I have had pyros kill my lvl 3 sentries by themselves with the flamethrower.
It doesn't make that much sense to me, but meh. I can always build another one
THIS is something I found really really odd. As a pyro I have taken out level 3 sentries on dustbowl. All you have to do is catch them from behind or when they are shooting at your teammates and you have a chance to take it out. You'll probably die in the process (either by the sentry or a crowd of angry enemies) but you can take it out. Before the update this was impossible.

You could do this with virtually any class, but it takes special circumstances, and "special" engineers who are really dumb at placing their sentries.
I've batted L3 sentries to death and took no damage as a scout, but the sentry must be around open ground, not initially facing you and close enough that you can start circling around it while going at it with your bat. If you turn the corner and it's already facing you, the shots will start pushing you back and you're finished within a second after the rockets are out.
The way to easily prevent this of course is setting your sentry near some sort of wall so noone can kite around it. The downside to this is that it makes it a lot easier for demos to take it out, but any demo with half a brain and an uber can nuke out an entire sentry nest within seconds.
Reinstalled this and going to start trying to play on the regular again. Is it still a lot of pyro achievement farming right now, or has it slowed down?
Hay guys maybe the pyro isn't overpowered.
Maybe you just suck.
Scared about backburners? Walk in a constant spinning motion to always be aware of your surroundings.
Being chased a pyro? Run away while facing it.
I will agree that getting rid of the dropoff is stupid, but before the update the number 1 pyro complaint was that they didn't do enough damage. YOU ASKED FOR THIS.

The airblast and backburner fixed the pyro's problems, there was no need to remove the drop off.

False, I've had a lvl 3 sentry up next to a wall on a corner and have had backburner pyros come around the corner the sentry is facing and they simply strafe around it and take it down. At first I thought it was a fluke but this has been on multiple occasions. If anything you want a bit of space between where an enemy will provoke a sentry to avoid this. Placing a sentry right against a wall is blindsiding the sentry and slows its reaction time depending on the situation.

Playing Pyro, I feel like I do too much damage. And I don't have the Backburner yet. :P
It'll all balance back out once the rest of the achievements roll out. Be patient.
But theentire point of the achievement weapons were that they were alternatives, not superior.
If they were slated to be superior, then they should've been released in tandem with the achievement weapons for all other classes to balance them out. This is like Blizzard saying, "Hey guys, we're going to make warriors mind numbingly easy to get 2k with, so in the meanwhile you all just deal with it while we take forever buffing the other classes to have a comparable skill ceiling."
Which is in essence what they did, but they never came out and said it.
Pyro is redonk powerful right now. I've killed Heavies in one second of flame and two Axtinguisher hits bfeore they could even turn around to spray me.
@ Ed: I can't really play any other class. I'm not kidding when I say that and it's not modesty - I'm terrible at other classes.
@ Rami: that's a pretty cliquey assumption of you. And I still see plenty of familiar names.
Just drop in every weekend or so. Playing every day or so will burn almost anyone out eventually. Besides, you can be terrible at a class and still enjoy the game. Just look at me, I barely break 1:1 K/D ratio and I still love Tuftoo.
Different mindsets. I can't have fun if I'm obviously playing poorly (in my eyes). Just can't do that, it's not how I work. Dicking around is different, of course.
But hey, smash bros in two days! I had totally forgotten! =D

impossible? I think not
Taking out a level 3 sentry is relatively simple as a pyro, even before the update
The moment I found myself leading a server as a Pyro, I knew the dropoff was crazy awesome.
But the other thing that was awesome? Burning down three Pyros in a row and topping it off with a Medic and a Sniper. It's so much easier to play a Pyro when everyone else is a Pyro too.
Fewer rockets, grenades and hails of lead mean they don't get mowed down at random during their suicidal charges. The difference in effectiveness isn't just the cool weapons, it's the team balance.
Of course, someone else has said this already. Twelve, thirty times. At length- a month ago, I'm sure. Maybe over some coffee. Probably had a little biscuit, and just, you know, waved it in the air, talking. I bet the waitress was cute.

man
all I wanted was for them to fix the bloody hit detection
pyro did plenty of damage before
Pyro before the update required a lot of skill in dodging and that was about it
now you don't really need to dodge because the person dies so fucking quickly

I think you misunderstood my post. I said the reason why you can take out sentries like that is because you place them RIGHT UP TO THE CORNER, meaning the gun doesn't have the distance and time to react t othe threat. What I said was place it next to a wall, not against a corner against a WALL, so there is nowhere to strafe around.

You can get a level 2/3 sentry up in some very...surprising places very quickly with 3 engineers.
You could do this with virtually any class, but it takes special circumstances, and "special" engineers who are really dumb at placing their sentries.

Yes, but it must be my sentry, for I need the points!!!111

As far as I am aware there is no class that is faster than a pyro while running backwards. Maybe a scout but that would be the only one.

Yeah I said it.
Yeah, I got booted from that game too with the same message.
Yea, if a scout is within flame range they are already dead.

Without fastswitch weapons I had some trouble doing this but with fastswitch I can now almost always get the stab sap combo! THANKS PEE AAAAYE!

This is undiluted brilliance.
you move to one side, then move quickly to the other
it's still trying to follow you and doesn't quite have the reaction time against pyros
the more you know
you want to put a sentry where it has open area on all sides
gives the engineer freedom of movement, and pyros require a wall to edge around to get a sentry
I'd be cool with a four hundred odd health heavy. Gotta survive those flames somehow, right?
And a primary weapon that fires slower but can be used as a club with a greater than normal range.
...Oh yes.
And
a 200 health boost
And they need to be faster and get a quadruple jump.

Didn't Robin Walker confirm the next "Meet the.." video would be the Pyro?
SPOILT.
might want to fix the spelling errors before you release that to the general public
