably knew to this fine country and I'd like some advice on who/where I can buy a good gaming laptop - budget 500-800. I'd rather buy a desktop but I don't think I'll be in this country for more than a year or two, so that is off the agenda, it has to be mobile.
www.ebuyer.com for your cheap computer bits, £10 off at the mo with google checkout as well.
Regarding Acer stuff, I have supplied tons of there kit to family and at work and its excellent for the money, only had 1 serious problem where a £1,500 laptop arrived with a dead network card on arrival, sent it back and the City Link van got knocked off (robbed) so return of a brand new lappy was a little slow, but hardly Acers fault.
Had one with a Wireless networking problem, but updated drivers sorted it.
The support is pretty good on the phone as well.
I would prefer a Toshiba or HP, but if its cheap you need Acer and Fuji are very good.
Seems like a good price but it only comes with a one year warrenty. Other manufacturers like BFG and eVGA will offer 10year/lifetime warrenties on their cards.
Lewie, not meaning to offend or anything, but alot of the deals you post here simply seem to be ones you've seen on HotUKdeals, but instead of leaving any credit to whoever found it there, you stick it on your blog and turn it into an affiliate link.
Just think credit is deserved where credit is due (especially if you want to use it to mooch some cash through an affiliate link).
In more fairness, I check hotukdeals too and not all the deals pop up. Also it's good to have just videogame related links in one blog, makes it much easier for me to check things and if someone is going to the effort of collating them all in one space then I've no objections to affiliate links.
Yep fair-do's, having them all in one place is helpfull if you don't like browsing through bargain sites. Just as someone has gone to the effort of collating them there, someone has gone to the effort of finding and spreading the word about them in the first place, just seems wrong to leave out credit to the original source.
I can see why you think that, but I collect stuff from a wide range of sources, plus filter out alot of the crap deals/bad games. I also have contributed quite a few deals to hotukdeals too.
There are tonnes of pricebots about (froogle, kelkoo, you know them all) and I'm not about to substitute them, they do a fine job. I will be posting what I think are quality deals. Good games/gaming related equipment that is a good deal at the asking price.
Okay, I'm going to order some games for the 360 I don't yet have, what with the exchange rate and all. Is there a reason you list those UK-based bargains as well as the US imports that should work on UK systems? Am I going to find these things won't work?
Anyway, probably getting Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect and Rise of a Ninja.
EDIT: Okay, getting confused now, should I expect "Asian" versions of games to work on UK hardware so long as they have English language support?
They usually do work. In my experience the ones that are listed as '?' but have 'English' as their language option do work. I have ordered MAss Effect from play-asia through Lewie's site and I'm hoping it works.
I only put PAL compatible games on my blog. Play-asia sell lots of region games, and it is on a game by game basis whether or not non PAL region games will work on a PAL 360.
More often than not, Play-Asia won't know if games are PAL compatible until release, so if you want to be 100% sure you have to wait til then. Although as Big Isy, most that have English Language options are PAL compatible.

I went into the Coventry store.. on the flyer it said: "Any Xbox360 game" not "Any game".... is any one able to confirm this is with any game? or any 360 game?
Looking for a cheap surround sound system. Around-about the 150 mark, potentially a bit more. Nothing fancy, just something to plug my 360 into. If anyone has any recommendations, I'd appreciate it.
£195, so above your requested budget, but seriously, this is not a "compromise" set-up, these speakers are bloody wicked, and utterly rule when connected to a 360 via optical. The sound is amazing, I just can't game without them now. I can't even begin to push them towards the louder volumes, they destroy all, and the clarity is sweetness. Guitar Hero is made of win plugged into these.
Lewie might be able to find them cheaper though. RRP was £270 originally.
The only downside is that the sub is quite big, initially my girl had reservations about moving it all into the front room. As soon as I put on her music through the 360 -
If one (me) were to be interested in purchasing a 360 for Christmas, what's my best bet at the moment? I'm knee-deep in various bundles.
The main thing is a TV. I have a decent sized TV now, but it's old, and doesn't do 60hz - so again, what's the best option here? Also the cheapest possible, I'm not buying a huge HD TV here, literally the next best thing up from my old TV, even if it's a small monitor.

Hmm damn, that is a nice monitor. I wonder what I can sell to afford one...
I'm operating in such a tight space, anything bigger or deeper than my old school tiny TV isn't feasible. Fuck, I don't even know where I'd put the 360, but...

Also wrong thread but right audience, what chocolate, sweets and such do you think would be good to send from the UK to an overseas Secret Santee? I don't really know what we have that is unique.

My sister has an Acer laptop, it runs beautifully. Not a single problem since it was bought.
My housemate has an Acer laptop, and it keeps having unexplainable problems with our wireless network.
But I suspect that my housemate is slightly dumber when it comes to filling her computer with crap.
edit: darn, I should google more often.

I currently have a Radeon X1300, would I have problems moving to this or is it pretty straightforward? (I've installed HDDs, RAm but never a gfx card)
