Spore Creature Creator

Ok, so I'm all set to get the Spore Creature Creator and have some creative fun designing wacky Seussian creatures and get a taste of what Spore will be like.

Was I wrong in assuming that a small program that releases before a game, showcasing, in parts, the gameplay and experience that the game will offer upon its release is a demo?

That is certainly matches what the Spore Creature Creator is... but for some reason I'm being asked to pay $10 when every other demo I've ever played has a notice at the start saying that it's promotional material and is not to be sold. Did EA suddenly decide to change the definition of 'demo'? (If so: what is it now?)

I feel somewhat insulted that they would charge for what is, in my opinion, nothing more than a demonstration of gameplay from a yet un-released game. I've never paid for a demo and sure-as-hell not starting now (and see no time where I ever will).

Life is not unlike the life that life is not unlike.

I don't know, perhaps segmenting the two wouldn't be a bad idea considering the other one is primarily for making creatures and this one is to discuss the implications of selling people a piece of the larger game, such as a demo.

I'm good with that, but I was under the impression that the cost of the creature creator was deducted from the full version as some sort of rebate?

This is from a whiles back though, so it may not be the case any longer.

While not on the same scale, GT Prologue is similiar to this right? As in its not really the full game, but essentially a demo at a slightly lower price?
