At least I have a job! ....I'm just laid off from it right now. Surviving on freelance work.
My Pokemons, they comfort me.
Haze actually I haven't seen as much lately. I see more people using psuedo-hazing with things like Roar and Whirlwind (usually in combo with Stealth Rocks or Spikes, to lay on damage to an enemy team). Haze has the advantage though of not being negated by Ingrain, which almost any baton-pass team these days carries.
Also, it was mentioned this mini-tourney thing had no EV training. How on earth are they checking on that?

From what I understand it's probably just a tournament of friends working off an honor code. Each trainer's team of 3 is randomly assigned, and with only one tm allowed per guy and no fancy breeding, I think you if have the opportunity to have a hazer or pseudo-hazer, you should take it.
Within a month I shall be in possession of a good sum of money. I plan on spending said money on a Wii.
is Pokemon Battle Revolution worth getting when I buy the Wii?
y/n
If you really like battling (like, "I LOVE THE BATTLE TOWER!" kind of like battling) then I'd say get it used.
There really isn't enough meat to it; when essentially you'd be paying $60 new for Emerald's Battle Frontier, as well as 3D sprites for your pokeymans.
From the sounds of it, though, Pokemon Ranch is very enjoyable - which makes me sad, since Mrs Snack Road's parents are borrowing my Wii.
Pokemon Ranch is highly enjoyable, for a ten dollar download that's nothing more than a fancy box for your extra Pokemon. Its actually fun to watch the little Pokemon floating about, interacting with each other and your Miis. And they even seem to gain a bit of personality. Like my Darkrai, which has acquired a Murkrow sidekick that weirdly seems happy every time Darkrai blasts it (which is frequent).
If you must get a Pokemon game to play on your Wii, besides Ranch I'd recommend getting a hold of a copy of XD : Gale of Darkness instead. At least that has more of an actual 'game' component to it.
Yeah, ironically, I had some friends over and I showed them Pokémon Ranch. We were watching them interact and laughed a lot at the way some of them moved and the way some danced.
Was looking at the Bulbapedia page for Pokemon ranch, says once you fill it with 250 and 999 pokemon, you get a Phione and a Mew. So I could just fill this thing with 999 Bidoofs and win myself a mew?
I love opening up the various toy boxes, and watching the Pokemon interact with the toys. Especially the Pitfall and Cannon toys. Most hilarious was watching Wailord unhappily conclude it was far too large for either of those toys.
And yeah, at 250 you can trade a Leafeon for a Phione and at 999 you can trade an egg for a Mew, which are two other reasons to get the game. You can also trade for a couple of other Pokemon Hayley has, including a Pikachu that knows Grass Knot. But those are random and depend on you agreeing to trade the Pokemon on your 'wanted' list.
I think so, at least it sounds like some of the folks on Smogon are doing it to try to get a 'perfect' Hypnosis Mew. I'd imagine it would involve having to set the clock ahead a lot on your Wii (since you can only put so many in each day), hacking in that many Pokemon on your Diamond/Pearl cart (there's not enough boxes to store that many Pokemon!), and lots of hitting the 'A' button. Far too much hassle, I'd say.
True. But they want a 'legit' 'perfect' version, not a hacked in one. And heck, maybe they are actually hatching that many Magikarp eggs or whatever. I just seriously doubt the guy that claimed to be able to get Mew within two hours was actually doing all of that without the help of some kind of hacking device.
Ok, so I got me a Deoxys this weekend and it has gotten me excited to collect other legendaries. Am I safe to say that I do not want to post up a request on the GTS (assuming everything is hacked)?
I haven't used it in a while, but every time I've attempted to make a trade on the GTS by offering up my pokemon and asking for a reasonable trade, I got a prompt response. I think the longest I waited was like a day.
But if you go searching for Pokes yourself, you will find little else other than requests for level 100 legendaries. I just want to know how they got them in their Pokedex in the first place to ask for them.
Haze actually I haven't seen as much lately. I see more people using psuedo-hazing with things like Roar and Whirlwind (usually in combo with Stealth Rocks or Spikes, to lay on damage to an enemy team). So Haze is probably worth the Heart Scale. Alright, cool. I'm going to have to play the Underground for a few hours and hope I find some more. I've just got the one.
And yeah, just friends. So we can prettymuch trust each other. Also, only two (maybe three) of the six have any idea how you'd train EVs. And none of us have the items to make it plausible.
