I remember seeing this, or at least an episode of it, a few weeks ago.

I remember a few parts where my jaw was pretty much on the floor at what some of these people could do.

you can actually link green arrow to this episode quite easily
ollie met howard hill, an early 20th century archer who was quite the trick shooter/marksman and was actually used in hollywood movies, such as the robin hood with errol flynn

byron ferguson, the archer in this episode, studied all he could about hill, and may have met him

tom knapp shot a 22 bullet into a curved pipe, and the bullet richocheted around in it and hit a target

it was a pretty cool show

I placed 4th in a tournament for bows. My goal is to eventually hunt moose with a bow and arrow. That'd be pretty awesome.

When I was hunting in Africa, we heard a story about a guy who shot a giraffe with an arrow on a hunting ranch. The bow was so powerful, the arrow went right through it, killing it instantly and then struck a second giraffe. It killed it also, which sucked for the poor guy because a giraffe is like $7,000.

    Ranch hunting is extremely unimpressive.

So you must not know how you hunt in Africa, then.

Because that's all you can do there because it's all privatively managed.

there is a difference between some 200,000 acre "ranch" in Africa and a 4 acre hunting ranch in the states. Most of the african ranchs are more like game preserves than shooting galleries, with the fences keeping poachers out, rather than keeping the game penned up in a few acres, at least from my limited knowledge of the subject.

This is exactly correct. The "ranch" we hunted on was about 150,000 acres. And yea, a giraffe isn't as exciting as shooting a warthog (that was awesome) or gimbuck but it'd still be an awesome trophy to have.

Bow hunting is for pussies. For a real rush, you just gotta walk out in the forest and club the shit out of a bear.

Actually, though, I've got an uncle who does a lot of bow hunting, and he's also pretty scary with an atlatl. He spends a lot of his time writing to New Mexico politicians trying to get dart hunting legalized so that he can go out and chuck some spears at our woodland friends.

a guy I knew once told me about how he was hunting deer

and as he was looking for tracks, he noticed some cougar tracks

    which he (stupidly) started following

eventually they led him in a circle

    back onto his own tracks

he's being hunted by a cougar

so he turns around and sees it crouching behind a log

    right then it charges

    he gets off two shots

and it crashes to the ground about four feet in front of him

How is hunting with a spear not legal? That seems like the most basic shit in the world. It would be like making a fire with a flint or getting mauled by a mountain lion illegal.
