Wii needs moar sequels!
Where's my Excite Truck 2? The one with the course designer, worthwhile multiplayer and balance-board compatibility for tricks?
yeah...I already had improvements in my mind for an excite truck2 while playing the original. First off, multiplayer grand prix and 4 player split screen. Online play grand prix as well, framerate fix up too for starters. Course designer would be very doable and welcome too.

Something just ocurred to me: Maybe they didn't want to pre-empt Nintendo Power's cover story next month (or this month, whatever, the thing with the sword). Anybody know when that comes out?
Whatever it is, it's not going to be anything special. Everyone likes to get their hopes up because then when it's no big deal they get to piss and moan about Nintendo.
So don't anticipate anything, because I think whether you like Nintendo games or not we've all had enough of the complaining.
I'm speculating on their motives, and asking a question. Nothing more.

The dog food comic is what originally got me interested in it. That sounded completely awesome to me, and it still does. I liked the mechanic a lot, I just wished they could have made it less linear.
But then, I try to turn every game into a lucasarts style adventure game.

Gametrailers have an interview with the horrible lady of the Nintendo conference up on their site: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/36819.html
It doesn't really talk about anything new, but I thought I'd post it anyway.
How does GTA appeal to the core gamers? Core /=/ old people that want to kill people.
I like how the first game she's ever played through is Professor Layton.
That came out this year.
I really love how we have somebody who loves games as much as we do telling us about them.

Oh I know, it sounded hostile to you and I didn't really mean it to be, but I meant what I said that it can't be anything very big.
Perrin might have been somewhat of a corporate tool but at least she seemed on the level. She spoke calmly, was reasonable, and wasn't hopped up on pep pills.
i loved both kingdom hearts and frankly it would translate really well to wii controls. i can see them being similar to the way you controlled mario in galaxy
I think that there’s probably one other element to it, and that’s that our view of how we use E3 has changed. For a very long time, E3 was an event where — and certainly Nintendo included — catered specifically to the core gamer. Now we look at more … an opportunity for us to introduce new concepts and new types of play that we intend to bring to the broader audience, particularly because of the media that gathers at E3 now.
So while attending an E3 event like this, they might be given the impression that Nintendo is no longer focusing on the games that appeal to the core gamer, in fact we’re still working on many of those titles, but it’s just not the type of event where we’ll be showcasing that anymore.
Why did they promise us those games then. I wouldn't have expected anything if Reggie hadn't been all "We are going to show off some big games for Core gamers at E3"
Do they really get a lot of mainstream media coverage at E3? I can't speak for the US but you are hardly likely to open up a newspaper over here and see an article about Wii Music.

Yeah, while I agree that they usually don't have anything worthwhile, and if they do have an exclusive, it's in famitsu/online a few weeks earlier, there are two things to remember: castlevania fighting game and megaman 9. Probably still shouldn't get your hopes up though

Wii Fit certainly did generate lots of buzz in mainstream press, but Nintendo did overestimate Wii Music's appeal. It didn't help either that they botched its presentation pretty badly.

Anybody interested in this? I think it looks like a Mario Party killer.
(May contain content inappropriate for children)
And they thought GTA was bad...
Um...what was inappropriate for children?
After watching the super cutesy beginning I was expecting there to be some kind of wang attack or something.
I have no idea what part of that was even remotely inappropriate for children. But it said so at the beginning of the video, so I'm going to assume something was.
Maybe there were boobies in the background somewhere.

I don't think Reggie ever said that?
Yep. It was actually Marc Franklin, PR director. And "around" e3.

There's gonna be a big game for the holiday that the gamers will want. All I can tell you is what we announce during E3 is gonna be fantastic. The gamer is gonna be excited and the expanded audience is gonna be excited."
Now, the expanded audience definitely is, but there wasn't much shown at their conference for the 'core gamer'.
I am not even looking down at Animal Crossing or whatever, but when he said that, it implied that something would be there that clearly wasn't. I'm not upset or anything, just disappointed, because Nintendo specifically told me to anticipate something that they did not deliver on. I know the games are coming, but I had expected to see them.

From the looks of the presentation it was supposed to be GTA:Chinatown.
Other than that (and the REMOTE possibility of Animal Crossing/WiiSpeak being their megaton) I can't see anything in this list of discussed topics that's worth looking at.

They have to put that in anything currently 'rating pending'. The lack of a rating means the ESRB can't guarantee there aren't any boobs until they've fully investigated the matter.
Conversely, while you may or may not have any qualms with what Nintendo had on hand, those of us who would like to see a new IP or the long rumored Kid Icarus are equally as welcome to not be happy with the presentation.
Wii Sports Resort and Animal Crossing are fun and all, but they don't take the place of F-Zero, StarTropics, Earthbound, or Nintendo's non-social games.
Marc Franklin, Nintendo PR Director: We will show games for core gamers around E3.
-- Nintendo Conference --
Reggie: We did show games for core gamers at E3!
Miyamoto: We don't show games for core gamers at E3.
someone needs to let Reggie know that 3rd party titles aren't 'big nintendo games for gamers'
He knows that. It's why he announced Animal Crossing and Wii Sports Resort.
Oh, I guess those aren't for gamers and nobody around here would enjoy them, how silly of me.
I'm sick of saying "core gamers" because it's a stupid term. let's assume that any time I say 'gamers' I mean 'core gamers' because that's what it actually meant until marketing gurus decided to redefine things after the wii was a wide-market success.
I've no doubt that AC and wii sports2 will be great games. I will likely buy them soon after launch. but they are as far from the "core" as possible and constantly bringing up GTA DS is not a valid response to questions about nintendo's own products and policies.

I've seen this at work at Safeco, actually. (Heck, I might be going to a game next week, I should remember to bring my DS) It's pretty cool. It's more than just order snacks, it actually shows TV footage (which is great, because of all the extra stats and better viewpoints). It also has things like multiplayer trivia games as well. Overall, it's admittedly pretty gimmicky, but still pretty cool and useful.
