PS3 to Non-HDCP monitor question

Does anyone know where I can get a blu-ray case that holds 2 disks? This is driving me INSANE. My MGS4 bonus blu-ray came but the case was broken.

If no one knows where I can buy them online, does anyone know of the cheapest blu-ray with 2 disks in it?

Yes, I will resort to that if I have to :(
edit: I ended up finding some on eBay that should be fine. Cost me 5.40 each one though, but egh, it's worth it.

edit: Also, while I'm here. If I buy this:

Will I be able to hook up my ps3 to my 22" Non-HDCP compliant monitor? It seems to be the cheapest option.

As long as the moniter has a DVI input then yes you can use an HDMI to DVI cable. You can use the composite cable that comes with the PS3 to connect the audio to speaks or your sound cards line in. You''ll just need a y-adapter that goes to a 3.5mm input.

Thanks for the reply, but I'm almost positive that because it is a non-HDCP compliant monitor, I will only get a black screen if I use an HDMI to DVI cable.

That's why I think I need to go via VGA and component because it isn't a digital signal?

edit: Is there anyway I can tell if it is HDCP compliant? It doesn't say anything in the manual or on the back of the monitor though...A certain batch of these monitors were. They are Chimei 221D I believe.

I did some google searching. I can't find a site that lists it as having it. I DID find a forum where people say it doesn't: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/550669.html. Just ctrl-f "HDCP" in that forum and you'll see it eventually.

    thanks for the help :)

That's a forum I frequent. I beleive ones after a certain date are HDCP compliant. I might just buy a cable and check it out. Thanks

I'm not sure the HDCP "flag" has been turned on for anything yet, so even if your monitor is not HDCP compliant you should be able to view things just fine with a HDMI-to-DVI converter.

I'm thinking the same thing since people are talking about being able to play Blu-ray over the composite. I'm guessing this is just a PS3 thing though, like the 360 doing upscaling over VGA.

I know you can use it via component and its 1080i. Everywhere I have read said it wouldn't work though. I already have an hdmi cable, I'll just go and buy an adapter.

Who says it won't work? I don't own one but I see no reason it shouldn't work for games (no HDCP flag on these that I'm aware of) or Blu-Ray movies (no HDCP flags on these YET). I don't know about upscaled normal-res DVDs.

Most places after googling "ps3 on non-hdcp monitor"

Also, what's the easiest way to get sound? Ps3 has optical, but all I have are pc speakers. Maybe video via hdmi and plug composite cables into an adapter? Can I run hdmi for video and composite for audio?

Now, not only is HDCP protection activated for Blu-Ray and HD-DVDs, but we also found out this was also the case of the new Sony PlayStation 3, and the HD-DVD player of the Xbox 360. As soon as a digital signal is sent out of these peripherals, HDCP protection is activated and the signal is blocked if the display (or graphic cards or both) isn’t compatible with the norm.

Well bugger, you're right. Ignore my previous posts in this thread then. I remember recent posts stating that HDCP flags haven't been turned on for anything yet but that's apparently not the case.
