Ah, yes. The infamous "Lady-killer" round.

Another question for Khoo, in addition to my earlier Guitar Hero query: How many people are going to drop each round? If it's like last year, where it's four each time, that means there'll be 4 people left for the Mario Kart round. Which means, more than likely, 1 on 1 rounds. That's intense.

Overall, I'd say it's a nice selection. I wonder if Quake II will be the PC or the 360 version.

My prediction for the final round:
Some kind of vs. puzzle game, most likely a Tetris variant.

    I figured, but I thought I'd ask.

I also wonder whether snaking will be banned in Mario Kart DS.

Even if it's not banned, whoever makes it that far shouldn't do it just based on public response. 'Cause winning with cheapness will turn the crowd against you, and crowd support in the final round is definitely nice. A big part of my epic near-comeback in the final round was from the crowd just going nuts every time I connected. Bolsters the spirit, it does.

Do you have to know how to play all the games? I mean, I've never played Diceland...

This isnt one of those things you can just wing, right?

Oh, and any guesses on what the GH challenge will be? BaTM? Left handed?

For Diceland, they explain it when you get there. But a bit of practice can never hurt.

No word yet on what songs/difficulties GH will be.

Just got a waiver to fill out. Liability and conditions and whatnot. One condition was that no cheating is allowed, and that is at the OmegaTechs' discretion what "cheating" is. Which I think answers the snaking question.

Go to GameStop, ask to demo it on their in store display, and just play the afternoon away until they kick you out... find a new store rinse and repeat.

Man, employees hate people who do that. Like, seriously. It's an incredibly dickish thing to do. Especially to ask, so they're going out of their way, and then to just be an ass about it.

Actually, GameStop employee's are told NOT to put games in systems for the purpose of people 'demo'ing' them.

Do you go to Best Buy and ask them to put in a DVD so you can watch half of it before you buy it?

    No, you don't. Don't ask.

If you have an original Xbox, you can play the original Geometry Wars in the arcade machine in your garage in Project Gotham Racing.

That's why you go to GameCrazy and ask them.

    That's one of their policies.

And, I'm sure if you tell them that you need to practice for the Omegathon, they'll let you play. Unless they don't know what it is or you don't have boobies.

Just shell out the $10 for PGR and practice on the old-school Geometry Wars...

The new one is slower, easier, and has a lot of flashy shit that is there to distract you.

If you can get REALLY good at the old one, the new one should be super easy for you.

The aforementioned Grid Wars will do in a pinch. Bizarre sent the creator a rather nice nastygram/cease and desist email and he took it off his site. This site still has a working link for the latest version.

With PAX officially being a week away, is there any word on some more specifics yet? Guitar Hero songs or difficulty, for instance?

Or even a "You'll find out when you get here" would be nice.

As one of the Omeganauts, I kind of just assumed that all the specifics would be coming when I get there. I'd be dissappointed to see that all the specifics were on the forums (which I rarely visit) and get schooled. But hey... I'm just happy to be involved. :)

As for people wanting to practice for Geometry Wars... find Robotron or Smash TV somewhere. If you can get down the individual joystick movement/shooting controls for games like that, that's incredibly helpful all by itself.

Ok... back to work, and dreaming of Guitar Hero...

It's most likely going to be 'Expert'. As well as one of the songs will be 'Bark At The Moon'. Being one of the hardest songs on expert. Plus since they'll be doing it front of everyone. And I can see two out comes.

    1. They rock out the house, as everyone sing along, and light up the place with their DS's and Cells waveing in the air.

    Or...

    2. They mess up every third note. So they start doing windmills and shit, as the crowd go 'Yeah!' and 'Awww!' in a mocking way. Like the game dose.( Or as I would say, "It's like sticking your dick in a blender")
