Gameplay updates aside, it's how Diablo's story would continue on that would intrigue the ever loving balls out of me.
Though I never much cared for those Hell/Heaven skills/items rumors and crap that came up 2 whatever years ago. Seemed like too much of a departure from the framework that is set already.
One of the things that is so great about D2 is that it's pretty unforgiving.
Did you allocate a point to the wrong skill? You can fix that: Start over.
Did you die on hardcore? Too bad. Start over.
I can understand why they've done things differently with WoW (because it takes sooo long to level up), but WoW doesn't have that feeling where you really, really have to be careful and do things right like D2 had.
If they do D3, then I hope they keep it unforgiving.

I hope they have the OPTION of it being unforgiving. Skill points (especially in this day and age of "oops, made a mistake, DRASTIC SKILL CHANGES") should be re-spec'able to some degree, in my opinion. Not on the fly, necessarily, but you shouldn't have to spend 70-100 hours+ because you want to try a second skill tree out of 3+ for a class.
I hate the idea of spending weeks or months building up a character, and losing them not to a mistake, or someone better than I, or even a boss too tough, but because my ISP or their servers had a little cough.
Hardcore isn't for me, I recognize this, and I don't fault others who love it, but I'm warry of applauding things for being too challenging to absurd degrees.

Blizzard also acquired Diablo3.com from a fansite sometime in February? i think, and it used to link to the fansite, but now it doesn't connect to anything. So they may be getting ready to put up the Diablo 3 site.

Idk why they would announce something that has already been announced. If they did all this build up for WotLK 90% of the gaming public would just be like "meh, I quit wow years ago" and proceed to ignore Blizzard until SC2 came out.
