I received my call yesterday in the middle of relaxing after another day on the damn ship.

    *ring*
me- Private call? Who is this? Might be the ship...maybe just ignore it.
    *ring*
me- If this is the ship like hell I'm coming back to work.
    *answer*
    me- Hello?
    ???- Hi is this John?
    me- Yeeeeesss....
???- This is Gabe from Penney Arcade, you still planning on going to PAX this year?
    *omgomgomgomgomgomgomg*
    me- Sure am.
Gabe?!- Well I wanted to know if you'd like to participate in the Omegathon this year.
    *HOLYSH%#*
me- Dude....you just made my decade.

After he hung up, (no, I don't have an email yet either) I vaugly recall the hearing someone screaming like a little girl in the apt. Odd thing about that... there are no girls here. *shrug* Being in the Navy most of my boys are scattered about the countryside by now, so I'm training with a buddy of mine that hasn't left yet. Went to PAX last year alone and had a blast, can't wait to be there now obviously with a bud in tow.

    In short, **GLEE**!!

I there seems to be some ball dropping. I didn't see one hint that the omeganaut selection had began on the front page. It would be nice to know that the selection has started and to expect a call. *shrug* my 2 cents

Congrats everyone who was selected. What lucky bastard you are!

I really hope that if they did call they will call again. I don't know which number I gave them, but my home phone was down all day yesterday.

This is the first time my fear of flying will allow me to attend PAX, so I was hoping Fate would reward me by allowing me to be an omeganaut.

    Congrats on the ones picked.

I of course was hoping to get picked, but oh well. Leaves me time to check out other things that I would have missed.

I was at dinner when I got the call, almost didn't answer it because it showed up as "Restricted" and I figured it'd just be some dumb telemarketer or something. Boy am I glad I answered...I went last year for the first time and had a blast, but going this year as an Omeganaut should be totally awesome.

As for my info, I'm from Vermont, play a lot of Computer games but also get in a fair amount of console gaming as well. I'm definitely going to practice up for the other stuff though...

Hope the rest of you don't kick my ass in the first round...I'd like to make it to the Guitar Hero round if there's going to be one. If I lose there, so be it, but I think that would definitely be a blast and a crowd pleaser.

Sort of what I was thinking. I hung out a bunch with an Omeganaut last year, and she seemed to be very busy, having to disappear at random times to practice for the next round.

Yeah, I was hanging out with a bunch of Omeganauts at PAX'04, and they were quite a busy bunch, but it was fun to hang out and cheer at the rounds.

I would disagree there. 2 people here said that they almost didn't pick up the phone because of the caller ID. Ok, Now if PA would get some sort of official caller ID tag or just say "Omegathon calls will go out at this X time on X day"
Heck, why not do it live podcast style? The amusement alone from hearing people getting picked would bring great enteraintment (and yet.. sadness)

oh, and its not like gabe and tycho don't get a bizillion emails. 2million page hits a day likely leads into gobs of email each minute.

What were the first 3 digits of the number they called with?

I got a call at 10 in the morning yesterday from a private name that started with "241".

If that was them i'd be pissed, but I don't know if they'd started that early.

241 is the country code for Gabon - it's not a U.S. area code. So unless G&T are abroad, it's not them.
