    Wow.

So tonight's episode was the first appearance of the token "Sorkin has father issues" scene.

That was a really great episode.

Before in a Sorkin thing or just somewhere else?

I thought that was really good. A nice tie in with the story the kid told the parents about the development of the studio, etc.

    Very nice.

The episode title is "git 'r done".

I want to set FIRE to whoever thought this show ought to replace Studio 60 tonight.

NBC will try to give its struggling drama "Friday Night Lights" an extra boost later this month by airing after the network's most successful new show.

On Monday, Oct. 30, NBC will air an original "Lights" episode at 10 p.m. ET, following "Heroes"; the episode will then repeat in the show's normal 8 p.m. Tuesday spot on Oct. 31. "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," which usually airs at 10 p.m. Mondays (and was scheduled for a repeat that night), will get a week off.

I guess it's just a boost. I hope it stays that way, and that they never do this again.

It was scheduled to be a rerun tonight anyways, so they wanted to see if the rating train-wreck of Friday Night Lights would perform any better in a different spot.

Ah. That makes me feel slightly better.

Until I realize that I could be watching studio 60 in an hour and 11 minutes but instead will not be doing that.

I wonder if there are any streams on youtube...

    Oh god

    Oh god

    This is on the wiki:
On October 27, 2006 NBC gave a conditional "vote of confidence" by ordering 3 additional scripts on top of the initial order of 13 [1]. Despite the order, Studio 60 has done poorly in the ratings which has led to speculation that the network is seriously considering cancelling it. [2] On October 29, 2006 Roger Friedman of Fox News reported that cancellation of the show was imminent. [3]

Roger Friedman of Fox News isn't the most reliable source, but I'm scared.

I just happened to read this today, and it totally made me think of Steven Weber's rant during last week's episode, about how no one wanted to watch a well-written show about the UN, and he really wanted to make a bid for some crappy reality show that he knew would be a hit.

It'll suck if they have to cancel Studio 60, but honestly it's not half as maddening as that fact that the reason they would have to cancel it is because people would rather watch The Bachelor, or Survivor #87, wherethefuckever.

I may have heard a comedian saying something like this, but it's true: if aliens ever got our radio signals, and started watching our prime-time tv, I would feel embarrased.

But, it's still doing better in ratings than West Wring did, right? So why would they cancel a show that's doing better than one of their biggest hits?

West Wing was never a big ratings hit.

It lasted so long sheerly on critical goodwill and good demographics for those who were watching. Also apparently one of the bigwigs was a big fan of the show.

West Wing isn't a huge hit and I really don't think Studio 60 will be either, however studios don't keep only big hits on the air. If they think it raises the level of the viewership or has critical acclaim or some other factors.

I really doubt they would cancel studio 60 before its first season is even over. According to wikipedia there was essentially a bidding war between CBS and NBC for the rights so their not just going to dump it after paying huge licensing fees. I predict it pretty much does the same thing as west wing did and while it has lower rating stays on due to the viewership, maybe not as long but I give it at least 2 seasons. Also their not going to order 3 scripts and then in 2 days decide to drop the show.

    Is viewership even a word?

it is really starting to look like the end is near for studio 60....as someone already posted, fox news is reporting that it is being cancelled and now the boston herald is saying the same thing....some folks over at aintitcool have reported other random places reporting the same thing.

such a shame....cancelled for what will end up being another hour of deal or no deal or some crap like that