The thing I'm most worried about right now is that Altaria. It's our first and only Dragon type. And none of the ice guys are on my team. And Heracross is 4x weak to Flying. So...now I'm back to considering giving Koffing Thunderbolt...
I don't use the trade thread anymore since it's dead or there's little to no responses from posting (I have to justify myself every time I do this). It's really not that big of a problem to post it here right (especially since wants can be so spontaneous and temperamental)?
I'm trying to clear room in my boxes.
I have an extra Deoxys for trade now as well as a shiny Banette (I have two, but one of them is for RockinX if he still wants it). I also have TMs that I mostly don't use since I don't train too many Pokemon. I also have EVERY Pokemon I can get without hacking so I can give you anything unless it's legendary in which I'll give trade-backs.
In trade, I demand rare candies!
-EDIT-
Reynolds, I'll give you heart scales for free, but if you have rare candy I wouldn't mind trading some for some in any ratio.
I have a few Rare Candies. Some of them were transferred over from another game before I restarted it (I think). I'll see what I've got before I get on next time. I'll try to get on at a reasonable hour...
Damnit! Missed the Deoxys giveaway because I had to house-sit while rest of the family went to NY as a contest prize. I'm just happy I get the rest of the prize pack- another DS (no more GTS ripoffs for me!), a copy each of Diamond and Pearl, a cheeseload of Pokemon figures, and a year's sub to some competitive battling training website.
Anyways, I'm still messing around with my Torterra, but I guess my problem is settling on a moveset/nature/ability/whatever. I win my fair share of battles on PBR from being able to out-think and anticipate a few different types, but that only goes so far...
I don't get the 'char. Def up' stuff at the end of your listings?
Also, you'll really need to breed a fresh team, using Dittos to get the right natures. Your Torterra has the best one, but your Swampert, Sceptile and Infernape have pretty bad natures for the roles they'd play in a battle.
Oh, I see! That's an indication of the Pokémon's highest IV. It can have others tied with it, however.
I think the first things you'll need to do is go pick up a bunch of Dittos with good natures (Adamant, Modest, Timid and Jolly are probably the first four you should get) and some Everstones. Then, once you have a female with the right nature that you're wanting to breed, look into Egg Moves. There are some good guides in the OP.
Also, I'm feeling the need to play some PBR sometime. I just want to remind myself how much I hate the announcer.
I did that a LONG time ago. Like, within a day of playing it. Heck, sometimes I just mute everything and play some CDs, because none of the sounds are really all that useful.
It's still a pretty poor game, but it has enough redeeming features it's still worth a cheap bargain pick-up for some 3D battlin'*. I love the "Team Battle" in the Waterfall Colosseum, and the different formats in the Crsytal and Magma Colosseums are fun as well; Little Cup (unevolved level 5 or less only) is a sentimental favorite from the original N64 Stadium days, and the Survival Challenge in the Courtyard is a beast. Whoever came up with the formats for Neon and Sunset can go die in a fire, though.
My FC is in my sig if anyone wants to go a few rounds someday. I apparently have some connection issues (I almost always get dropped after exchanging passes for some reason, but the error code says it's on Nintendo's side of things), but it's a small price to pay to not have to deal with Palkias and other Ubers all damned day -- they're usually not that tough, because people just catch them and maybe give them a TM or two, but I ran into a Lugia one day that was definitely trained up and it was a bitch.
*I've renamed Solarbeam "Orbital Laser" whenever I use it in PBR. That is one of the most vicious looking things I've ever seen in a pokemon context.
I'll check those out, then. I have a few Ditto lying around, and I happen to be hip-deep in Everstones. I also got the Pokedex guide that Prima put out- the "Volume 2" one meant as a follow-up to their Diamond/Pearl strategy guide. That's got some stuff, too. But I'll study up.
Edit: I should really train up my Mewtwo for some PBR online. My R/B/Y version had Psychic/Recover/Flamethrower/Ice Beam on it. Oh, man, NOTHING could stop it- until I swapped him across to G/S/C and got repeatedly pwned with Houndoom in Stadium 2. I've been meaning to train a good Houndoom for ages now.

Who wants to aid me in some IV checks?
I got tired of that avatar very fast BTW.
Unfortunately they are slow and don't need speed.

But I think you know that.
With the smogon support that came during that incident, I wonder...

I'll go breed a few and see what I get- now I see why Ditto are in high demand.
