Transferring large files to an external hard-drive
So I've got a seven gig file I need to transfer to my external, which is a WD 500g MyBook connected to my laptop via USB. When I try to cut and paste it or copy it over, I get the message "Not enough free space" even though the external has 400 GB free and the laptop drive has like 60 free.

Any ideas?
Your drive is most likely formatted in FAT32 (they do this since it's a lowest common denominator file system.)

Son of a bitch. How can I tell?
Edit: nevermind, I just right-clicked.
That was indeed the problem. I guess I've got to reformat this beast again.

You've probably already done it, but if not, you can convert the disk to NTFS without reformatting it. Instructions here

"Damn you and your Daily Doubles, you brigand!"
I don't believe it - I'm on my THIRD PS3, and my FIRST XBOX360. What the heck?

To be honest, you should avoid that if you can - while it works, you cxan end up with a suboptimum sector sizing.
