I'm glad to hear that you got what was coming to you. I could really use Pursuit to.
I can only think of 3 pink pokemon at the moment, and I hope you won't make Blissey.
Actually, I don't mind Blissey on its own. I'd just prefer to see a Lickilicky.
A special attacking Lickilicky with Surf and Wring Out.
My apologies. After rewatching that clip the The Iron Giant, I've found that the quote is actually, 'YOU ARE NOT A GUN! YOU ARE WHAT YOU CHOOSE TO BE! NOW CHOOSE!'
EVs are fine, it takes like maybe 30 minutes with power items. Natures... okay, fine, a little bit more breeding but not too unreasonable. I draw the line at IVs, which are too much bullshit for me to handle, let alone hidden powers.
I tried doing the whole IV breeding thing about six months ago, and it made me put the game down.
It's too monotonous, and I can never tell whats good or not.
Even getting the right natures was a hassle cuz I could never fucking catch enough dittos.
Thus, I'm a bit wary of getting back into that, cuz I really dont wanna end up putting the game down again. Also, I plan on playing against a few people I know and I dont wanna dominate them too harshly because I know they don't know much about the metagame and I don't think theyd find breeding much more interesting than I do.
Just out of interest, what're your breeding/training/whatever methods? E.g. if you wanted a Charizard for your team, how would you go about getting it in fighting shape?
Because I got sick of it. As far as getting a charizard would go, I guess I would have hatched 'em until I had the right numbers, and then gone on serebii to find out which wild mans had the right EV rewards, and then fight those until he was full of EVs, then just level the crap out of him on the in-game trainers.
Breed a male charizard with the right egg moves I want, then breed it with a ditto until I have one with the right nature, EV train it, level it to 50 (or more if it needs more moves), then call it a day.
Usually shouldn't take more than a couple hours, unless the breeding gods hate me.
With the right Ditto, breeding for the right nature shouldn't take too long. Passing egg moves might take a while since you need a female to pass them on to and Charmanders only have a 1/8 chance of being female. So you need a bit of luck. Then spread Pokerus on it and EV training should take about half an hour. Then train it to lvl. 34 to learn Flamethrower if you want and evolve it twice. All in all, if you don't care about IVs, it shouldn't take longer than 2-3 hours.
Breeding:
This is the iffiest part. You could get the right nature right away, or if you're really unlucky, you might be breeding for a long time. In a any event, I speed this up by breeding a whole bunch (4-5 eggs at a time) at once, and carrying around a pokemon with the ability Flame Body (cuts down egg hatching time by 1/2)
EV Training:
Use power items, which drastically cut down the amount of time needed. Also, try to take advantage of low-level opponents (i.e. bidoof for HP and starly for speed) If the appropriate opponent is too high level, remember that EXP. SHARE also confers EVs. So, if you would normally get 2 Def. EVs for killing a graveler, both the pokemon that killed it and the poke holding the EXP. SHARE get 2 def. EVs. Its a nice way to level up and EV train at the same time.
Leveling Up:
At this point, it should be fully EV'd, so you don't have to worry about getting useless EVs. A fast way to do this is give it an XP SHARE, putting it at the front of your party, and fighting the elite four. This way it gets 3/4ths of the experience points. Rinse, and repeat until its big enough to fight for itself.
Man I would go nuts if I had to hunt down starlys for speed. The much easier way is rebattling the 6 magikarps guy in eterna. If you have a power brace or whatever then with pokerus you'll be getting 48 attack evs and 12 speed evs per battle. Then when attack reaches 240, you can fish a gyarados pretty frequently for the remaining 12 points. Using a macho brace or power speed item will finish off the speed training for sweepers.
This gets you the common 252/252 distribution for physical sweepers. For other stats, there's the 5 bidoof trainer in solaceon for hp and the haunted gastly mansion for sp. attack. There are probably even more secrets to uncover in the exciting world of pokemon!
I once considered a "let's play: pokemon breeding" video... maybe I should go through with it.
He was like, PURSUITSMIRK and then he was like, HAHANOTCBICESHARDBOB
This was weavile's second battle, but its was his first in which he made an appearance. As such, I didn't know everything to him! When bob came out at first I was giving you the benefit of the doubt, I thought you were just up to something sneaky! Like, sucker punch was going to out prioritize ice shard and get a ohko. So I left him in partly to see what was going to happen. When that didn't happen, I thought "well maybe he just doesn't have a counter at all and he is just sending in whoever" but then mr gross came out and I realized you probably just thought I was choiced.
The other fight I had here also had me winning and then they disconnected.
And then said we should have a rematch, but didn't tell me they were changing their guys around until we were online. You can imagine how that ended.
So yeah, I'm not really excited about the idea of putting in hours and hours of work just to be disconnected on. Or worse.
That was me who switched my order around on you. To be perfectly fair, however, I suggested switching our team order around a bit right after we got cut off to help re-randomize the fight. You must have just missed it before you got back online. Besides that, we were tied with me about to start sweeping when we disconnected. And I did apologize.
Use an everstone for breeding. Rare candies, lvl. 1 stats, characteristics and common sense for IV checking. Power items and pokerus for EV training.
It's not difficult to determine the potential of a lvl. 1 by glancing over its stats. Often a good IV means an above average number, usually a 6, and a bad IV or a -nature means a 5 or a 4. Characteristics help even further by giving out information of the highest stat. Use the list below to get an idea of its IVs.

So, wait a minute...if I did it right, I could have a team up in a day?
What items do I need? How do I even tell if I have acceptable IVs?
Nobody tells me nothin!
Building 6 competitive Pokemon from scratch in one day would require quite a good bit of luck.
Now that would be an incredibly awesome feat on par with those guys who played through all the 3d Zeldas in two days. Of course it would also be exceedingly boring.
"Okay, rounding out hour 10 here, and as you can see we're still biking up and down the road trying to hatch all these eggs. Stay tuned for hour 11, where we'll be playing Russian Roulette. Of course, we'll be loading bullets in every chamber, that way we all win!"
Hmm. Well depending on if you picked guys that required egg moves or not, and if you didn't care at all about ivs, I'd say you could probably pull it off. Getting the natures would be the tricky part, when going from scratch. Maybe if you spent a bit of time at the beginning farming dittos.
Edit - window of opportunity closed for a while! sorry rb.

Your best bet is to just ignore IVs to begin with.
and it's unlikely that you could make a team in one day, unless you had all of the items and pokemon available to you already. and you would still need some luck.
and please, check the OP for guides to all of this stuff.
I can battle you later BlueBlue but I am GOING to finish this guy first. I've been breeding him for far too long.
Next up, I've decided to accept Kay's challenge and build a Wifi-'viable' Corsola. Amazingly, I think I have a set that might actually work because the thing's movepool isn't half bad.
Well, I am holding out for Gigaton since we haven't fought yet and we weren't able to yesterday. I am trying to maybe get back to sleeping and waking up at times that a regular person might so I'll probably just have time for that one.
I'm back now, I had to go to work >.< Anyway I'm still able to trade a power item of anyone's choice if they'll do 2 IV battles with me, I have some spare BP and feel gnerous.
