I don't know if it will be considered hardcore or not, but I'm hoping to hear more about Wii Music. Last I heard of it, they were talking about a music composing mode, so I'm basically hoping for Mario Paint++.
Or something, anything involving Miis in some significant way
Seems like kind of a strange request to me
I mean, you can race as them in Mario Kart, or see them get fat and skinny in Wii Fit, or optionally use them in We Ski, or the myiad of channels that use them, not to mention countless other appearances as avatars in games and Wiiware.
How else can they be made significant? A game where people talk about you based on your body and face shape and skin color?
The following series have not yet made appearances on the Wii:
F-Zero (Hopefully made by Sonic Team again, as GX was electronic crack)
Star Fox
Pilotwings
Wave Race
Pikmin
Kid Icarus (please, Nintendo?)
Kirby
Animal Crossing
Custom Robo
Donkey Kong (Barrel Blast was crap and, as such, doesn't count)
Golden Sun
Earthbound (again with the wishing)
Punch-Out
1080 Snowboarding
Chibi-Robo
I'm sure there are a bunch of one-off titles as well, but that's really all I can think of.
When you really think on it, Nintendo has pulled out every single one of their big guns already, and a bunch of their medium-sized ones (Fire Emblem, WarioWare, etc.)
At first I thought they were just doing it so 3rd parties wouldn't have to compete later on in the console's lifecycle, but now that it's become clear that 3rd parties aren't even going to TRY I wonder what Nintendo is going to pull out of its hat.
I guess Earthbound was not created for the hardcore gamer audience... but we did seem to take it under wing pretty well. Bet they never expected THAT.
Then again, since it's STILL not on the VC, maybe they still don't realize just how wide the underground support of Earthbound is...?
They know exactly how big a following Earthbound has. However, they treat it the way they do for two reasons.
1. Snakes on a Plane syndrome. Yeah, sure, everyone's all "Please give us Earthbound, Nintendo, we'll buy it this time we swear!" but Nintendo isn't convinced.
2. Bait and switch. There's a theory going around that Nintendo has an entire division dedicated solely to fucking with people. Examples of this would include Earthbound getting ESRB rated for the VC, then Nintendo coming out later and saying it was a mistake. Things like that.
Animal Crossing will probably be there, but it's not a "core" game. Animal Crossing was probably Nintendo's first example of "casual" gaming as we know it.
Anything with "Wii" in the title also probably doesn't fit the definition of games for core gamers.
I would like to hear some information on (Project?) H.A.M.M.E.R, or did that get scrapped? I would also like a Nintendo made FPS perhaps by Retro Studios so we could get good graphics and good gameplay.
Something besides Pokemon that ties the Wii in with the DS for play.
I'd love to have a game that I could make some kind of progress with on the go with a DS, then play at home somehow on the Wii.
Maybe side missions or mundane character tasks/development on the DS, and main stages on the Wii.
Edit - I know it wouldn't happen, but could you imagine, say, KOTOR this way? Side arcs and weapon mods on the DS, but main stories and combat on the Wii. DS linking to trade parts with others.

So how do we convince them that it's worth it?
And if they're intentionally pulling bait and switch, I can see no business value to that. I mean... why? Why do that? That's fucked up. I mean, I just can't see that being possible. I mean... ouch. =(

H.A.M.M.E.R was canned.
Retro's next game will probably be at this though! Hadn't considered that.

Not quite the same, but... a 4 swords on wii would be glorious. And this time, no cables needed, and everyone has a DS. Everyone that counts, anyway.

To my knowledge Project HAMMER got scrapped. I knew a guy who was testing it and apparently it just was not shaping up the way they wanted. I'm not certain but I think Sadness was canned as well.
New IPs I'm still looking forward to:
Disaster: Day of Crisis (It's currently postponed indefinitely)
World of Goo
Haven't heard of any others.
Non-Nintendo IPs I want to hear more about:
Deadly Creatures
The Conduit
Nothing else currently announced even remotely jumps out at me. I mean, I look down this list of upcoming Wii titles and it seems like half of them are from 505 and Gamecock. Oh look... there's a sequel to Ninjabread Man coming out.
Wonderful.
Nintendo better pull something huge at E3. I want Reggie to come out on stage and say something like "We intentionally developed the Wii so that 3rd parties could, with a little effort, develop titles of astonishing quality with speed and a small budget. But they haven't done that. So fuck them. If they don't want to make great games for the Wii, then we will." Then a giant montage of upcoming titles like a new Kid Icarus game or a Captain N title in the vein of Kingdom Hearts.

I did not know you could race as Miis in Mario Kart, or use them in this We Ski thing
The only games you could use them in that I was aware of were Wii Sports and Wii Fit, and as save icons in a handful of other games
I've just always thought it would be pretty neat if we could use the avatars we created in more than a couple games. Maybe use your Miis as characters in the next Mario Baseball/Tennis/Golf game, or as characters in the next Mario RPG if they ever decide to make one, or maybe as characters in a more realistic looking game, by taking your Mii and extrapolating based on the choices to create a character based on it
Ever since I learned that there would be no Mii character in Smash Brothers Brawl, I've just thought that Nintendo forgot about them
Also it is a god damn shame that Project Hammer got scrapped, swinging your wiimote to hit dudes with a giant hammer is a concept that I could get behind
I'm not certain but I think Sadness was canned as well.
I'm not certain it ever really existed. Nibris still haven't finished a single game, ever raid over the river. All we've ever seen of sandess is bad character art, a single (awful) screenshot and a black and white live action video.
I'm hoping if we see a pilotwings we can use our mii. Would fit brilliantly.
Whatever it is, I want to feel like Nintendo took a risk. Any game with Mario/Zelda in the title is gonna sell. It's time to go out into uncharted waters.
And I'm not saying that making Wii Fit wasnt a risk for the big N.
I'd definitely like to play a first person shooter on the wii that isn't crap. I think Nintendo can pull that off.
Are you saying that Metroid Prime 3 is crap or haven't you played it?
Well, though the controls, exploration, and atmosphere were great, the the actual first person shooting combat was pretty piss-poor.
Are you kidding? I thought it was brilliant. I played that game twice through one after the other, despite a major backlog because I was having too much fun with the controls. The combat ruled. Especially the bosses.

The bosses can be interesting due to their puzzle elements, and the controls are nice, but I'm talking about the actual mechanics and dynamics of the combat itself. There's just not a whole lot of options, strategy, weapons, AI, body-part specific hit-detection (with the lame exception of big HIT ME HERE spots on bosses) or really anything at all people look for in FPS games specifically. I'm not saying MP3 is a bad game, I'm saying it's a bad if you're looking for an FPS.

Oh and a real for true Pokemon Wii game. Like diamond but with Wii stuff. No more lame ass battle stadium clones.
I never asked for this!
wiispace.com had an article up about it today, i though people forgot about it
i could only hope for that one.
The Wii will have served its purpose when this occurs.
Or a Star Fox that wasn't lame
Or something, anything involving Miis in some significant way
Or some kind of action game, maybe a first person shooter that doesn't have incredibly lame graphics
Any of these would be totally cool

A game that uses continuous motion controls (not the sensor bar) in an impressive and generally well done manner that isn't a party/mini-game game.
A game with a story and setting that genuinely really, really interests me. (Have yet to see one on the Wii!)
I'd love to have a game that I could make some kind of progress with on the go with a DS, then play at home somehow on the Wii.

Still, I'd like to play a Kid Icarus game for the Wii. I'm a sucker for horribly mangled mythology.
