I had 220 kills at the end of my MGS3 run. I'd put them to sleep then cut their throat. Because I'm a dick like that.
Well then The Sorrow must have been extra fun for you.
Oh, I know he did for me.
The canyon level? I climbed to a high point and sniped the living hell out of everything, shooting down all of the choppers, killing everyone. I think I had 300-500 kills my first run. The Sorrow was hell. I kept thinking I was doing something wrong because I just couldn't get up the river...... Plus just like urahonky I'd always kill someone I knocked out because I didn't want them to wake up and follow me.
As a result, while playing this RPG I'm constantly thinking "man, I could get into some MGS4." Once I'm done with P4 I'm gonna' have to have a story run of MGS4, watching every single goddamn cutscene in the game.
I've been wanting to replay MGS4 too... except I'll probably skip the some of the briefings and I'll definitely skip some of Drebin's parts especially where he explains each Beauty's story. (Man they were pretty horrible bosses, well the fights were pretty fun but their back stories were stupid as hell.)
I just gotta make more of a dent on this backlog. Just started Halo 3, and haven't even opened Far Cry 2, Folklore or Saints Row 2, also Culdcept Saga should be in the mail (fucking goozex sending me all these games), and I'm worried that I should purchase RE 5 soonish rather than waiting so I can find plenty of coop partners, cause if I wait too long I might get stuck with the shitty AI partner, not to mention I'm still very much addicted to Killzone 2, wipeoutHD and Burnout Paradise.
I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.

Oh god, don't remind me.. I think I only listened to the first backstory all the way through. The others got skipped shortly into the story.

Is there any interest in MGO? I think I'd like to get into it, but I have NO idea what's going on here.
There is a large crowd there, I used to play but I have gotten sidetracked by Killzone 2 and my Lets Play.
Personally, I think the game is alot of fun, but it takes some getting used to for sure. Its sad that not many people were able to get into it because of the Konami ID travesty. That and the DLC is dividing the userbase sadly.

Uh yeah ok see what the fuck is this shit
how is this apparently level 1 douchebag sniping me at one shot with a fucking P90 in .2 seconds. How is this at all fair? And where the hell do I go to play with some people who are, oh, my skill? Christ.

I could never eat Octopus. I'll have to suck it up, they're supposed to taste like awesome.
The Hideo Kojima Keynote at GDC was a hilarious speech that covered the entire scope of the Metal Gear franchise and everything that designing the series entailed. With graphics that featured a conceptual Snake leaping, climbing and occasionally falling from stumbling blocks, it was truly entertaining. However, there was definitely something that stood out towards the end of the presentation. As Kojima was mentioning the distinction between Japanese designer driven games and Western technology driven games, he mentioned that he felt that a combination of the two methods should be used. He stated that this was the direction that he felt Metal Gear should go, and as the animation played out, a frame stopped with large letters stating: the next MGS. The startling thing was standing behind these words – a conceptual figure of Raiden stood behind this phrase with his back turned towards the screen. It was tiny, but it was distinctly the cyber ninja.
Could this mean that Raiden will definitively be the focus or the hero for the next Metal Gear Solid game? Plenty of speculation has raged online since Metal Gear Solid 4, primarily because so much was made about the end of Snake. While there obviously were no details given in the keynote, simply having Raiden present is a large tipoff to the direction of the new game. It also raises another question: could this potentially be the game that Kojima mentioned yesterday in his interview with us? Time will tell, and we'll bring whatever news is announced at E3 about Kojima's next project.
Interesting stuff. What do you guys think?
EDIT: Also wanted to mention that the interview they mention at the end is in reference to an interview they conducted with Kojima recently in which he said he was going to be unveiling a new game at E3.

It would be nice to see the series move forward with a new main character but I don't see why Raiden would be the guy. His character arc seemed pretty much resolved by the end of MGS4, and now that he has a family, why the fuck would he want to go out and sneak around killing people?

It could be about him going to Area 51 and rescuing Sunny, which would mean it would be set before MGS4. However, he wasn't a Cyborg at that point, so it seems unlikely.

The Sunny thing would make for the perfect game featuring him. And maybe we can step away from Metal Gear Solid as being the title. The Metal Gear series can extend beyond that.
Metal Gear Raiden sounds kinda lame though. I hope that if he is a feature character, something else is used for the name.

