Was fooling around today and ended up making a bunch of Zelda monsters.
The Octorok is hilarious in motion.

I have made some awesome creatures lately
Perhaps I will share them with you
This guy is hilarious. The game gave me the perfect body to create a big, stupid, flightless bird, and I did it. It is hilarious in motion, and the furtive eyes make it look depressed all the time
This guy...I don't even know. He's kind of cute in a horrifying way
This guy is my first attempt to create a bird in the creature creator. I think it turned out well enough, but I wish the wings would actually move, you know?
This guy was a collaboration between a friend and I. I really liked the way the two mouths turned out, and the grass camouflage adds a unique touch I think
Another collaboration. Bipeds are hard to do in this game and still make them look good and animate well. This guy ain't bad though
I honestly don't know. I guess I wanted to make a duck? The antlers just sort of appeared. I was pretty tired at the time
I spent my day off watching the first three Alien movies. Woo for being lazy! Went to the Sporepedia, found not one really good Xenomorph, and decided I should try and fix that. Turns out it's pretty damned hard.
I couldn't really decide on a particular version, so I went with a mix of all four "generations" of the ol' bug.
You know, that Spore trailer at the end of Wright's presentation really seems like the kind of thing that might actually get the "Yay God!" types interested as well.

That reminds me, a bit of an E32008 video featuring quite a bit of Tribal mode, along with a bit more details on the menus and evolution history than we've seen before:
I haven't been too expectant of a lot of depth or details in the strategy stages of Spore, but I wish they'd actually talk about them to the same degree as Space or Creature. Even freaking Cell gets scrutinized for four or five minutes every time a dev gets interviewed.
We get it; the first two stages are where you move around and eat things until you can use the editor, now how about explaining how you earn and equip tribal tools, what kinds you can get, and how tribal transitions into civilization? I wonder if they even notice they're neglecting it.

Yeah, I do really want to know more about the Tribal and Civilization stages of the game
I hope they have the same level of depth as the others

Has anyone posted this abomination yet?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdUR4HCs8Tc
It's better if you watch it on youtube's site, rather than embedded, the annotations just make it pure gold.
I keep reading this thread; I should contribute. I've mostly been doing interpretations of classic mythical creatures so far, although I do have one ill-fated attempt to re-create my cat. I've done my best to make creatures that look good in motion and don't clip too too much.
Hey, my friend showed me how to download other people's creatures from the spore website a while back, but I can't remember how exactly you do it. Can anyone remind me?
I really really hope the space mode is the sandbox mode I really want the game to be. Like, OK, you guys have high tech guns n stuff, but what if you were on a planet with these devouring death beasts, or, will this T-Rex survive on this planet with shallow seas everywhere and so forth. The editors look kinda fun, but I just really want to play with the ecosystem tools and see what crazy ecologies I can make. Looking at the stuff going on in the background of the tribe video fills me with hope that fun stuff will be possible. I also wish they would show some fighting, and cruel creatures. Here he is with these robots and he gets out the didgeredoos? Give them axes and go massacre those green losers. We've seen the happy tribe creatures lots of times, I want to see what options I have if I want my creatures to be brutal.

Well for Tribal stage, there's quite a bit of combat demonstrated in this preview:
As for Civilization and Space, just check out, like, just about any video that features off those stages. One of the first things they showed off with space was the ability to gather lifeforms and transplant them onto other worlds, as well as extensive terraforming tools for air and temperature. They also have mentioned during all of development that space will provide means to access all the previous editors and look back at those stages with more 'sandbox' control. I'm confident there'll be plenty of ways to putter around in space.
I'm at work so I haven't tried them out, but they seem to be some internal prototypes that the spore team used to get an idea on how certain parts of the game might work. Seems interesting.

They're certainly interesting from a design and programming standpoint, but I'm not sure how they'll play with people looking for fun minigames or sneak-peeks at parts of Spore proper.
ParticleMan, if you're into math or physics, is pretty goddamn hypnotic. It's a nifty little gravity/particle interaction simulator with enough tweakability to be a giant timesink. Biome I haven't played with, but Cell Culture is a pretty if confusing social-math sim that mainly seems to render a multicolor disco ball. City Maze is the most traditionally-game-y one of the bunch, but it's very shallow and a bit buggy.
Overall it's neat that Maxis are releasing these, but those looking for content will be disappointed.

So, has anyone else thoroughly enjoyed the prototypes they keep releasing on spore.com? The galaxy/terraforming/colony prototype is TONS of fun... you can even make friends (or foes) with aliens, and end up in a neverending loop of, you kill them, they attack one of your planets. I haven't quite managed to make friends with a race yet... i can get the bar all the way to the right, but not quite touching. Unless that's just a rating of how friendly they are... shrug, it's not very well documented, but carrying species from one planet to terraform another is tons of fun.
Also Spug is entertaining... every time you kill and eat another creature you get to 'level up' your creature and put one point in one of several categories... you can build a nest to regen health... and you have to eat to keep your energy up. (resting helps that too)
Avoid the red guys... they're fast, and they will gang up on you and beat the crap out of you.
I managed to have one guy last 2 days with 4 kills.

Okay, guys, listen up. You may think the the Galactic Edition's extras aren't worth an extra $30, right? Well, get your asses to Best Buy.com NOW and plop down your $59.99 for the Galactic Edition. That's right. For whatever reason, BestBuy is selling the Galactic Edition for only $10 more than the standard edition as opposed to Amazon's price of $79.99. Get on it, boys and girls.

Figgy, your squig is ridiculously good. Holy shit.
Olivaw, both of your goofy blue birds are hilarious.
I can't watch the Gamespy video, as it keeps cutting off like five seconds in for some reason. Anyone have a different link?

Also, I just realized that the save image uses the lighting from the current background when you save. Groovy.
