That pretty much guarantees a redo of all four original races. I don't think Tyranids will be in, which is endlessly disappointing to me and kills a lot of my enthusiasm for the game. I don't think they would make a game without having a chaos faction, either Daemons or CSM, so that's Tyranids pretty screwed (5 races out of the box would be very ambitious of Relic).
I think they could do it. I'd really like IG if possible, would cover a different style of army.
We're just getting the original four races redone I would think. I would not bet on more than four races because that would be a lot of work and balancing. I doubt they would be suicidal enough not to include Chaos so Tyranids are probably 90% boned.
So who cares if it's the Eldar, that trailer looked awesome anyway. The animation looks pretty good, I just hope the framerate of the trailer isn't an indication of how the game itself will play on a CoH spec machine. It's always worrying when you see frame stuttering in trailers.
Chaos Space Marines are like Prinnies. You can't not have them, dood. They're everywhere.
But seriously, Jack, How could they not include a faction that suckles at the teats of no less than four dread gods? ...And uses assets already used by the Space Marines.
That last is a big one, apart from their relation to demon penguins.

Heeehehehe. Chaos Space Prinnies.
Aside from the fact that I had no idea what Prinnies are (The heck? Penguins?), just because the Chaos Space Marines look similar to the regular Space Marines doesn't mean it doesn't require a TONNE of effort to create the side. If there's any reduction in time spent, it's probably pretty minimal, it's not as if you can just copy and paste assets, and even modifying base assets would take a lot of time. That's leaving aside things like animation, other asset and concept creation, soundwork.
You can be cynical and say "olol, they do it cuz it's da EZ thing" but I really don't think that's the case here.
Well, the vast majority of people play SM and CSM, so they're pretty much in all WH40K games. SM needs a horde enemy, so orks usually take that. Eldar... I dunno why they always pick eldar, screw them.
Edit: I would argue it would take a good amount less time to put in CSM than a different army. Lots of similar vehicles, quite similar infantry models, quite similar stats. Easier to balance, anyways.
To be fair, the visual look of those Eldar was incredible. The wraith lord especially.
I guess it makes sense.
I dont see really if you have orks what tyranids bring to the table, both being swarm races. orks have more personality.
I just hope we see tyranids in some capacity.
Mainly because the best missions of DOW1 single player were the alamo type missions, where you just have a bunch of marines, maybe a tank and it's 'defend this place for 10 minutes' and wave after wave of enemies pour at you.
it highlights the visual style of the game as well as the brilliant shooting. in fact it was that exact scenario they used to demo DOW1 waaaay back when it was announced at an e3 many moons ago.
tyranids fill that void, of ludicrously large amounts of disposable troops. while orks are the same in many respects they have more personality, more variety that the average player can relate to.
I hope the last playable race is Imperial Guard, all of you wanting the other races in have to remember this is an open ended campaign and they can easily put the other major factions into the game in some aspect as you war across the planet.
Hey look, someone from Wales. Lemme ask you this, why does your language not have vowels?! Are you guys trying to keep people from understanding it?! Trying to speak Welsh is one of the hardest languages I have tried to learn. It. . . it keeps me awake at night. . . it mocks me.
So Eldar huh? I am a bit disappointed, but not surprised. No Tyranids though? That surprises me, especially after all that talk from Relic about how they wanted to do Tyranids, but the DoW engine just couldn't handle it. I thought for sure they would've had them in DoW 2. I suppose there is still the expansions, but I figured they would want to make up for the lack of em in DoW 1.

I should ask you why English has vowels, given that Welsh is much older than English.

I hope that Eldar voice is a placeholder. The voices in the first one were great.
EDIT: So the third race was the space fairies then? I guess that Goomba is all hot and bothered by now :P

Also, welcome to last page. :P
I did that purely for top of the page purposes.
It's always the Elves.
At least they die pretty!

It sucks, but time to move on.
Also, man, the new Wraithlord looks awesome. I hope they add new units for Eldar instead of just the old ones again.

I guess they will be non playable SP enemies then.
Cause if DOW2 launches without any hive infestation at all there will be hell to pay.
I have little doubt you shall stride mightily up to Relics HQ and rip their doors asunder with the power of the nerd rage within. o_O
Dont worry. When I was there last I left a detpack of c4 under one of the stairwells.
My finger is on the button at all times from now on.

It's the new TT model, which is substantially better than the previous model IMO.
No kidding; can't wait for the inevitable, silly SC2 comparisons; eldar = protoss, SM = humans, Orks = zerg (?)
I'm curious as so why; they've *got* to know people wanted 'nids.
Margaret Thatcher
Honestly, I want nids for an expansion. I want a sequal to DoW - which means we have to kick some more chaos ass.
