I have concluded that the yellow monster is as close to impossible as one can get without crossing into Ninja Gaiden-esque difficulty. I could perhaps beat him with the slow, painstaking use of save states and steady fingers, but I don't have the patience.
Simple. Cheat.
Use the thunder beam. When it hits him, pause the game and then keep pausing and unpausing really quick. You see, there's a glitch where when you come out of the menu, the beam hits again and does damage. So by rapidly pausing and unpausing, it keeps taking damage, and you can kill it with just one shot.
That's the only way to kill the Yellow Devil. Anyone who claims to have done it otherwise is a witch and should be immediately burned at the stake.

Isn't the pause trick supposed to be done with the Select Button? Just clarifying.
Also, I've tried this a million times and can never seem to get it to work.

Oh holy shit, the cartoon. ~15 years down the line I can't bear to even think about it, but god damn if it doesn't bring up as much warm fuzziness as it does bile. Remember the episode where Dr. Light discovers that ancient cavern with the mummified lion people who return to life and then use the future tech to try and turn everybody into bipedal lion creatures, robots included?
Oh come on you guys the Yella Demon is not THAT hard. The blobs move in the same order every time! Like, he's really fuckin' hard, but not "give up or abuse a glitch to beat him" hard.

The video on the previous page is exactly what I was attempting to do. Thing is, I used to be able to do it.
How about a compromise - I beat the yellow devil in MM3 the honest way, and cheat the hell out of this game?
Man come on this was the first MM I played for longer than 5 minutes and it only took me about ten tries to beat him. And with the Mega Buster no less!
I don't really get why they made him harder than the end boss, though.

MM1 is cake compared to MM & Base. What genius decided to toss E-tanks out the window?
And since MM9 is going to be like MM2, Mega Man better not climb ladders slow. For real, once you do fast style ladder climbs from MM3 onward, there's no going back.

But...MM1 doesn't have Etanks, either?
I don't know what you mean about the ladder climbing thing...I've never noticed it...

MM1, 8, and that 8 romhack are the only games without Etanks.
8 and the 8 romhack have something to make up for it though.
1 just has pain.
1 is overall the hardest real MM game though that 8 romhack using Rockman is damn close, but in the end is disqualified for not having a number in its title.
Difficulty I'd say it goes
1
2
7
8
3
4
5
6
5 and 6 are laughably easy. 7 has some decent boss fights but some real easy levels. 8 has no E tanks but is still pretty easy. 3 isn't too bad except for Doc Robot. 4 is easy in a good way.
1 has nothing friendly at all. No passwords, no Etanks, 4 hard Wily fights out of five bosses, 2 difficult Robot Master fights.
2 has selectable difficulty. On normal it's about the same as 3. On difficult it can be quite nerve racking.
All I know about Nine is this; when I first get a sniff that the boss weaknesses have been leaked I'll avoid every MM9 thread.
This will be only the second time I'll go blind into a MM game without knowing the weaknesses from some magazine.
I gotta admit, it can be fun to play MM games without knowing a bosses weakness. I'm playing Mega Man ZX Advent and so far I've already tamed 3 bosses without looking on the net for their Kryptonite.
I saw some vids of MM & B that made the King stages look like childs play. I hate that tank boss in King stage 2.
i am really disappointed in no sliding. I played megaman1 last night and I felt like a retard trying to dodge since I couldn't slide to avoid anything.
Anyway, I resolved to actually sit down and power through Megaman X6 tonight. I just... I couldn't do it. The game is that bad.
1) Commander Yammark - leaps of faith over spike pits killed me three or four times, but the boss was a joke.
2) Ground Scaravich - This stage is impossible for normal Megaman. You literally cannot beat it without the Falcon Armor. The boss is a joke.
3) Blaze Heatnix - This is where I gave up - the giant mechaniloid with four weak points, only half the screen is rising lava? Oh, and beating Yammark first causes metal flies to swarm you, and they reflect normal shots? Sorry, I'm done.
This game is just terrible, there's no way around it.
3) Blaze Heatnix - This is where I gave up - the giant mechaniloid with four weak points, only half the screen is rising lava? Oh, and beating Yammark first causes metal flies to swarm you, and they reflect normal shots? Sorry, I'm done.
Those nightmares are random, and have nothing to do with beating Yanmark.

The faq I was using said they were.
In the Ground Scaravich stage, in the first area you get teleported to, no matter how many times I tried in the randomly generated area, there was always a part with a large pit and a low hanging ceiling block. You can't dash wall jump because it blocks you. How do you do this without the air dash?

Just watched the footage. Don't get me wrong, I'm psyched about them keeping the 8-bit style and all, but...what they've made looks indistinguishable from the previous games, at least from what I could see in the video.

Well, that part is also random, but it can be done. I just don't remember how I did it. Could you draw picture to refresh my memory?

We found a witch, may we burn it?

Spark Mandrill. While X was cool, I really, really liked Vile in that episode.
Vile (after MegaMan's shots bounce off his armor): "You're out of your league puny-bot."
I thought Scar had died at the end of The Lion King.
I guess I was wrong.
Awesome.

The only thing that says is that Japan is getting those games leading up to MM9's japanese release and hopefully we will get something similar.
I assume we will get them eventually.

Yeah he didn't look very hard in that video. Just jump, shoot, jump some more, repeat.
It's a lot harder when you're actually doing it.
That said it's not as hard as some people make it sound.

I bet Splash Woman is weak against Plug Man
I never asked for this!
It's harder in MM3, or in MMX5, where it doesn't have a fixed pattern.
No. It doesn't.
It's more like eight. And surviving that long is a bitch.
It's not as easy as that video makes it seem. *tries again*
It's probably easier in MM3 because you have the slide.