Raiden's story being resolved means shit. Snakes story was resolved how many times? He was at peace with himself how many times?
Always thrown back in there.

Also,
you get to participate in that fuckawesome fight with Vamp in Act 4 as opposed to glancing at it every now and then, between waves of mechas.
Honestly it'd be nice if Metal Gear just started completely over. Maybe it could be in the same "universe," but really just start completely fresh with new characters and everything. I wouldn't mind a spinoff of the first universe starring Raiden though, but I just kind of want some new Metal Gear.

I loved Act 2, especially the Octopus fight. Act 3 felt like missed potential. I wanted more sneaking around the streets of that beautifully rendered city. It felt like a post-modern version of cold war Berlin.
Act 4 looks promising, the flashbacks to MGS1 are haunting. And seeing Shadow Moses in full PS3 glory makes me wish for a full remake of MGS1.

Fatty you are supposed to hate act 3.
You are doing it wrong.
I didn't hate any section.

I didn't hate Act 3 but I didn't like it. It was too short and a gorgeous environment with all kinds of potential wasn't utilized very well. Act 2 was so much more fun.
Also, the boss fight in Act 3 was awful. It was very easy and it wasn't engaging, especially compared to the Octopus fight.
What else.. Drebin's stories suck. And I want Little Gray cosplay.
I snagged MGS Touch for the iPhone because I had iTunes gift cards lying around (okay, and because I'm a whore).
It really isn't bad. it's basically a rail shooter without the rails. You are positioned in the center of the screen behind some piece of cover (except in one or 2 levels) and you pop out from behind to shoot. While you are behind cover you regain health (making the game a bit on the easy side unless you're going for time).
The graphics are good, but they're just static pre-rendered sprites. Lame.
The way aiming and shooting takes place is you drag your finger anywhere on the screen to move the sights (it's a little circle) around and tap the screen to shoot. You can "pinch" the screen to bring up the sniper rifle, which is necessary for hitting enemies in the distance. Just "reverse pinch" to go back to the standard m4.
After that there are ga-ko and kerotan frogs to shoot. Ga-ko give you heath back, and kerotan either give you stealth camo (invincibility), or a rocket launcher if there are Gecko or a helicopter around.
The game is on the short and easy side, only covering the first three acts of MGS4, with the rest plus bonus content promised for a future patch. Once you beat the game once you unlock survival mode, which is playing the game start to finish without a break, which again is easy (and only takes about 12 -15 minutes) because of the regenerating health.
Drebin points are back, but they're only used to unlock wallpapers, and some of them are retarded expensive (like 250,000 points), while my decent run at survival mode only net me 12,000. I'm hoping for some unlockable weapons via DP, extra scenarios beyond the 2 acts promised, and maybe some more game modes (or even difficulty modes). Animal rankings are also back, but the best I've gotten are Scorpion and Lobster.
All said, I wouldn't buy this at 7.99, but I had 30 bucks in gift cards and noticed it was out so I totally bought it.
The weirdest departure from traditional MGS style is you HAVE to kill everything. The mission goal is to kill X amount of PMCs. At least the games gave you the option of being some sort of hippie espionage man.
So, I haven't played a Metal Gear game since Solid 2. I have no idea where the story is now, and how plausible this would be, but what about some awesome action game starring Gray Fox the Ninja from the original MGS?
Unless you hide behind the wall so you don't get shot, or get stealth camo from the kerotan. Geez, learn to read :P
? hiding behind the wall isn't stealth.
its not stealth if they know you are there anyway!
Or do you mean there are sections where you don't have to shoot people but can stay hidden?
You didn't really explain the gameplay very well. I figured lightshooter meant, you know, metal gear time crisis and "hide behind the wall" was the same as "cover".

You should try Metal Gear: Grey Fox. It follows his life as Frank Jaeger through the war-torn battlefields of Zanzibar Land as he kills innocent childrens' parents, only to end up adopting them, with the boss battle of that level being the unbeatable invincible Solid Snake, to his life as a cyborg ninja on Shadow Moses, with the boss of that level being the unbeatable Metal Gear Rex that crushes you beneath its feet.

I knew that part was based on how many people you killed :P And yeah it was a gauntlet of ghosts.
I think the joke is that she sucks at making eggs, so they taste really bad.
Just so I'm clear, I can use lethal force on bosses, so long as I tranq-kill the beauties, right?
