Damn it, Blizz said SC 2 won't come out this year, so that means D2 won't either.
I imagine it'll be at least another year or two before SC2 comes out, and another year or two after that before D3 gets released. Blizzard takes forfuckingever to release things. Usually to polish them and make sure they're up to their standards, but still. Diablo 3 was just announced. Don't expect it to be out any time soon.
I could see D3 hitting before SC2, due to the insane amount of balance needed for SC2.
Perhaps but I would imagine they'd also have to balance D3 some (don't want weak monsters dropping loot that's too awesome, or super monsters in a low-level area). I honestly don't know, like I said it's just what I imagine and that's that neither one will come out any time soon.
Don't know if it's been answered, but they said the new battle.net is coming with SC 2, so I really doubt D3 is going to be released earlier.
I have honestly never seen a trailer which delivered a more perfect vision of what I wanted the game to be. THe interactions between player, mobs, and environment were so astounding that they could barely be believed. It looks amazing
It's funny, I was dissapointed at first in the trailer, since it looks essentially exactly the same. Then there was the giant mob of little dudes which was neat then there were quests then the demon-possesed dudes and man there was a giant and that got really really cool.
It looks like it's got the same kill=reward mechanic going on, but there's a tinge of strategy to encounters, even for the Barbarian.
All I really want out of this game is a skill tree that has more than a single usefull skill per character. I got tired of finding out all my experimenting in Diablo 2 was mostly wasted, and I should have just waited for the level 30 skill.

Maybe with the older patches, things have changed. I'll kill you with a fire ball.

Yes yes, but will you kill me with Telekinesis?
Telekinesis wasn't meant to be good at hurting things. It was meant to be good at ninja looting.

Yeaaah, I know.
But seriously, I haven't played since 4 years ago, so it may have changed, but I remember most skills having a weird stat progression. So I'd put 20 points into something that went from doing 5 damage to doing 55 damage or I'd only put 5 points into something that goes up exponentially.
Homer:"Hey, don't blame me, this movie is tired and predictable. You know she's going to wind up marrying Richard Gere."
(audience gasps in surprise)
Dr. Hibbert: "I thought she was going to wind up with that rich snob." McAllister: "Ably played by Bill Paxton." Homer:"That's Bill *Pullman*, you fool!"
All I managed to see was one match, a Terran (played by a Starcraft community guy) Vs. Zerg (a blizzard guy).
The zerg rushed with zerglings and the Terran barely survived. He only had a single marine to put in a bunker after zerglings dealt with the other two, and the zerglings ran past the bunker to harass the SCV line. The zerglings also nearly destroy his barracks, but the terran player lifts it off wisely. Eventually the Terran got control of the situation by playing cat and mouse with his marine and making more at the same time. The terran begins making many many marines and the Zerg expands. The Terran player techs and get's "Medi-vacs" which are like some sort of combination between dropships and medics, they will probably be essential to terran strategy if they make it to the final build. Later the zerg attacks with roaches and zerglings and the Terran at first has trouble dealing with the roaches (the zerglings were swept away pretty easily) but eventually gets them with focus fire. He counters by dropping Terran units off at a zerg expansion and the zerg fails to fend it off very well. Then the terran attacks his natural with a TON of marines and the zerg GGs.
While they're picking up other good ideas (like loot dropping individually for everyone, visable only to them), I really hope they do a shared stash in addition to the regular one.
I know my alt addiction well, and I'll probably have one of each class, for both bank space and/or trying them all out.
Not having to hide things in public games, make private ones and wait 5 minutes, or have a friend sitting around babysitting my stuff would be quite a boon.
Also, I hope they do everything in their power to ban the shit out of botters.
Forar on
First they came for the Muslims, and we said NOT TODAY, MOTHERFUCKER!
Apparently they're taking the unique introductions* from D2 a step further, the characters and npcs will react to you completely differently depending on what you play and what not.
*IE, Gheed "A necromancer! I hoped I'd never have to lay my eyes on one of your kind again..."

They'll probably just throw Warden (or a modified Warden) in, and it'll work just like in WoW. Not foolproof, but an arms race at least.
Can you tell what they were talking about at start? I only now started watching.
Mainly their philosophy in that every character needs to have something cool to them that is unique. It sort of discounts the necromancer appearing his in D2 state.
They said they looked at Diablo (the original game) and saw that the characters were all products of a harsh environment, so they're trying to say that in D3 characters. All morally gray and what not.

Can I get a 'this guy'?
To hell with that.
TO HELL I SAY.
That is nice, actually.
What is this, Deckard Cain the White? He wear white robes too?
Yes. That guy.
Me: You may find new beginnings?
Trailer: ...You would find a new beginning.
Me: *sigh*
Shhh!
God, the main love interest's boyfriend is so EVIL! Why can't she see that?!
Deckard Cain?

by the way, people are playing Starcraft 2 on the tournament stage stream right now. Pretty interesting stuff.

The creep looks really nice.
It JUST came on.
"The barbarian is the same barbarian you played in D2 but its been 20 years, he's gone through a lot."

Who needs sleep anyway?
Awesome, I was wondering what was up with the gray hair. Dude! Hrothgar will kill again!
I went to the live stream and all i see are guys setting up a stage.
Save me from my ignorance.
It's on the tournament stream, not the main one. I don't know why.

oh wait.
Thanks

Blizz misspells too. :P
// Thanks
Now they're saying that all interaction with NPCs will be conversations rather than monologues.
Edit: Now they're saying when they think of skills, they think of big and cool and awesome and epic, and worry about balancing later on.
The word "awesome" has taken up about like 20% of this panel discussion
"Monster + explosion = awesome."
I just hit my face on my keyboard falling alseep.
"When you hit a monster with critical damage and kill them, they LITERALLY explode. ...
Here's our equation: Monster + Explosion = Awesome."
