Also women's MMA is still pretty much a circus act. The top fighters can't even make weight in the biggest promotion that carries them. And it has the same problem most women's sport has to deal with - women can't compete at the same level in the top tiers of MMA and so you're generally watching an inferior brand of fighting. I'd much rather add the male Strikeforce/Bellator fighters, which would be much simpler to do, than add a female division to the game (which would be more difficult to model).
Puffy/red... we need to play so you can help me understand this game. I am good with blocking and striking standing up but once I get on the mat either on top or bottom I get screwed.
I feel like its way too difficult to get up your skills (referring to the 8 categories, not the 3 main attributes). I always whomp my sparring partner, getting 60-70 skill points per go. Even so its taking forever. My dude is 17-0 and still only has 70 as his highest skill rating (kicks, offense).
You think it's difficult to get your skills up?
The most I've ever gotten out of a sparring match is 44 points. What are you doing that gets you so many points?
Did you get the No Touch achievement already?
What's your stamina when you spar? If it's at 100 you get a 1.2x multiplier. Having non-crap sparring partners is important too, but not really in your control.
Also if you want to min/max you should max out your training before you ever spar, that way you can demolish the low-level sparring partners since you're so much stronger and faster than them, giving you extra points.

If you see me on, give me a message and I'll train you a bit. If I don't respond it's because my roommate is playing

You don't need the perfect 100 stamina for the bonus, I've gotten the 1.2x multiplier when I was in the 90s.
Yeah, not having a replay mode is just lazy. Every sports game has one, it cant be that hard at all to implement.
Really, every game of almost any genre should have a replay mode. Bonus points if it's half as awesome as the one Bungie released with Halo 3 two goddamn years ago.

Yeah, apparently I was playing on experienced. I dropped it, and now I'm 19 and 0.
Fun times! And yeah, I'm playing beginner, but just for the achievement. It's really not fun now that it's all first round KO's.

Yea, that is what I did to run through those classic fights. I just want the achievements. I unlocked the videos and I enjoyed them. I don't care about recreating UFC fights. Maybe if they let me win it however I want to, but that wouldn't be recreating it now would it? Heh.
edit: Ok. Let us talk league. I haven't done anything, but I need to know how we should limit the CAF (stat wise). Can you readjust the stats once you retire in career mode? I don't think it is good for the league if some people have like a 77 overall and others have guys in the 90s. We need to figure out a way to make this fair for everyone. We could use real UFC guys (and draft by people's record in the game...worst to first), but I think that takes away from what we want here.

I haven't tried making a non-career CAF, but wasn't it said that if you did that, you'd be limited to 75% of what you could achieve in career? That would sound like an even number so everyone has a level playing field.
I try to fight in every weight class. Ideally I'd say best of 5, one in each weight class but maybe that's too ambitious? Alternating who chooses a fighter first?
Every time I go for a medal I remember I'm not good enough at this game to fool around. I tried for the no blows and first submission attempt and it didn't go well

No blows/ submission achievement? You can get that in exhibition and set the computer to beginner. Just wrestle around with them for awhile and spin the right stick like crazy when you start your submission.

I mean the Gold Medal in ranked matches.
Ugh. Screw that stuff. I am going to wait until the patch comes so my hard work isn't put to waste on a quitter.
edit: I am now working on the roster run-through & watch the card girl 15 time achievements.
Played one match with all the Heaveyweights in exhibition. One class down, four to go. I got the ring girl watching achievement. I just skipped the intros until the ring girl part, let that play out, then kept advancing to the match.

Anyone know how to damage arms in this game? Only when the person is blocking?
Correct.
Getting 30% damage on head body and lead leg? Easy
Arms and back leg? Not so much
I believe it was 30% damage over all the limbs/head/body. I thought. I thought I read that somewhere. Basically, pound the piss out of the legs, body and head and the arms won't be necessary.

Do you need to use the hidden characters?
By hidden do you mean DLC?
There are a couple hidden characters. And no, you only need to use the 80 original fighters.

I got one of the Tapout guys by winning three career matches in a row with a submission. From GameFaqs, the other two are unlocked by being sponsored by Tapout in career mode and a button combination on the main menu.

Crazy question: does damaging a particular body part make it easier to submit someone if the submission attempt is on that limb? Like say you damage a guy's arm, then went for an armbar - would that submission be easier to pull off than the same thing without the injured arm?

When you're immobile on the ground, subject to a TKO, does the shine method or buttonmashing or anything make you recover any faster? Or is it just a matter of hoping the opponent's too slow to capitalize?

I think you can just jam on the buttons or rortate the right analog. I played a guy last night that I stood over, pounded for a second or two, then he was just on his back regularly and I backed away. The ref stopped the fight after the guy escaped his rocked state though, so fuck the ref.
Well I've been playing this for two days now and yeah, it's pretty awesome. I have fought 2 matches online and both times the lag was absolutely horrible, nearly unplayable at times. Is this the norm for UFC online or should I be expecting smoother matches in the future?

I've only had lag in maybe 3-4 matches (they were playable) out of almost 70 matches. It is usually fine for me.

If they put the Mixed in Martial Arts, I'm making an Andy Kaufman CAF.
Yeah.. this is a UFC game, not an MMA game. The only way you'll get women is if the UFC add a women's division.

I agree with this. I don't know if I'll have to time make a guy AND play a league. I'd rather do a UFC Only League.
So, I want everyone to chime in before I make a decision.
1. UFC or CAF?
2. Which weight class do you prefer?
