So, what would happen if it was Diablo3? "They" find some way to magically revive Diablo, or is Tyrael evil all along, or do you go after the remaining 2 Lesser Evils?
Not that I paaarticularly care about the plot, but you know, I'm curious.
Honestly, I never saw it as Diablo dying as in he's gone forever dying. You destroyed his soulstone, which kept him bound to Sanctuary, but there's nothing stating that he can't, or won't, pop up again in Hell. (Isn't that were bad things go when they die, anyway? )
I just saw the Europe WWI banner, since I am a retard who doesn't read threads. Totally has to be Diablo related. That is so hot.
I don't see how a picture for a Blizzard event that has all three of the "big bads" from all three of Blizzard's franchises means it's going to be Diablo related. I mean, you'd have a better argument that there's going to be a big crossover game where Arthas, Kerrigan and Diablo teamup or something.
Or it's just an image that's supposed to represent each of Blizzard's three IP's.
EDIT: Now, the Rune stuff is much more convincing, IMO. I won't be on board 100% (Mainly due to the giant ice block) until we get a better look at the purple thing.

Diablo 2 came out in June of 2000. Diablo 2's expansion set came out in July of 2001.
It has to be Diablo 3, its not like they could get any positive hype for WOTLK out of this, everyone already knows its coming and it's not coming out soon enough to make it possible they would announce a release date. Even if they did then noone would care, since it would be 6 months away, and about when everyone thought it would be.

It's obviously setting up their next MMO: Warcraft vs Diablo. Instead of Horde vs Alliance it's the Hordes of the Underworld vs the Alliance of Azeroth's 10 races.
The protoss insignia is above and slightly to the left of the Blizzard logo underneath the image. It also reminds me of a D2 rune though, but I'll be damned if I can remember which one.
edit: looked through the runes on the Arreat Summit and there's one that's kinda similar but it's definitely not a D2 rune.
The Protoss insignia doesn't actually mean anything. All it means is there's a rune from each main Blizzard franchise so far. Now, what happens on the next update is what's going to be interesting.
