People pay to advertise on billboards, yet radio stations are supposed to pay musicians to advertise their music with them? Bizarre.

    Exactly
Well that and I just don't like the radio
The only times I listened to the radio in the last two years were when my friends were doing a show from the school, or when I was doing a show
And that was only because I knew I liked whatever they played, and obviously I liked what I played

    Really
The way it works is, you hear a song, and you're like that song was fucking great
So you go out and buy the album and it sucks

actually it's now more like "hey that song is awesome i think i'll buy the single off iTunes for $ .99!"

*listen to samples of rest of album*

"wow, the rest blows. i'm just getting the one song then."

whenever I'm thinking of getting an album I listen to songs from it on youtube until I am satisfied it is a good purchase

I don't have a job so I only have so much money to spend on these things

I remember when a shit-ton of guitar tablature sites got sent cease-and-desist letters from a branch of the RIAA. They claimed that tablature - pretty much an easy-to-read form of sheet music for guitar - was a form of piracy as well.

You can trace the music industry losses right to the fact that you don't have to buy albums to get a cool single.

Think of all the albums up until iTunes that had one or two good songs that you wanted, but people had to buy the whole damn thing. 17 bucks for two singles turns into 2.

Remember when the recording industry got hit by a class-action lawsuit because it was revealed that they had been price-fixing for decades?

The RIAA can go fuck itself.

Its no wonder people took to the internet to download music. They were getting ripped off for decades.

It was also pretty cool when Sony put copy-protection shit on a bunch of artists' albums without telling them about it before hand.

Switchfoot's "Nothing Is Sound" got hit with it so on their main forums the bassist put up a topic about how to disable it.
