I'm surprised no one made a thread about this subject yet, especially seeing how many people were die-hard fans of music games that never came out of Japan such as Ouendan 1 and 2 on the DS and Rhythm Tengoku on the GBA. As I was checking Play-Asia to see what new games came out, I saw a Band Brothers ad. Wondering what was new about this franchise, I clicked and:
Daigasso! Band Brothers DXInfos from IGN
Band Brothers was a fantastic DS game where you used the buttons on the DS to play a song. You could choose to play any instrument, and it supported up to 8-player jamming with only one cart (though if everyone had a cart it skipped the long and boring loading section).
Then, as if it wasn't enough, the best news of all times hit me like a ton of bricks:
Rhythm Tengoku Gold
Platform: Nintendo DS
Publisher: Nintendo
Developer: Nintendo/TNX
Release: 7/31/2008
Price: 3,800 yen
(according to IGN)
The DS sequel to a GBA game based about Rhythm and made by the Wario Ware guys. This isn't a widely known game though it has a cult following. There's an arcade version of the GBA game in Japan (I sunk like 30 bucks worth of 100Y coins in these machines), and here's the original game's
website.
Thoughts? I pre-ordered them both the second I saw the pages.
Do we have more fans of these games here (especially Rhythm Tengoku)?

I had no idea about the arcade machine however!
Sorry.
Well, at least I brought in new news. Band Brothers DX.
And now you know about the arcade machine, which is simply awesome. It has multiplayer and tempo-up version of the first 4 stages.
