Of transformers and agony

Well, I figured since I already inquired about one 360 issue I may as well post about another. I have tried this question a few times on other boards, transformers boards specifically, thinking that since it was a terrible game I'd be more likely to actually find someone who played it longer than a few minutes in a place where people were more attached to the characters. That plan failed miserably.

The transformers game based on last year's movie wasn't great (to be nice). I ended up renting it not long after it's release only to hit what I thought was something caused by damage on the disc, some scratch or something that would cause the game to crash. So I ended up returning it and forgetting about the game as I had other things to do.

Not long ago I bought a copy since eb/stop was running a sale. Well the game continues to crash in the same exact location (on the decepticon side when you are barricade fighting bumblebee, right after you defeat him at the start of the cutscene).

Although I am having other issues with my 360 right now, I can with almost 100% certainty say it's either a corrupted save or just the game has a horrific glitch at that point for a few reasons*. The great and wise google has taught me that there were some "work-arounds" for this, and that other people were able play the level prior to this one, save, exit and magically no more glitch.

Well that didn't work out. Still just goes to a black screen with the music/sound effects in the background. So the game is still "playing", just no video or noticable response from the controls (such as stomping sound when I try to move). Any suggestions? If the save is toast, which it likely is, I realize that I am hosed and am going to be really annoyed.

As far as I can tell the DLC for the game only unlocks stuff and isn't a fix for any of these issues. Help?

*The reasons include that it was two different discs that it crashed with. There are reported issues of this happening. As well as no other game crapping out in the middle of playing (as opposed to my recent disc drive issue which occurs prior to the game loading).

This game is terrible and the people who made it should feel terrible. I played about 5 levels which took it's toll. How could they do this!

The PS2 game on the other game proved so awesome that you could even overlook the fact that it was Armada.

Plus awesome driving through the jungle, off the cliff and then gliding across the Amazon. Damn hard too.

The DS versions are actually ok.

But maybe I'm horribly biased being a huge Transformer fan.

The DS games were the best of any platform for the Transformers game.

They were also the only one that let you choose your alt-mode and transform anywhere, anytime. Coincidence? Naw.

You could transform at any time in the other ones, it just wasn't fun to play at all. There was like 2 combo strings thats were not satisfying in any way shape or form. It looked like shit and it was stupid!

You see, when it's not a disc problem, and it's not a hardware problem, and other people are having the same problem, well, that's what we call a software problem.

    Alternatively:

movie-licensed game rushed out the door with showstopper bugs. remains unfixed. stupid people screwed out of their money. more at 11.

Well I'm glad people overreact. I exaggerated as to my views about the game, especially since it is out of frustration that this happens. Yes the game is bad, but that doesn't mean it wasn't FUN. It's also good people answer the question. Since this game was as far as I can tell across the board seen as awful I hadn't seen much discussion about it amounting to anything. Hence the asking if anyone else had seen any word of a fix.

Nalouto, Kris_xK, and others who think they are witty*: Waiting for a game to drop in price isn't really a ridiculous move. Especially since I stated that it wasn't wonderful. It can still be fun just not $60 fun.

*Note: I'm not really angry (not that anyone cares) and after re-reading my OP I did push a little hard, but as mentioned I was more than a little annoyed with this happening. Just could we uh...I dunno, answer the original question?

No, you couldn't. You couldn't transform if you were falling, you couldn't transform if you were jumping, you couldn't transform if you were turning or boosting...

You're surprised that we mock you?

I'd say more, but quite frankly Daedalus summed it up quite nicely.

I once watched a 'Let's Play!' of this game. Superman 64 actually seems playable by comparison.

Oh I thought you meant you couldn't transform while you were in a mission or something, I didn't really pay attention to whether or not I could do it during certain actions as the game sucked so much

The Transformers Movie games for DS are like $20 and you all owe it to yourself to pick it up. Choose the version you prefer, but they aren't different enough to get both.

I rented and beat the TF game for Wii in 4 days. So glad I didn't waste $50 on that...even once. Let alone multiple times.

My sons have the autobot TF game for their DS's. They play it quite a bit. I think one of them has played through it twice completely. Now he's just going back looking for more alt forms to unlock. He gets alot of play out of it.

Yeah the DS game is a lot of fun. Like GTA but you don't need to steal cars because you are one.

I love using Starscream (or any flying mode) and turning on suicidal cars. You can hover in place and watch as cars pile up under you and explode in a vain effort to crash into you.
