Things are not well in the city of Paradise.

After I gave up playing online due to the constant connection dropping, I tried to beat a few road rules and then went back to the garage. Selecting a car froze the game.

I powered down, powered back on... Same thing. And again. Choosing a car now freezes the game without fail. Choosing a bikes is the only thing that doesn't result in a freeze. The bikes are nice and all, but... this is not.

Delete both Cagney and the bikes and redownload, I guess.

Hmm. I downloaded the patch yesterday after work. Had a play, didn't really like it, turned off the console. Next time it's turned on a few hours later - Red Ring! Been smooth sailing for 2 years since I got it with not a red ring in sight. Much as i'm sure it's coincidence my subconcious blames the bikes for it.

Just to check, unplug your power supply from the brick and plug it back in again. I'm fairly sure my first red ring was because I'd half kicked it out.

So is anyone actually playing? I popped on last night and online (360) was a ghost town.. I gave up and went back to COD 4. Pretty disappointing since i've had some awesome online times just pissing around doing nothing. It was almost at the level of fun I used to have playing Midtown Madness online.

Anyone going to be playing this weekend? throw me a req Tarpo76

You do have to wait a while. Burnout allocates people to a room based on how old the room is and will allocate people to more populated rooms first, so if you've just started one then you'll be burning around on your own for a bit.

Just host a game and invite people from Burnout PA. That's what I do.

Ok I saw the bike update and got this for cheap at a local store. I'm sonictk1989 on PSN but I'm pretty new to Paradise though.

I have to say I love crashing cars so far though.

The first time I downloaded the patch on my 360 the game told me it was damaged and I had to download again which was odd. The bikes are great fun though, its a shame there's no boost but I'm really enjoying this stripped down experience, it really adds a new dimension rather than just being "Burnout With Bikes".

I can't believe an EA game has all this amazing free online support. EA really do seem to have turned over a new leaf.

The same thing happened to me. I just deleted the Bikes update, and re-downloaded and everything was OK.
I was just playing for a while, and will pick it up again in a few hours, but I can't find my headset.
I'm on Burnout PA, so send me an invite if you see me on.

Finally got a chance to try out the bikes. They're pretty sweet. It's really fun just tearing around on them. It is kind've disorienting when you crash into a wall and instantly respawn though.

I like the idea of night time driving, but I don't like how this removes the color filters paradise has during day time. I love the blue/orange screen filter when the sun is up.

so heres how i feel about the bike patch after some playtime

bikes: the fast one is really really fun to drive. especially weaving in and out of traffic downtown. the slow one is pointless in every way. the handbrake is sorely missed. doing wheelie donuts is more fun than it should be. first person view is awesome/nauseating.

night time: i like the idea of night driving, but its just not fun at all in practice. the speeds youre traveling at make it basically impossible to do anything at night. forget about taking shortcuts or dodging anything. you basically drive really fast into things over and over again. also the lighting for your headlights looks really bad when it hits other cars. sunrise and sunset look really great though. i'll probably never play at night once i get all the road rules and midnight rides done.

weather: looks really good, but i wish you could choose different weather effects and turn the weather on and off. i havent seen it actually rain yet either, but it might be in there i dunno. once there was a storm coming in and it looked beautiful. the entire sky was dark and ominous off to the west, while in the east it was still sunny and bright.

so its cool. especially because its free. those are just kind of my nits to pick you know.

You can tell that the headlights were a bit of a kludge but I don't have the same problem with night as you seem to. It's just darker. Shrug.

And yeah, I really haven't used any bike other than the Firehawk. I imagine I'll upgrade once I unlock the new one and then that'll be it.

101%, 7:01:40, 1:05:00 total road rule time. the bike you get for 100% is fast and awesome, but i wish you could use the chrome riders with it. also it still doesnt seem as fast as the fastest cars, which is kind of disappointing.

i wish they would add the total road rule time stat into the car part of the game.

I tried the bike pack out lat night and it was pretty samey. I mean, apart from the fact tht you're on two wheels and not four its still stuff going fast and inevitably crashing. Only now theres no spectacular slow-mo action during the crash. So yeah, I'm not a huge fan. Good but hardly great. I'll tell you what I am a fan of, the price! That makes it all awesome.

I was a little disappointed with the bikes pack. I mean I appreciate its new FREE content, but I was hoping for a little more. I would have paid the $5 for Paid DLC if it was a little more polished. A few more bikes, better crash animations, e-brake/front brake, stunt ability. There is alot they could have done with this.

    Bad news, PS3tards.

    http://kotaku.com/5054668/burnout-trophies-are-go-but-not-backwards
Burnout Paradise saves are locked to your profile. We had hoped to use this to retroactively award trophies, but we discovered during testing that this is not possible. You will therefore require a fresh game-save to receive trophies in Burnout Paradise. If you're familiar with PS3 trophies already, you'll recognise that this works in the same way as all other games that have added trophy support post-release.

Time to get those learner's permits.

    ps3tards. really?

thats bad news i guess, but i dont care about trophies at all so it doesnt really affect me one way or the other. it does beg the question of why they announced trophy backwards compatibility without actually having it working at the time though.

also, having looked at the trophies they all look pathetically easy to get. except for the one that would require me to buy a USB camera of some sort.

I just got my Burnout license.. I'll probably just stop playing for now (wipeooooooooooooout) and then restart when the trophy patch comes out. I think I'll end up having the PSEye by then for LittleBigPlanet anyway.. curse that game and its money draining abilities.

No, I'm not bashing the ps3. I have a 360 and I refer to people who play it as 360tards. it's a term of endearment.

I really should get back to playing this game some more. wish there wasn't so much other good stuff to play too.

I agree it's strange that they did announce it would be backwards compatible with the trophies but i dunno why not but he's just trying to get attention by being really special with using the word ps3tards.

Edit: Well It doesn't sound like an term of endearment but if it's how you refer to either console owners than sorry. just sounds strange.

FUUUUCK. Bastards with their false claims. The only reason I didn't hold off on Burnout Paradise before was because the Trophies would supposedly be retroactive. So now I have to start a new game next time I got my hands on it.

yea, since you cant have more than one save per profile. which is completely pointless now, with the nonretroactive trophies. so i guess you back up your real save to somewhere (assuming youve beaten the game and so forth and want to keep all that), delete it and start a new save, then once you get the platinum delete that save and reinstate your old one. so ridiculous.

also this will be available digitally on the PSN store today. didnt notice how much it costs though.

the hardest trophy to get is getting a Burnout Class license (and owning a USB camera, if you want to count that) and 100%ing the bike patch. shouldnt take too long to get all of them and get back to your real game, if you want to do that.

theres nothing on the list like the harder Paradise Awards.

edit: the 100% bike one doesnt count towards the platinum trophy even
