Hey guys. Quint here with some absolutely horrible news. We had an unsubstantiated email come in about 20 minutes ago telling us that Stan Winston passed away last night. I couldn’t find any reference to it online at the AP wire, Variety, CNN or anywhere, so I figured it wasn’t true.
Then a second email came in, which made my heart drop into my stomach, a new person saying the same thing, without any backup. I asked for clarification and got it, so I got on the phone with a friend of mine who knows Winston and got the confirmation.

fuuuuck, this is seriously one I'm bummed about
the dude was one of my idols in high school, and is a big inspiration for me to pursue the dream I'm following now, going back to school to learn animation
In 20 years we probably won't even see his type of props and prosthetics anymore, and the Jim Henson Creature Shop will be out of business. Kinda sucks.
The man was a genius. I still watch Jurassic Park every time it's on TV, just so I can see the bit where the kids are in the kitchen, trying to escape the Raptors.

My god he did an amazing job with that movie.
Just the entire Mark I scene was awesome.
I even went through a few weekends ago and watched all the Jurassic Park behind-the-scenes things. He loved that T-Rex in the rain scene.
